Awful Orkin.

July 1, 2024 we first made contact with Orkin and set up a contract (for mice activity). By July 15th Orkin was still a NO SHOW. Multiple phone calls go unanswered as do emails. July 27, someone shows up. He does a cursory pass around the home. (The video Orkin sent us, clearly shows their service providers examining the home for entry points for rodents including going into the attic. This did not happen). The service provider then said someone else would return to set the black box poison traps. He also sprays the perimeter outside the home with a useless "essential oil". Right after this was sprayed and days following, we continued to live catch mice outside and mice continued to be active in our attic. August 12th, and finally he shows up to place the black boxes. The black boxes have proved useless and our mice activity in the attic is relentless. (So from July 1 to August 12th Orkin was a no show). Oct. 18th I called to cancel our contract. We leave phone messages and emails and are completely ignored. As of October 22, the black boxes are still around our home and we cannot sleep for the mice activity in the attic. Orkin should not be in business It's disgraceful!

Do not use Orkin !!! They lock you into 1 year contracts way overpriced !!!
Horrible billing and poor plan trying to lock people into 12 months.

Working is very unprofessional the…

Working is very unprofessional the ladies in the office in the Hickory, North Carolina branch the one is very rude and has an attitude and has a smart mouth! When they owe you a service that you already paid for around you don’t even tell you that they won’t come out and do your service now because they don’t know What’s going on in our own service! There’s a couple guys that come out there either looking at your butt or they’re picking their nose while they’re standing at your door on camera. They need to get better people and managers at the Hickory office.

Absolutely horrendous experience

Absolutely horrendous experience dealing with this company. Thought I had bed bugs. They completely no showed after we took off work. Then my wife was on the phone for like an hour and a half trying to get someone. When someone finally came out, he was asking my wife completely inappropriate questions (i had left for work by this point) like how much we bought our house for, etc. Then he tried to sell us a 6k mice treatment (haven't actually seen a live mouse yet in the house and not why we had them come). The worst part is I feel completely taken advantage of. The guy completely misdiagnosed the problem, and took advantage of our desperation by treating for bed bugs (about 1k to spray). I later figured out it was oak mites outside that were the issue. How do I figure this out in an hour of googling but a "professional" is completely unaware of this? Probably because their training is as good as their customer service. I then submitted a complaint online and then of course no one responds. Then we get another bill in the mail and we call and they apparently had scheduled a random day to come back out for another treatment but had not contacted us at all. WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH, THEY ARE A JOKE AND ONLY CARE ABOUT TAKING YOUR MONEY. I hope they fail and their business collapses

Rating of '0'.

If an option I would rate '0' for Orkin. Terrible company, dishonest. Mice infestation & ants. Told the weather was getting cooler, not so many ants.
It's easy to see why Orkin was rated 1.2. Highly recommend West Coast Pest Control rated 4.5.

bed bugs

We found bed bugs in our home. It was a moderate infestation. We had had another pest control company inspect our home 3 months prior and they couldn't find anything... it turns out they were wrong and the mild problem grew.

We paid Orkin a couple thousand dollars to come and treat our home. We got rid of all of our furniture except for a piano and our kitchen table/ chairs and we put all of our clothing in plastic bins after heating them in a dryer for an hour. Our home looks absolutely barren without pictures, rugs, furniture, etc.

After 3 treatments, we are still finding bedbugs.

Before anybody claims we are just reinfesting our home, let me be very clear that we have not slept in or used 3 of our bedrooms (which are now completely empty) since we initially found the bugs and that is where we have found them-- perfectly healthy bed bugs hanging out like nothing happened. Most of them were found around the homemade lures/ traps that I made after one of my desperate internet searches for bed bug solutions. My husband has redone all of the caulk around the baseboards and sealed up any cracks and I have started purchasing Crossfire online myself. We are also waiting for the professional heater that we bought online to arrive so that we can treat our home with heat.

Our bed bug problem has reduced significantly, but all it takes is one pregnant female and in a few months we will have another infestation.

I have called Orkin to come back a 4th time and was told they cannot come back until it has been 14 days since the last treatment (it has been 9 days). The receptionist was very cold and had a harsh tone in her voice when telling me this, which I admit I did not handle well. I am traumatized by the bed bugs and the loss of 90% of our belongings-- I need kindness and understanding, lol.

I feel like Orkin's workers, while well intentioned, are not very knowledgeable when it comes to bed bugs. The man who sprayed our home acted incredulous that we still had bed bugs because he was extremely thorough when he treated our home. The 3rd time he came, he saw one of the bugs alive in one of my homemade traps and that seemed to appease him. I guess they thought I was lying about finding live ones still.

If I could go back, I would just buy Crossfire (the product Orkin used) and steri-fab online myself for a few hundred dollars and saved myself a couple thousand dollars. I do think they are well intentioned, but their products are not great and their knowledge is minimal.

Do not trust this company do not use…

Do not trust this company do not use this company. You can’t delete your credit card information on your account login and when you call they give you the run around. They schedule appointments without your approval then charge you if they go out . You can’t cancel on the app , you can only reschedule. You can not do anything on app but pay and reschedule. They make it impossible to cancel or do anything.

Treatment did not work. They did not schedule and return for follow ups when expected.
8 months of their service and the problem still isn't taken care of.

I have been with Orkin for 8 years

I have been with Orkin for 8 years, they have truly gone down hill. My dog almost dies because a trap was left open, I called to let the manger know, James asked me why I called and what was it that I wanted. I was then told they treat rats anymore, I made an anonymous call to ask if they did treat for rats and was told yes.
I then called to talk to another manger, higher up, she said she would email my plan, as of two weeks I haven't received anything. Customer service sucks!!
I seem to always have ant and spider issues after they leave, I've given up. I would NEVER recommend them to anyone.

