Poor customer service

I bought an item on the 1st of February. And I am still waiting for it on the 12th.
On the 8th I was told to wait until the 12th for eBay to step in. Today, the 12th, I am told to wait until the 21st. 21 days from the day of purchase. Amazon would have sorted it out in seconds. No questions asked.

eBay buyer protection doesn't cover…

eBay buyer protection doesn't cover every transaction. I bought an item and its got seller doesn't accept returns even under ebay policy buyer protection. I managed to get the seller to agree a return but he wont pay postage. Now the seller isn't responding and has relisted the item. eBay has got fully automated its very difficult to speak to an advisor and they're not helpful in resolving case. I have been told to make a dispute with PayPal or go to my bank. This is all very wrong especially that the seller has relisted the item and not given my refund it is classed as theft. EBAY HAS GOT SCAMMERS ADVERTISING VECHICLES FOR SALE TO CONTACT VIA EMAIL,frankly if its going to be like this i wont use ebay!

Ebay is way too big & powerful &…

Ebay is way too big & powerful & couldn't give a toss for it's sellers, even though it is the sellers that pay for ebay to exist. No sellers, no commission, no commission no eaby ! I have been complaining about the same three things on average every 72 hours for 5 months (since the 12/10/20) They constantly email me to update my "item specifics" but when I try the "item specifics" they are asking for are already there ! If I try to update anything I get a big error message at the top of the page which freezes the page & I have to cancel the whole site & start from scratch with google. Add to this some of the choices I get offered on the "item specifics" update page, one of the worse is a listing I have for fishing hooks which are 99.9% made of Steel. The system asks me to select a "material" they are made from & I am offered "Cork, Rubber, Plastic & wood" IF I try to enter STEEL I get the big red error message "WHO programmed this pile of poo????" Another "BUG" of the same age is the email address on ALL of my listings is WRONG & is completely different from the email address ebay has on file in my Contact details & my business information & even the "technical" department can't sort it out, they suggested I end all my 200+ listings (some with 50 choices in them) & start again, AT MY OWN EXPENSE & TIME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The third BUT all from the same October update is when the listing roll over at the end of the month, some of them re-set to original settings of which some are 3+ years old & I/we have sold out of some colours/models, never to be seen again & we get orders for these "out of production" items if we don't see these cock-ups before the buyers do. But that is also OUR fault according to ebay as we should monitor our listing as though we had nothing better to do except make ebay look good !!!!! Add to this ebay has NO seller protection what so ever, we recently sold a lure to a guy in northern Ireland, who used it, caught a fish on it (or at least had it bitten, as it had a Pikes tooth in it ) Damaged the paint/finish & sent it back with out packaging & rusty hooks & demanded a refund as it "DIDN'T FIT" !!!! & ebay refunded him & took the money from my account. As a foot note while I have been writing this RANT I have been on hold between departments with ebay 1 hour 15 min & 43 secs Marvelous customer service !!!!!!!!! PS: you are not aloud to give no star revues or minus star revues, something trust pilot should really look into as my real rating would be minus 10 **********

Feels like eBay STINGS you and PayPal SQUEEZES the Venom Sack!

Well....I have had no satisfaction from eBay either. They have decided to refund the buyer for destroying my printer and returning it to me! Its a common theme on eBay which they deny!!!

Buy. Sell. eBay...because @ eBay: The Seller Always Looses.

Sellers aren't protected at eBay and therefore aren't protected at PayPal either. A buyer can damage an item that was sent to them in working order...they can mess about with it then send it back. Leaving the seller out of pocket.

eBay has nothing in place to protect sellers such as a Quality Control Mediator; qualified to inspect certain goods before the buyer is sent their item. For example: StockX , the sneaker/trainer selling, bidding
buying, platform that has all footwear intercepted, tested/examined and then the item is sent to the buyer. This elevates any qualms between seller and buyer and therefore there is no room for seller's word against buyer's word. But eBay loves letting people down-ESPECIALLY SELLERS ...its a kind of self serving wickedness- On eBay's Part- that has become the eBay Culture. eBay revels in seeing seller pitted up against buyer. eBay encourages this stressful, idiotic back and forth arguing between seller and buyer. This Negative and Toxic Energy, whilst being played out between Seller and Buyer, is the ACTUAL Life Source that Nourishes eBay. I have been a long standing member of eBay and I have experienced a lot of changes over the years. Maybe some court forced their hands TO MAKE SOME CHANGES but no amount of Court order has changed the true essence of eBay. That Jerry-Springer-Like soul that eBay has always possessed, has never ever and will never ever experience an exorcism. In other words...You Can Take eBay Out Of The Ghetto but You'd Never Take The Ghetto Out Of eBay!

