Do not use Orkin because they are not…
Do not use Orkin because they are not good and do not know how to get rid of pest such as roaches, ants, spiders, or rats. Orkin is the worst company to use and their customer service is horrible. Do not waste your time or money.
Employees left trash all over yard
I had a whole house termite fumigation. Employees left trash all over yard, Broke multiple screens when not necessary, left about 15 metal clips all over yard which is a extremely dangerous when cutting grass, used my ladders and left them leaning against screens and thrown on floor also broke aluminum supports from my patio, they also subcontract the work to a smaller company. Will not use again or recommend to anyone.
I was honest about using another…
I was honest about using another exterminator in the past when calling to book my appointment. And I also told the exterminator. He asked me if I plan to use both companies? I told him no. Then my contact was canceled without notifying me. When I asked why? I was told that me the customer canceled the contract, due to having another exterminator. Then they told me I needed permission from my leasing agent. My manager found no problem with this then they asked my manager if I was using both exterminators and he said no as if I would lie about that. I'm not a child, you made me feel like I was a liar. I need a company that works with me not against me. Check your reviews, I wish I had before I gave your company a dime of my money. You did me a favor by creating all this drama.
I used the LaCrosse office for bed bug…
I used the LaCrosse office for bed bug treatment. They charged over $100.00 just for the inspection and $1600 to treat the problem.. The bugs showed up again and I was told I would need to repay the inspections well as the $1600. Their paper work states that if pest issues come back "we will come back and address the problem at no additional charge". If you want to get ripped off call Orkin!
I hate to write this review
I hate to write this review. I have had a good experience with Orkin for several years. However, this year things have gone downhill. The last time Orkin serviced my home was in January 2024. Orkin services my home every 2 months; which should have been March and now May 2024. They rescheduled my appointment several times during the month of March and April. We are now walking into May and I haven’t even heard from Orkin. April 29th was the last scheduled appointment. I still have not heard from Orkin as of today. I have automatic withdraw for my payment every month. During mid April I contacted them to discuss their absence. Although, I continued to make payments every month. I called in April
and they agreed not to charge me for the month of April and set up more than one appointment but never showed up. They actually did charge me after all. I had to call to request a refund. I am really unhappy with Orkin. Especially, since I told friends and family how professional and respectful they were. I’m hoping Orkin will reach out to me. What ever office services 20019.
Orkin - Please read before contracting with them. Learn from my mistake
Orkin made me sign a contract a-priori. When the Orkin exterminator came for the first time after I signed the contract, he only took a five minutes tour of the premises and promptly declared: " I will be back in two weeks too do the treatment (against mice and roaches), which Orkin AND the exterminator were told by me beforehand, including on the day he came, a couple of hours before he came. Now, how difficult it is to set a few mice traps and spray for roaches. What kind of complicated preparation he needed in order to prepare for the treatment?
Besides, I told him to treat the attic (which is completely empty), and he did not bother to go up to the attic. Two weeks later he returned, did some treatment, wrote a whole list of treatments (some of which were not done or done partially), and left. Again, no attic. After I complained to Orkin, the exterminator came back (two weeks later) and took a perfunctory look at the attic, but did not do any treatment. Said he "will be back in two weeks" to do the treatment. This looks like the standard answer.
Actually, now I wish I would've looked at the very bad reviews Orkin has before I contracted them. Besides, I tried to talk to the exterminator's manager at the Sykesville office, I was told (on Thursday) by the secretary that he was not in the office and that he will call me back on Monday. Today is Thursday, and no callback yet, even though I called several times. I guess my mistake was not asking "Monday of which year"?
