Night Owl FTD 4-8 NVR
I purchased the FTD 4-8 a few years back from AAFES. This NVR has eight wired ports for cameras, plus 4 wireless ports that can't be accessed. I installed the 8 wired cameras, and I kept one screen up all the time to display the perimeter. Also, the menu option do not give you an option for 8 cameras, but 9. So a black screen was displayed all the time for camera 9. Recently, I decided to cycle the cameras, and sure enough, the unused wireless ports also appear on the monitor with a black screen, and the message "Not Enrolled". It is such a nuisance to have to cycle thru 4 blank screens. I researched high and low to figure out how to disable the 4 wireless ports, to no avail. I eventually reached out to Night Owl, and was told, these wireless ports cannot be disabled. I guess this way a person would have to purchase 4 wireless cameras to clear these black screens. So keep this in mind when researching this Night Owl product.

Horrible product! Will not connect to the Internet. I will never buy another night owl security system again. I have a farm where I need security and I thought this would be a good product and it’s not. Stay away from it. Very aggravating.
Worst system I have seen
Have the wireless camera's from Nightowl - bluntly they are terrible. Constantly go to sleep even during activity. Record time varies from 1 second to about 10 seconds with the average around 3 seconds and this is regardless of what activity is being captured.
Quality is mixed. Significant delay (10-12 seconds) in what the system shows you compared to what is actually occurring. Connectivity is sporadic and when I contacted the company they said I should have gotten a wired vs wireless system (was not and is not an option) but the associated I spoke to didn't or couldn't seem to understand that.
False alarms are common even when the sensitivity is turned down and if the sensitivity is set too low, then the system will not pick up on events such as people walking in the viewing area.

Bad Customer Services & Missleading Information On Their Website
After doing a great extent of research on these cameras, I gladly purchase them. Come to find out the website had an inaccurate description. They do not continuously record, even though the website says they do. I promptly returned them and was forced to pay for the shipping, even though the website and the company misled me with false information about the set up. Their customer service was horrible and it took them hours to return a phone call. They would not pay for the shipping back to the warehouse even though it was their mistake. I am very dissatisfied and will never purchase anything from night owl again.

I bought a Night Owl security system from the Base Exchange in 2022 I didn't use it for 2 years except for about 6 months then until recently I had been having a lot of problems from a tenant in an apartment that I was renting out. The tenant was violent and constantly trespassing in my yard damaging and stealing items, so I thought I would depend on Night Owl to watch the place while we slept, boy was I wrong! I tried to log into my account and I couldn't, so I called up technical support they had me create an entirely new account, and from that point on I haven't been able to use the entire security system so basically I wasted 800 plus dollars for junk right when I needed Night Owl for this violent tenant it lets me down! The moral of the story is if you want to be protected with some Dependable Security products please do yourself a favor and do not buy Night Out security systems! Research your Security products out throughly

These things lag like crazy and skip hours of recording, never ever put these in a commercial building and definitely dont trust them for home defense. They are absolutely worthless!! I purchased the 3 camera wireless security system. I had paid $300.00 for it. I received 2 batteries for each camera. All the batteries came in dead at 15%. Which then forced me to purchase their charger which came with 2 batteries and I purchased 4 more batteries so that each camera would have 4 batteries. So in total 12 batteries. When I received all the batteries I charged them all up and put them in my cameras and within 2 days 1 of my cameras that doesn't use vehicle or even motion detection was at 70%. These batteries are supposed to last up to a year. It lasted me 2 days fully charged in 1 cameras. I'm going to be returning this product. Absolutely ridiculous and a waste of time setting up. DO NOT PURCHASE!!

Purchased and installed just to find 1 camera dead out of the box. Yes 25% failure rate for a "security system" is not acceptable in my book.. returned back to Walmart then found how poorly these are rated. I will definitely read the reviews on the next system that replaces this "winner".

One star is to much for this product, this was a waste of 400$. Anytime I actually need to pull up an event it hasn’t recorded. Now there has been 3 events where it was needed and it won’t allow me access to the event

I bought the night owl security cameras, package of eight, and they were an easy install and their cameras have great picture. They did not have any doorbells available when I purchased the cameras. Night owl notified me when they got doorbells back in stock. I ordered a doorbell camera and chime. I spent $93.70. For some reason or another, the shipping address was auto-populated to an address I have not resided at since 2018. When I ordered it, I only seen the billing address for the unit and thought I was good to go. USPS shipped it to the wrong address and they ended up returning the unit back to night owl. However, it still has not made it back to night owl Warehouse. I ordered the unit on July 17th and it is now August 27th. The unit has been sitting in the USPS Austin Warehouse since August 5th. Night owl has done absolutely nothing to retrieve the unit and they refuse to return my money. They are disputing it with my bank. They believe it is okay to keep my money even though I never received their product. They know it has been sent back to them and they have refused to do anything to retrieve the unit. I recommend never ordering anything from the night owl web store. I have been going back and forth with them since the end of July and they still will not do anything to return my money.

No matter what I type in the question bar I get a response "Thanks for your feedback. If you need more help, you can ask another question at any time."
Next thing try the phone, very long wait times even when they call back. I do not know where their tech support is located but every time I talk to them the accent is so thick I am constantly asking them to repeat. 1 time I just hung up and called back, took 3 hours for an answer and again a language barrier.
I am generally easy to get along with but I am seriously thinking about taking all 7 cameras down and putting Arlo back up and returning night owl system.
I am waiting for a call back for support now, been 15 minutes already.