eBay also hides behind the Government and manipulates the Online Consumer Law to cover their own back. They also use their 30-days returns policies to force sellers into having this facility in order to gain access to their partial refund scheme. I'm sure this is a way for eBay to make money but they deny it. Strongly!

I don't think PayPal is completely innocent either as you could have something made out to protect sellers(as stated above). Its sellers that create the platform for buyers which generated the fundamental trade on eBay. Sellers offer something to buy. No one walks into an empty shop and purchases anything! Therefore if there is nothing to buy where would the trade begin???

This time I have lost tremendously with the return of a printer and there is nothing PayPal nor eBay are willing to do BUT there is ever so much that can be done and evidently this two-headed-monster of a company just REFUSE to!!. This type of injustice will never end and Sucks! because PayPal and eBay have monopolized their platforms in such a way that one is left with a genuine feeling of hopelessness. This is actually a very sad thing in which both PayPal and eBay have patronize their members into believing that they actually care.

I feel like eBay has its sins to answer for and so does PayPal. With PayPal I've decided to never take out PayPal credit again and have begun using my bank card more now than ever. It used to be, that I would PayPal every transaction because I used to feel protected financially with PayPal. I even sung PayPal's praises to Santander but I regret that now.

You might notice a tone of Bitterness in my correspondence and that would be rather perceptive of you- eBay and PayPal; because you'd be right.

So for now I would keep PayPal as a last resort and a necessary evil but when I'm deciding which medium to use to finance a transaction, I won't use PayPal if I can help it. Feels like eBay STINGS you and PayPal SQUEEZES the Venom Sack!

FROM TODAY I WILL RECORD EVERY SINGLE BAD EXPERIENCE THAT I HAVE WITH PAYPAL AND EBAY ON TRUSTPILOT....WHY? BECAUSE THEY ARE COMPANIES THAT ARE OF THE SAME DOCTRINE. THEY SEPARATE THEMSELVES FROM EACH OTHER WHEN THERE IS TROUBLE. BUT I WILL REUNITE THIS DISGRACEFUL FORCE OF AN ONLINE MARKETPLACE AND THEIR FINANCIER PARTNER; RIGHT HERE ON TRUSTPILOT.

Impossible to get help.

Impossible to get a coherent answer from customer service because a different person responds every time and won't read the history.

I informed them I'd been sent fraudulent items. They repeatedly told me to return the illegal goods while they continued to allow the seller to operate for months.
One agent asked for photos of the (very clearly) fake items and then another agent informed me they couldn't judge the authenticity.
Eventually someone told me I could have a refund once the items were confirmed fakes, but by the time the manufacturer confirmed (a few weeks later) ebay had closed the case and refused to do anything.

As long as they're making money they don't care about protecting you.

Having been a buyer and seller on eBay for several years now, I have found that value of an item is irrelevant to them!!!
It’s about profit to them!!!
If a seller has an item they know the value of and the buyer knows the value of, they will both lose, more so the seller.
But must remember it is an online auction. eBay put your item out there for the world to see.
How would you in Yorkshire know someone in County Antrim would love to purchase an item you value and see a profit in???
I currently have an item for sale on eBay, I know it’s value, the bidders know it’s value but we will both take a hit!!!...but how would I find that buyer???
Think my point is...you get a few £££..buyer spends a few £££...Auctioneer makes a lot of £££££££££

i wish eBay would stop trading

eBay is just one of those company that are just run by pure criminals. no morals what so ever and greedy scamming *****.
if your a seller you have zero rights, buyers can do what they like and it costs you as the seller. also, there are sellers that know how get round PayPal and you still get ripped off. i just noticed also today that i have to pay a Final Valuation Fee on postage. its not money im earning, i give that to the postman, yet eBay charges me 10% of that and PayPal charges me 5%. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, someone open an auction site with some human morals

why should buyers pay return postage if…

why should buyers pay return postage if the item is faulty? in my experience some sellers claiming to be uk based are actually chinese or other countries selling items not fit for use and then blatantly refusing to refund the buyers money, this is not doing genuine sellers any favours and ebay should be ashamed for letting this continue and as always its all about profit.