Inflated Prices, No Transparency and No Ethics
My husband and I contacted Orkin because we understood this company does stellar work and has strong customer service and ethics. Depending upon resolution, this review may lose a star or two. After reporting a mouse problem on our property, we signed a contract for regular mouse control, and also for separate one for insulation work with several tasks, as presented to us as necessary by the estimator. The work was quoted as $9500.00. We requested the contract with scope of work, as discussed, before we agreed and signed. We only received a general contract with the fee amount. We made it clear to the local Orkin branch office that we would need the written scope of work before we signed anything. We received a screen shot of the scope, separate from the general contract. It should not have been that hard to get it. After we were sent that, we signed that contract and the work commenced on April 22, 2024. We agreed to pay by check upon the completion. The estimator who provided the quote informed us that the two attic entrances (scuttle holes) were small and needed to be larger to accommodate the assigned staff. We agreed to this as part of the work prior to the attic being cleared, sanitized, sealed, and reinsulated. On day one, the scuttle holes were not enlarged prior to other work being done. The staff was able to get into the entrances. The project lead informed me that the contractor would not be able to come do the work due to an oversight on their part. I was informed that the contractor would come after the insulation was installed. At first, I thought that because we needed the entrances to be bigger, that this was fine. It wasn't. My husband questioned why the contractor was coming when it was clear that the Orkin employees completed the rest of the work without making the holes larger. I had agreed to have the contractor come on the morning of Wednesday, April 24, 2024. After my husband and I discussed the issue, we contacted Orkin manager, Tony Lopez that morning and informed him that we objected to doing this work after the fact after everything was in place. We just paid to have new insulation installed and making new holes would disturb that. It didn't make sense. We were ready to pay once the work was complete. During that call on Wednesday morning, I informed the Mr. Lopez to forward an invoice with the deduction for the work that was not performed according to the contract. We did not discuss the amount of the adjustment. Today, I sent an email to the general office address and asked for the adjusted invoice with itemization of the work because we had not received it yet. Instead, I received a phone call from the office manager, Missy. She wanted to collect payment and stated that "we" agreed on $200.00 as the deduction. I don't know who the "we" is that agreed to that insulting number. My husband and I are well aware of usual rates for enlarging an attic scuttle hole: this starts at $500.00, each. So, obviously, the already inflated invoice would be adjusted by only $200.00 total. Give me a break. I informed her that the Mr. Lopez should call me because I knew she is was not authorized to make that decision. I also gave her an earful of how dishonest and insulting it is to be given that ridiculous figure as if my husband and I are not educated enough to know better. I am livid. Mr. Lopez called me. That did not go well. I informed him that I sent two separate emails after the conversation with Missy. I restated to Mr. Lopez, when the contractor did not come to do the holes, and we realized it was not necessary, per the estimator's statements, I informed the project lead that we would pay once the appropriate deduction was made. Mr. Lopez made a weak attempt to gaslight both of us today by suggesting that 1. We were the ones who changed our minds about the scuttle holes, despite his acknowledgement that it was not done before other work was performed per their mistake, and 2. tried to use my reactivity as a reason to not make this right. Civil discussions do not imply honest intentions. I stated to Mr. Lopez that contractors normally charge $500.00 to do this work on ONE scuttle hole. He suggested deducting only $500.00 and I clarified EACH. Mr. Lopez replied, "No way." I informed him that we had a problem and he agreed. I hung up. He called back and suggested that we were disconnected (clearly he knew that was not the case). I stated, "No. I definitely hung up on you." He remained quiet and then the call disconnected. My husband and I trusted this company and it's local office to be honest, transparent and responsive. That is not what happened. We are more than happy to pay for services once Orkin makes this right.
Bad service, not a reliable company
We called Orkin to come and get rid of a very large bee nest. However, they never showed up, nor did they call and tell us why they were unable to get to our house during the assigned time. We ended up just canceling the appointment completely! I do not recommend this company. They are unreliable!
Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service, first of all we called Orkin for a free quote after 20 plus minutes of a very pushy sales associate we decided to try Orkin out they scheduled our first appointment which I took work off for. They canceled that appointment and rescheduled for the next day. I arranged my schedule to accommodate the next day. Then get another call that evening to cancel that said appointment. Would not recommend this company as your pest service provider as they can even service new customers. Adam’s is who I would recommend.
Update 4/1/24
Update 4/1/24, 1 year and 2 months since my initial contact. I had confirmed with multiple agents that they canceled my service, yet I received another message and email notifying me of another scheduled service and charge of $113. Conveniently, the customer service center was closed when they sent my email so I cannot effectively cancel this appointment. Not only is the service not worth it (very little results), it is a scam and they lock you in for long after you agreed to treatment. Find anyone else except for Orkin
Customer Service is unreachable
Once you sign up for the service, it is impossible to get someone on the phone. For anything .. even if you want an additional service. It also at least twice more expensive than other similar companies.
The lack of Common courtesy
Orkin drivers are the most inconsiderate drivers on the road. Worse than that, they are totally arrogant about it. If they want to drive slow, that's fine. But they have no right forcing it on everyone behind them. God forbid there might be a medical emergency being held up by one of these 'orkin' drivers. A major liability for that company, which they don't care about because there has been more than just one or two incidents with these people.
I am livid!!
I am livid!!! Orkin Pest Control has the worst customer service ever!!
Several years ago we began service with them. I later came to learn from the regional sales manager that the original salesman overcharged us and did not do right by us and he was let go from Orkin for unscrupulous acts. But that’s not the worst of it.
