2 weeks ago I contacted ORKIN. I signed up for service gave them credit card to hold and told some would call and schedule an appointment. No one called. If they are not interested, I am not interested. I cancelled my service and will look elsewhere.

Do not use this company

Do not use this company, we paid for them to come every month $62. I believe it was and still had the same issues. I called and talk to the service manager Shelly. She wanted to come back to our home to take a look at what pets we were still having, which is ridiculous because the same technician knew what the issue was, but wasn’t treating everything properly. I thought that’s what they were all about. I asked to be refunded and she said no. I believe that they use water to be honest because there’s no reason why those two tiny little pets that we had were not illuminated.

Late service, Rude technician

Our technician was late. I had to call several times to find out where he was. Finally I got someone that said he was running about 15 minutes behind. Would that be okay? I keep this service window from 8:00 to 10: 00.AM because I work 12 hour night shifts and I sleep before I go into work. However, I agreed to let him come out late this time if they offered a discount to which they agreed to give me $20 off for the inconvenience. When the technician finally did show up and it was later than 15 minutes he was rude to me. I asked him why he couldn't text or call if he was running late and he would never let me finish my sentence for rambling on about why he was late. He had to go back and get equipment. I said if that's all great and well but you should have called me to tell me you were running late. He got rude to my face basically yelling at me and telling me if I was going to chastise him he would leave to which my husband told him to leave because he was basically in my face the whole time.That's how rude he was. I have since canceled my account with working and I will not do service with them again nor will I recommend them. I have not really seen any improvement since using their services as well.

I had them come cause a mice got in my house some how so they blocked all entrances from outside which was. experience. Then they put down some traps which is so outdated the mice just walks past them we had better traps then orkin has . U can never get them on the phone 2 come back for service.
What a mess this co is terrible.Go somewhere else Rip Off. We was doing better than them before they came in our home. We r so upset with this rip off pest control
Stay Away spread the word plz. They offer a 50 dollars off 4 first pest services What a Joke we never got a dime

Customer care and satisfaction isn’t a priority.

Most recently, I called the office to reschedule my appointment on 08-04-2023 for time 4p-6p because I work daily until 4p and the woman in the office put in a note for my preference and that I worked daily until 4p. I was called at 1:44p by the tech, who obviously didn’t read or get the note, and asked if he could come sooner. I explained that I worked until 4p and wanted him to come after I got off work. He said okay and that he would do so. He called me again at 3:23p and told me he was 30 minutes away and heading my way. He showed up at 3:40p… 17 minutes later. I was very upset over his lack of consideration and respect for my wishes for him to show up after I got off work at 4p. The previous time I had a tech out they were an hour late and didn’t bother to call and let me know they were running late and so I wasted most of my day waiting on him, then had to leave for an appointment. He said they were short staffed and apologized. I asked for him to reschedule and he talked me into just doing the outside and returning another time to do the inside. Again, lack of consideration and respect for the customer. I let it slide and didn’t report it to the office, but did tell him to please be considerate next time and let the customer know if he will be later than the quoted time. But with my experience with the tech on 08-04-2023, it is evident the staff just don’t care what the customer wants or how their work (or lack there of) affects the customer’s day. So I decided to cancel my subscription and will go to a company with better customer service. I spoke with a woman in the office on the phone this past Friday to report the tech and she was not the most pleasant or understanding. I proceeded to ask to have my services canceled, to which she went ahead without even asking why. I then told her I wanted to file a complaint, she seemed annoyed by this, and I told her about the last two techs and the inconvenience they caused. She couldn’t care less and appeared to, out of obligation, agree that the tech’s actions were wrong and she would send a message to their supervisor and have the supervisor (Tom/Todd??) call me to follow up. I’ve yet to receive a call back. Again, no one seems to care. I was, however, reminded that I would have to pay $57 for this month since the tech came out and sprayed the outside of my home, even though it wasn’t when I wanted him to and I, for the second time, couldn’t have the inside of my home sprayed because the tech didn’t come when he was supposed to. Great way to keep customers! Very disappointed and seems customer satisfaction and support is NOT a priority to Orkin. Fortunately, there are lots of other companies to choose from and I can go elsewhere. No, I would not recommend Orkin to anyone. The bugs mostly stayed out of the home, that’s the only positive, but other companies can offer the same results.