No seller protection

I have recently become a seller on eBay after being a satisfied buyer for half my life. Every item I list, I am honest in my item's descriptions to deserve a No Returns policy. I get buyers who are time wasters who buy my pristine items, damage them and expect to return them for a full refund (I really do get people like this!). I have complained to eBay about the lack of seller's protection for no returns to mean NO RETURNS. eBay always goes in favour of the buyer for its Money Back Guarantee. And for the seller to issue the postage is appalling. If the buyer really wanted to return an item, they should lay for it themselves. There should be more policies to protect the sellers for hassle free sales against haughty buyers. Absolutely appalling. SORT IT OUT, EBAY!!!!!!!!

Ebay ripped off my daughter of £75 as a seller. They closed her account for selling whitening strips, while there are many accounts active for a long time selling the same item. Because the account was suspended indefinitely (not closed), three a-hole buyers smelled blood and asked for a refund, AND GOT IT FROM EBAY, although delivery was verified (two deliveries VERIFIED BY EBAY!!!). So Ebay refunded the clients for not receiving the items, although they received the items, and when I asked repeatedly EBay why did they refund items that were delivered as not delivered, over multiple phone calls, their response was the account was suspended and you cannot even appeal (basically they told me tough luck, although they recognised the injustice done to my daughter). Beware of Ebays dominate company tactics. By the way, they do not answer to anybody. No ombudsman, nothing. For eaby: item number: 333856470818.

Pathetic service. If you send complaint email they suspended your account so that you couldn't contact them for your refund. I lost my money and didn't get my parcel waste of time and money,.. never use

Not impressed with eBay

Not impressed with eBay, since they changed their payment policy. They have chosen not to use PayPal as preferred payment method, and as of last week of Jan 21, they have gone to direct bank payments. If you received payment for an item you sold, this will no longer appear immediately in your PayPal account, but if near a weekend, could take up to 4-5 days to clear. I will not despatch without cleared funds- so the perfect process before, will now take longer. They are also taking fees at source, before you receive your final payment. If eBay were having issues obtaining fees, I don’t feel this route will be the right route.

So not use these scumbags. If you sell something you have absolutely no comeback if some person desides to screw you over.
Person send great feedback saying "item as described" then changed their mind and asked for a refund, ebay gave it to them. (Before the time they should have too)
There is no way to hold them accountable, so DON'T USE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO GET RIPPED OFF! (BUY THEM A SOME BUYERS)

I used to have a sellers account on ebay and a few months in could not access it as i was hacked, i got rid of that and do not sell through ebay, now i was using ebay for one day to buy now and bid and i have been permanently banned even though i paid for all the goods and was up to date, do not let them have your details i don't trust their staff

Great to buy and sell

With Ebay it is a great selling site but you do have to be careful. When searching a product always use the filter for products in the country you live in. Once you find ehat you want then always check the recent reviews on the seller. Over this last year I have found out that a lot of people register that they are in the UK but they are not. Luckily I have recieved everything I have purchased, some have taken a little longer from the sellers that are actually in a different country. My last purchase was a pair of trainers, very cheap for what brand they was. All reviews were quite good so I bought them. They arrived in a different colour but they did come very quick. I asked to return and the seller said it would cost me too much so offered me a partial refund. I did open a case to talk to the seller about this, they advised me I had to close the case so they could offer a refund. Stupidly I did this then the seller removed the item from eBay so I had to try and contact them through one of there other items. I had to call ebay and ask them to step in. The refund I was offered was only 10%. Ebay looked at all messages between me and the seller and they gave me a full refund. Ebay is great and if anything goes wrong the customer service are always happy to help resolve. I do recommend but always check the feedback :-)