In November of 2022 I called to make the final payment on our account for the year (we pay quarterly) and was told by customer service that they did not see a balance on my account. I was given another number to call and was also told by them they saw no balance on my account. A few weeks later in December 2022 I called the local branch again to make a payment and was told the same thing, no balance on our account however our renewal cost for the new year was going up. (And quite a bit higher). I asked for an explanation and was told they weren’t sure. I requested a call back from the branch manager. I received no call back.
A few days later I called again. Customer service told me the branch manager had left me a voicemail, however I had received no such voicemail (and have record of all my voicemails to prove it. )
Christmas came and then early spring and it had completely slipped my mind that he had not called me back. Once I realized that I had not received a new bill and that my service tech had not been to our home I called again.
And Again he was not in so I requested the manager to call me back. I had no clue what was going on with my account. I am always faithful to making payments on time and the only issues I had at that point was the question as to why that the renewal price had gone up so high and why had I not received a new bill. (It went from $353. to $470) I deserved an explanation.
At that point I was then told by the service center that my account was no longer active. When I asked why, I was told it was due to a “lack of payment”. What?? You mean for the payment I tried to pay on three different occasions??
Needless to say I was livid. I left another message for the branch manager, Robert Blanco, to call me back. Two weeks later and I still had not received a phone call from him.
This was getting very old.
So Once again I called and was told he was going to find out why the jump in price and would get back to me. He said that he would also take us out of the “non payment” status while he looked into it.
Two weeks later STILL NO FOLLOW UP CALL. I spoke with someone at the call center who once again left a message for the branch manager to call me back. She said I was to get a call back within 24-48 hours. And no surprise but Seventy two hours later still no call back.
More than a week later I received a phone call back from the manager. He agreed to give us a lower rate and would come out to inspect our property and reestablish service accordingly. I paid the portion that I had tried to pay earlier along with the new annual fee- that would give us service through June of 2024. I was also told that in June of 2024 my rate would then increase to higher rate. All was taken care of, or so I thought.
Fast forward to two weeks ago. I called Orkin to see what the new rate would be at that time of renewal. And at that point Customer service told me that we HAVE NO SERVICE. What do you mean??? Again I left a message for the branch manager to call me back. It has taken two weeks for him to call me back.
He told me that Orkin chose not to not re-establish my service in June if 2023, even though they took my credit card payment of $457!
I received no communication from them- no email, no letter, no phone calls, nothing with an explanation as to why. He also states that they sent me a refund check in the mail in December of 2023- 6 months after they took my credit card payment.
I have yet to receive any such check.
Orkin Pest Control’s customer service lacks integrity and professionalism. One hand does not know what the other is doing. Phone calls are not returned promptly, if at all. It’s obvious their billing department is a mess. Buyer beware! Especially with their termite service!! They only care about the almighty dollar and not the needs of the customers. Find a smaller company that you can trust your home with- because Orkin surely is not it!
Orkin is no longer the best
Been a customer since I built my house in 2018. The first exterminator that use to come by, kept the house clear of bugs. Then once that guy left the company is when we started getting guys that half do the job and the bugs became out of control. We live in Florida near ponds and oak trees etc. My thing is the price keeps going up and they don’t send out correspondence to let you know. The price for service just went up twice in 6-8 months. Unacceptable. I could see if they gave you a warning about price increase like most companies, but they do not. Then tried to knock a few dollars down when I became frustrated after paying for the service after a quarterly treatment. Nah. I can find a company more reasonable with a deal at the old price I had previously which sprays/treatments gets the job done. The service is becoming unaffordable and it use to be the best! The new exterminator they have to spray the house is cool and does her job well. I think she should be working elsewhere though because this place isn’t it.
The reason I gave a 2 star review is
The reason I gave a 2 star review is, the girl I talk to set up the inspection/ service call was very kind and professional.. however the local orkin branch in my area is very unprofessional..when I set up my appointment I told them I live in a gated community in La Quinta Ca.. our community, as do many other community's require vendors to get a transponder to get into gate, which they are charged for.. apparently this Branch didnt pay what they owe, so even though I called to tell the gate to let then pass... they would not let them in due to the transponder not returned and or paid for.. so the Driver/ technician did call to let me know, and I was not upset with her at all...but I did call the original number I called, and spoke to them, I explained what happened, and told the girl who answered the phone.( not the same girl that set up the appointment) I waited all day. My window for for service was between 12 and 3 , it was 138 when the tech called and told me what happened, she said she called the office and that someone would cLl me and try to reschedule. I also called the 800 # and was told they would have that particular brach give me call back, but guess what? I got no call from anyone so I guess they dont want me as their customer.. they could have just said we dont service that area when I originally called..then I could have gotten someone else to come..but noooo. Now I have to my family comimg and I have no time to contact anyone to service my home befor my they arrive .. very very un professional .. not a sorry or anything.. I even got emails that said someone would call.. bottom line.. you couldn't pay me to use this company..