No show, no call.

We scheduled service for our vacation rental in Maine. The company never showed up for the scheduled appointment with no call or email. Three days later, a rep knocked on the door of our home a half hour past the quoted appointment window. Thankfully our clients were out of the house. This was for ants that had been seen near our entrance. We treated for them ourselves.

Same two things this year as last year

Same two things this year as last year. First item is I leave messages (voice mail and with a live rep) to be called back by the manager and no one ever responds (two years in a row) Second is a complaint when the technician needs to fill his tanks with water. I have beautiful gardens and an extensive hose and watering system with sprinklers and timers (coming from three different hose faucets around the house) both this year and last year the technicians needed to fill their tanks so they go to a faucet on the house where I usually have hoses and Y-connectors coming off the one faucet, They actually try to unscrew the y-connectors and get the water then leave the faucet OFF. Most recently this faucet was connected to a timer so that routine got screwed up. When I turned the faucet back ON, it leaked badly because he didn't put all then parts back together properly. This company is impossible to deal with and soon I will be looking elsewhere. I hope they read these complaints

Customer service was a disservice

All we asked is that Orkin notify us 24 hours in advance of their visit. We needed to assure one of us was home to assure they could get into our secure building. We live in a condo with inside entrances. Only once in 15 months did we receive advanced notice. The other times we were not home—therefore didn’t receive our service timely. We called each time and were assured we would be notified. Not so much. Their customer service was a disservice.

Bugs got worse, they don’t care for your opinion

I called them on April to set rat traps in the attic. This they did ok. However for pest control, I started getting roaches AFTER they started coming and got worse and worse, at the point I cancelled today since it’s clear what they are doing has 0 (or negative effect). North Charleston brand, they couldn’t care less why I was leaving and didn’t even ask for feedback. DO NOT HIRE THEM

I have been paying monthly after the…tired of paying for nothing

I have been paying monthly after the initial down payment and haven't seen any lmprovement with my big issues. Bought a house that had some big issues that we were not aware of. Called orkin supposed to be the best! Paid 150.00 in the beginning and 43 and some change monthly. I honestly think they are spraying water!!!! I've had 3 different techs from orkin come out and each has said"you really don't have a bad infestation". Well infestation is getting worse. When you pay for services monthly I feel they should Spray monthly. They don't or at least use something that kills the bugs. They come out every other month. The only reason they got 1 star rating is cause they are good at ripping people off.

Try Dodson!

First of all, Orkin doesn't stick with what you request.
They have to add other services. I guess their technicians are trained to be salesmen. I know this because we called Orkin back in the early 90s. They used all kinds of ambiguous words: you "might" have "the very beginning stages" of a "potential" moisture problem. Momentarily forgetting that experience, I called upon them again a couple of years ago. We had a dryzone policy with them, which we cancelled last year. Recently, they have been harassing us about renewal. I received a bill and returned the bill with a WRITTEN NOTE that the account had been cancelled. Received a second bill. CALLED them to again say we had cancelled. I was told that that's "just what they do." They send you three bills and when you don't pay it, they close the account for nonpayment. Really? Less than a week ago, I received an email (third notice). I EMAILED back and forth with a Renewal Specialist who again explained that eventually the account would be cancelled for nonpayment. That is highly offensive to me and I let her know that and asked that she share my concerns with those in charge. I don't appreciate being made to feel like I've done something wrong. I haven't neglected or refused to pay my bill. I have simply asked that the account be cancelled - over and over. SO. Today, I receive a telephone message AGAIN "reminding" me that our renewal is due - FROM THE SAME LADY I HAD EMAILED WITH!! Honestly, there are just no words. I will not make the mistake again of "forgetting" how horrible Orkin's customer service is. Determined to sell customers services they don't need, and then not even letting you cancel services without harassing you and making you feel like a loser! Steer clear!

They are a total ripoff

They are a total ripoff. Paid 150.00 for them to spray one time. They refused to honor the call back within 30 days and we will spray again for free. Please look to another reputable business that honors what they say they will do.