This is a very bad company. I called them to assess my house and the inspector didn't know what to look for. Endup not giving me the price. The service couldn't be worse Get another company. Mediocre!!!

Massive Hornet Invasion on my roof

I had a massive bee, wasp, hornet invasion on my roof of a 3400 sq ft house. I tried to resolve it myself, by purchasing every known bee/killer spray available at various stores and all it did was make the problem a million times worse. So I called every exterminator company within 50 miles that shows online as open 24/7 and handles emergency bee removal, no one would either answer the phone or come out. After spending 2 days on the phone, I called Orkin, out of Georgia. They booked me immediately and the super bee manager or the world Dave out of Wilmington MA showed up within the hour. He provided exceptional service. Very neat, very polite, a positive personality, extremely respectful, highly knowledgeable, and kept at my roof until every last bee/hornet/wasp died. He told me to check back in 24 hours. I did and not one single bee/hornet/wasp could be found anywhere. Dave will be my first call if I ever have another invasion anywhere on my properties.

Tanisha is polite, helpful and efficient. Todd who has been spraying our house for 20 years is pleasant, efficient, and educates us as he works. His sense of humor us also much appreciated. We live in Kapuskasing

Orkin set up an inspection for today…

Orkin set up an inspection for today between 2:00 and 4:00 PM and never showed. I wasted 2 hrs waiting for them when I could have been doing something else. Terminix came as promised, guess who is getting the job!

SHAME ON ORKIN FOR TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE ELDERLY!!

!!!BEWARE!!! My elderly father paid Orkin over 2 years for German cockroaches with no results at all. The “manager” for our location was the tech coming to the house and he did absolutely nothing. He walked around the house for a few minutes every time then left. My dad said it would only take about 5 minutes for each visit. (My father did not question it as the working tech is supposed to be a professional.) My father has a 2K sf home! There is no way it was treated in 5 minutes time. I called to complain. I asked them to not allow the same tech into my dad’s house. Later that day the “manager” was caught by my son walking down the hallway of the house. He never knocked or had permission to enter. And he knew he wasn’t supposed to be there because he stated so when my son asked him “what are you doing inside this house?” The “manager” stated he wanted to leave some paperwork for the other tech. That same day some suits came to look at the house. They admitted a better job could have been done. The bait boxes had not been changed in 4 months and bursting with both live and dead roaches. I was promised a free $400 treatment that would get rid of the roaches in a couple weeks. They also tried to sell new attic insulation for $10K. Said Nope to the insulation but stated they could at least do the service since we have been ripped off for so long. Never got anything after that. It’s like that day never happened. We just had a different tech come out once and do nothing different. I called and spoke with the suit, he said he had no way of tracking if his “promises” were ever carried out. I told him that was horrible business and there is no excuse for non-action during a problem situation. A day later I called to cancel and was told I needed to speak with someone else to end the account and they would call me that same day. A week later I had to call again because I hadn’t heard anything. I advised the young lady on the phone that I wanted the account terminated right then and there. She was apologetic and very nice. The only one who did anything worthwhile in my opinion.

Disgraceful

Disgraceful! They are quick to take our money with NO RESULTS and lack of service that is non-existent. Since July 13 we have been waiting for results. After a no show we got an agent who did a cursory walk around the home, didn't get into the attic area where the rodent issue is and the traps have still not been set out. The Orkin "magic spray" is less than useless. After being applied, we caught over 4 consecutive days, live mice in live traps, all perfectly healthy. If they have staff issues or any other kind, they should NOT make pledges they are incapable of keeping. And its expensive for no results.

July 31 2024…

I signed up with Orkin and it was signed up to come out to my house on Saturday at my house is supposed to be fully exterminated the guy came here and asked me where do I see him every time I ask him a question all he could say is huh huh I took him to the back bedroom started at the back bedroom he did one spray in the bedroom he didn't spray the full bedroom didn't do the bathroom there's one strip in the hallway the first bedroom I didn't even see him put anything down he didn't do nothing in the front room in the kitchen I showed him where I needed it done he only did a little bit cuz I live in a mobile home and I don't know what he did by my kitchen window he didn't do cabinets he didn't do behind the stove the refrigerator and then he went outside and how much around the house he did my BFF was there and followed him outside to make sure he did around the house as soon as he came in the door he wanted payment he told me the receipt will be on my email I said no I was supposed to get a paper receipt and paperwork so I can show my landlord I received nothing he was here maybe 15 no more than 20 minutes very unsatisfied he did not do everything I told Orchid this is not what I signed up for the first time was supposed to be a full thing of the house and then if you see anything afterwards you could call them so they could do a touch up oh we can sign you up for another day and we can send the same gentleman oh no I don't want him coming here because he would not answer no questions so he was in a hurry to go to another job I to me I'm so dissatisfied I want my money back this is too much I shouldn't have to have somebody else come back when they should have did the first time and then you want me to pay for what he didn't do nothing the first time and then you say free and you still want me pay they should send somebody out and refund my money I shouldn't have to keep having them come back out because they don't want to give me my money that's not right like they said you're dissatisfied you can't get your money back that's how I feel I don't want them to keep coming to my house when they did absolutely nothing the first time around and everything I was told was supposed to have been done was not done he asked me about contracts I haven't seen no contracts and like I told the young lady that I signed up with that I had Vision issues and I don't do small letters especially on the Internet or on text messages so I just feel like this just isn't a good fit