THEY WILL SCREW YOU! BEWARE!
We heard scratching in our attic and called Orkin to take a look on 12/23/23. They said we had a mice infestation and required a full insulation replacement. They told us they'd replace all the blown insulation and batting, decontaminate the attic, and replace it with their cellulose insulation that is rated at an R-49 at 13" with an entrapment in the crawl space.
We were not given a contact. This contract was supposed to be emailed on 12/27/2023 and has never been emailed. We received a copy on 12/30/2023 after the work had been completed. This took us asking the installer upon arrival, calling the main office 3 times, calling the salesman 7 times, and texting the sales person 3 times before speaking to the insulation man 4 more times to receive it. (That's 19 times).
During the installation the workers did not remove the batting. They said that wasn't included. We still did not have paperwork. After 4 calls between an installer and a district manager they agreed to do the work but acted as if they were giving us a "free deal" which was absolutely not true. They could not replace our insulation that day and left us without insulation while the temperatures outside dropped to the 30s. The house could get warm because of the lack of insulation and racked up a hefty electric bill.
We were told that a licensed electrician would be called after the insulation was removed to see if mice damaged the wires. Orkin (who are not licensed electricians) determined an electrician did not need to be called and went ahead with the insulation installation. There was chew damage to the wires that they did not acknowledge.
We are still missing batting that wasn't fully replaced.
We were charged for Orkin's yearly pest control service without ever signing paperwork (they confirmed this) and a service man lied and reported that he did a home visit. No one came. We've yet to be fully refunded for this, but they had no problem stealing from us without signed paperwork or providing any service.
Orkin claims that we only pay once we are satisfied and the job is completed. And we aren't satisfied and the job wasn't finished.
It is now 2/5/24 and we are still waiting for them to finish the job.
NO customer service
Orkin used to be a good company... the first couple of years their service folks came every six months to check termite base stations, and once a year to do a complete inspection including a crawl space check... a few years ago they changed. bait station checks were scheduled at random intervals, and techs began just shining a flashlight thru the crawl space access instead of actually checking the full space. In addition, the techs began upselling services, including window sill and frame repairs that my contractor said were not needed.
According to my bank, Orkin has always informed them whenever there is a change in the address for bill payment. Orkin failed to do this, so payments were returned. I emailed Orkin to check on the problem. Christina Johnson in customer service gave me the latest address, and I let the bank know.
In the meanwhile, I set up autopay on their website, so billings would be paid on time.
I emailed Christina to let her know what I had done and asked her what to do next. That message was sent on 11/30/2023.
I've heard nothing since.
No charge has posted for Orkin service.
Today (2/2/2024) I checked Orkin website... my account shows no payment due, no services scheduled. looks like they have abandoned my service. I emailed Christina, told her since they had abandoned my account I was cancelling the autopay.
I attempted to cancel the autopay, but the Orkin website would not allow it. every time I tried, the website flashed an error code saying the server had timed out the request.
I then edited the credit card info on file with Orkin to show a January 2024 expiration date, making it expired, and making it impossible to put through a charge.
I await the further developments....
UPdate 9/25/2024.....nothing further from Orkin... I thought maybe I would hear from someone who would try to get me to "re-up", but nope!
guess they don't need my business.
Orkin is a scam
Orkin is a scam. It’s been a year and I still have not received my refund promised by working for over a full year since then I have spent over 15 full 1 hr lunch breaks trying to resolve this issue with Orkin. They continue to tell me they are unable to give me a refund back on my card because to much time has passed. The only reason so much time has passed is because no matter how many times I called they never called me back or told me they had to send me to another branch or have someone follow back up with me. Then I was sent a paper check name wrong. Go to about 5 diff places to cash it and 3 out of 5 told me the check was not legit and one guy even laughed at me. Orkin when the inspection was first performed he did not even inspect anything all he did was set bait traps and spray. I paid terminix over 14,000 for attic and crawlspace clean up because it was full of dead rats and openings under my crawl place. They never showed up for the termite inspection when I saw swarms of termites at my home. Again I just spent yet another lunch break on the phone with Orkin and still no refund or no attempt to even help or even offer to send a new check.
Explained that I needed an WDIR wood…
Explained that I needed an WDIR wood destroying insect report, for a va loan and all was well until the day of inspection. The tech called and said that they could not supply a report unless we had an infestation and they removed it. Wasted our time. Useless company.
Exterminator never showed up.
Hello: Please don’t provide your debit card information before you receive services. The technician never called or showed up. Thanks.
