Crooks
I made an appointment with Orkin. They charged me close to $200 and promised a full inspection. When the exterminator came he made no inspections and brought very little with him to treat my pest problem, so of course it didn’t help at all. Orkin wanted me to sign a year long contract but I refused. I was just charged $52 for a contract I never signed and no follow up. Trust me and hire a reputable company. This is merely a scam.

We have a serious ant problem at our home, contacted Orkin and they came to spray. Said they would make a follow up appt. The problem seemed to get worse so I called to see when they were returning, no appt had been booked so we booked that follow-up. On the day of appt I had to return a day early from a trip and removed base boards but no show. Called and they said it was a clerical error and very sorry. Booked again for today, arranged for someone to be home, removed baseboards only to get a call stating there was an emergency and the technician was no longer available. Booked and hopefully the third time is the charm.
Half OK on carpenter ants - horrible control on mice under my deck.
I have had Orkin for several years for carpenter ant control. I had a pile of logs 30 ft from the house and often saw carpenter ants there. I had them spray the logs every time. Finally I had a neighbor who wanted the firewood and he cut them up. OMG 500 or so big black ants. I have not a lot of faith in their ant control any longer. I also had them putting out bait traps for mice under my deck for a few years. I then noticed some mice activity and got proactive. I killed 27 mice in 8 days. Their bait boxes are useless.
Took Care of Carpenter Ants But No Followup
We saw carpenter ants in and on our house this spring so had Orkin come for an inspection and initial treatment. We used Orkin for many years in Tennessee and were big fans. We signed up for regular treatments. My first inkling that their office is in disarray was when I had to call them a few weeks later to find out when they were coming to do the second treatment. I was told the date and time window. That date and time window came and went today and no one came and no one called. So, I called them and was told our date had been switched to a week further out for same time slot. No one had called me to ask if this new date was good with me, and I was very displeased with this turn of events. I now have zero confidence in their ability to meet their obligation for a simple second treatment, so I called again today to cancel our account. I'll make due with products from Home Depot and, to be fair, we haven't seen any more carpenter ants, thus the 2 star rating.
Orkin proven wrong
Orkin sent 3 inspectors to our home. 1 was very proffesional, seemed very honest, did his inspection, let us know our options, and left.
Then 2 more came. These ones inspected the attic, and claimed there was mold. They were trying to sell me an 8000 dollar mold treatment- pretty pushily. So I had a mold company come out. No mold! No mold at all in our attic- and this 'no mold' diagnosis came from a mold remediation company- who would want to sell us on mold treatments.
May God Almighty judge between you and I Orkin.
Orkin shows up like they promised
After initial treatment in & around house, Greg was pulling weeds in veggie garden & got a spider bite, TG not a black widow or brown recluse, but swelling, red enough to seek medical treatment. I called Orkin & they sent john out that day before noon. He checked all the spider traps in garage behind toilets etc. I was extremely relieved to have john so quickly come to our rescue " if you have any problems call us" ORKIN is the only way to be safe in your house. Thank you, john, you were even better than 1st guy if that's possible -so knowledgeable.Spider beware-they're everywhere now!

You know how when tragedy strikes, you find out who your real friends are? Well, the same can be said about businesses.
We have been a customer with Orkin for 31 years. About three years ago, we had them do a bat-proof job for our attic. We paid about $2,000. They returned in this year to inspect to make sure it's still keeping the bats out. The Orkin person said he found places that had never been sealed, but, hey, it's out of warranty so you'll have to pay again. So, let me get this straight, you missed areas but we need to pay. OK, that's $2,000 gone. So, we had them do it again (bad judgement on my part) but this time it was $3,000.
A month after the work, we had a historic hail storm, tennis ball size hail. It destroyed our roof, car, siding, garage doors, patio, gutters and windows.
I called Orkin because I was pretty sure what they had done a month earlier was destroyed. They came and said, yup, it's destroyed and, what's more, you put on a new roof so the warranty is not valid. Yes, I put on a new roof because it was utterly destroyed. Too bad, it will now cost $3,200 to redo. Now here is the kicker (actually one of the many kickers). We hadn't even paid for the job yet. We went with the financing from the Orkin affiliate and the first payment was not due until June 18. OK, let me get this straight. I paid $2,000 for no reason, then I paid $3,000 for a job that got destroyed and now I have to pay $3,200 more.
The guy doing the estimate said he would talk to THE MANAGER about maybe getting under the warranty. Yeah, no.
I then emailed the Okin person who had coordinated the job this year and asked him if he could help me. He said he would forward my email to THE MANAGER and get back to me. Yeah, didn't happen.
I tried calling THE MANAGER but she wouldn't take or return my call.
If I could give minus 100 I would. This is a terrible way to treat anyone, much less a customer for 31 years.
We feel cheated and have to spend $ again to make it right
If you are reading this find some other company than Orkin. Please don't get cheated like we did. We have everything in emails and photos to prove their incompetence and or apathy. We should have known since most of the contract we signed dealt with arbitration and not suing them.
They told us we had a bad mice and snake problem in our encapsulated crawlspace and attic, and probably the walls too. The work they quoted was expensive but based on other quotes they were on the high side but in line.
They quoted 5 things to do. 2 of which they did not do at all, the other 3 they did attempt were complete fails. They incompetently or accidently unencapsulated our crawl space as well. We had to fix that ourselves. They came out 4 times and we had to be there to watch them since each time they did less work, and a worse job. The managers came out the last time and it looks laughable. If Orkin's goal was to keep doing so bad we'd say don't come back and quit wasting our time then you succeeded at that!
If this is the best you can do, your competitors appreciate you! Us on the other hand feel cheated out of our hard earned money for a miserably poor job. I plan on working my way up the Orkin chain of command and file a BBB complaint.

UPDATE AUGUST 2025: Thanks to the incompetent and poor installation of the solar snap our power bill the last two month has been the highest its ever been. Our attic temp is somewhere above 140F (thermometer only goes to 140). NGEMC came out and verified our electrical loads all normal. power bill the last two months is $250 higher than the highest bill we have ever had in 20 years, Thanks Orkin. See you in court.

spent over $17,000 with Orkin for Gutter Guard and mouse/squirrel control. Job was performed in November - found out this spring they remover my wifi rain gauge. They are NOT responsible - I dint notice until this Spring? These guys a sleazy - deny a $200 claim because after the amount of money I have spent with them. Don't pay their premium pricing - they don't stand behind their work!
All They Want is Your Money
Here’s your warning, do NOT use Orkin. They may have been a number one company once, but all they do now is try to push to get you into a monthly plan. For the first time in our 30 years at our home we started having an ant problem. We called Orkin for a single application which they said would take care of the ants. They did the application and said if we saw anything within a month we could call and they would repeat the application. We saw more ants a couple of weeks later and called. They did a second application. About a week and a half after the second application, the ants were back inside and outside the house. They came back and the guy treated outside the house and just left. Never came back inside. I complained to Orkin and got a call from a guy who then tried to guilt trip me on the phone about how much of their own money they were spending on our job and how they were “nice enough” to come out for the third application. Imagine, they did three applications when they told me one would do, I paid to have the pest eradicated, but they were being “nice” by coming out again spending their money …. BUT …. (heres where the other shoe drops) if I wanted to sign up for a monthly service they would be happy to do it. That’s their goal folks. They are NOT going to fix your problem up front because then they can’t make more money. They are going to do a half-assed job and then claim you need a $90 a month service. It’s all a scam in my opinion and my recommendation is run away from these shysters as fast as you can. Note that on their web site, you can’t leave a review. Their customer testimonials are hand-picked to make them look good. They wouldn’t dare allow customers to post real-time and let everyone see what they really do.
No Concern for my Family's Well Being
My wife has severe, life-threatening allergic reactions to scorpion stings. I contacted Orkin, and they sent out two specialists. Both specialists assured me that they could provide an effective treatment for scorpions. I hired them and they came out and treated. Just a week ago, I was putting on my pants in our bathroom after a shower and was stung several times by a scorpion hiding in my pants. Had that been my wife, she would have had to have been transferred to the emergency room by ambulance to save her life. I contacted Orkin, who refused to even talk to me on the phone but insisted on communicating via email because the management "was in meetings" all day. They refused to provide details on how they could improve the scorpion treatment and refused to acknowledge their commitment on scorpion treatment to protect my wife. They seemed completely unconcerned for the seriousness of their failure and my wife's well-being. They would not even talk to me about their failure and how we could improve their treatment program. They refused to speak to me and asked me to communicate my concern about my wife's safety via email. I fired them on the spot and went to Georgetown Pest Control. They come out Monday with a comprehensive, proven scorpion treatment plan. They have 738 Google reviews with a 5-star rating. I would immediately bypass Orkin at all costs. Check their reviews to validate anything I have stated herein

i called for a mice infestation. they came out and did an evaluation. they recommended a program called trap out. they brought 75 traps and set them around and came back and checked them every week for 4 weeks. they caught somewhere around 8 mice in 4 weeks. i was charged about $1200 which comes out to $150 per mouse caught. i called many many times to talk with a manager and finally after probably 10 attempts, a manager did call me back. he said don't worry, we will take care of you. he said he was going to bring out some special liquid to get rid of the mice but he never did. i have again called many times but no response again.

My house gets flooded even through rat traps are next to water house. They had nerve to scedual an appt nearly 2 months later. Really. ANSWER WE HAVE NO CONTROL OF RAT AND MOUSE BEHAVIOR. yet they get paid every month without presenting an invoice. Dont count on them guys are over worked, Noone can pass a pee test and they have no intention on dealing with your complaint. Phone people are worse. Get of your buts and talk to your customers. Go to terminal. They wont make you feel screwed dont know exactly date , I'll ask the plumber and the people that hauled off a hundred year old rug.
How is this company still in business??
We had a disgusting rat infestation and they were unable to even reduce the numbers of rats we had. My husband had to go get us five cats to solve the problem. They charge you to spray your property for mosquitoes and don’t even do the spraying. Overall horrible service.

I paid a year in advance for service every 3 months. They started coming monthly and billed me for every visit. I could never get this resolved despite frequent calls to Orkin “service advisors.”
Complete Failure at House Exclusion
Paid for House Exclusion for 10/31/24. Repeat visits over weeks still did not solve problem of rodents in house. Problem remains to this date June 2025. There was absolutely no relief of problem. Wasted thousands of dollars. Very disappointed and frustrated.

This review covers 5 years of using Orkin for Tick and Mosquito control outside .. This company is great !
They always come when they say and everyone who comes is always friendly and helpful .. They also do an incredible job because since I started with them I have never seen a tick on my Dog or anywhere else in our yard . Also there are barely any mosquitos anymore .. I Highly recommend them !!!

Do not bother to pick up the phone to call this company. Our first contact was a with a guy who tried every high pressure sales tactic he knew to get us to commit to a contract (before we even knew what kind of pests we were dealing with!), and when I told him I needed time to talk about it with my husband, he became rude and upset and told me he could hear my husband in the background! The regional manager reached out as a follow up call, and was professional enough that we booked a FREE appointment to determine what the issue was (first guy never mentioned that option - hmmm...intake call guys on commission - that's annoying) We booked an appointment for Saturday morning and waited around for 2 hours No one bothered to show up or call. When I called the main number back, they said they had our appointment listed for the day before (wrong) and no one had bothered to show up then either!
If you don't care to waste your time, look for a company that actually WANTS your business!
Diminished quality over the years
I've had Orkin for the better part of 10 years and at first I highly recommended them. Always on time, prepared, attentive, and remedied all issues. Now, however, they've turned into money hungry quick 30second spray company that I see no value in. We were originally promised weekends only for service with a couple days forewarning so we could be home and they could come in to spray. Now, they send a text 1 day before for a weekday time when we are at work. Trying to reschedule is a nightmare, so I typically just give up and let them do their "outside maintenance" for when we are not home. Turns out they dont even spray outside! They just walk around remove a spider web or two and call it a day. Wow, this company has gone downhill fast! I am giving them one final attempt to make this right or I am in the market for a new pest control company.