No Show

Company no showed twice on us when we had scheduled appointments. When we called about it they did not care that they did not show up. DON'T RELY ON THEM TO SHOW UP, OR BETTER YET BOOK A DIFFERENT COMPANY!

Premium pricing for a terrible service

They charge a premium for a service that doesn't work. Our backyard has a lot of mosquitoes and bugs, to the point where it's unenjoyable just to sit out there.

Orkin boasts that they have an "incredible natural formula that removes the vast majority of bugs"

There was zero change the whole season. Plus, the techs somehow managed to cover my whole front and back yard in 5 minutes flat (I have a fairly large lot)

I cancelled after, and during the new season they put me on the schedule anyway.

Overall, terrible customer service and overpriced services that don't work.

Save your time and money. You will be disappointed.

Do this instead: Spend about $10 on Cutter's Backyard Bug Control and do the treatment yourself.

Since using this product, I've saved hundreds of dollars and I've seen maybe two mosquitoes.

Most importantly, the product actually does what it promises.

Unprofessional, no shows, still ants

Apparently Orkin doesn’t want my business. I spoke with someone named Mike on Friday 5/11/23 and scheduled an appointment for Saturday 5/12 between 2-4. I locked my cats in a room at 1:45 and put my dog on a leash so he would be contained during the service. I received both an email and a text at 2:15 saying Joe was on the way. At 4:15 when there was still no sign of Joe I called the 877 number and spoke with Donna. She apologized and assured me that someone would be to my house by 5. At 5:15 the cats were still locked up without a litter box and the dog still on a leash but still no Orkin technician. I called again & spoke with Dena. She apologized and said she’d escalate my complaint (No one showed at scheduled time nor at the in the extended time). Dena also said she would call me personally on Sunday 5/13 morning to make sure someone had been in touch (no one called, including Dena). Saturday evening I sent an email to the branch manager, Forrest. He called me twice that evening to ask questions and to apologize that no one had showed. I wanted it done asap because I still had ants so he said we could have someone come on Sunday. I didn’t want to waste another 3 plus hours to have no one show again, I wanted a set time. He said that Betty (Washington manager?) would call me at 8:30 am on Sunday 5/13 to set a time. Forrest, the manager said he would give me a discount. Great but I already used a coupon for the same amount. He said he’d give me more of a price break, yay, great value if the service had worked. At 10 am Sunday I hadn’t heard from Betty so I called the local Washington PA office and talked to her. She apologized (there’s an apology theme here even if no actual work is done). She said someone would come before noon. My answer was no, I wanted a set time because I wasn’t wasting half my day again. Betty got snarky and said she couldn’t predict traffic (neither can I but I manage to show up and get to my work and appointments on time) but we set the time for noon. A nice man named Steve showed up Sunday at around 11:45. Great. The discount was not on the bill so I told him about it. He called the office to confirm then added the extra discount. Steve didn’t investigate where the ants were entering but he treated the house by putting dabs of product down in some areas. He couldn’t spray around the outside because it was raining. He did put dry product around the outside. I asked if I could call and request the spray and he said yes but it would be someone else because this was not his usual area. I thanked him for coming. On Wednesday 5/17 someone named Brittany called and asked how the service went. Does she really want to know?? I told her great when someone finally arrived after my hounding them for 2 days. But I still have ants. She said she’d have Sean, another technician, call to discuss it and to apply more product and spray around the outside. If you guessed Sean never called, congrats, you got BINGO! I called Brittany on Monday, 5/22 morning. She told me she’d reach out to Sean personally. This brings us to tonight, Monday evening, still no call for them to treat again. And the ant population, which never completely went away, is now back and thriving. I chose Orkin because they offer a guarantee, have great reviews and someone recommended them to me. I’m still surprised by the lack of professionalism, missed appointments and the complete failure to rid my home of ants for more than 3 days. I was fooled by fake reviews.

Over charged and no service

I have been a customer with a small locally owned exterminator for over 10 years. Orkin bought them out. First they over charged my account - triple the price and did not fix it until I called. Next I called for wasp service and they said someone would be out the next day- no one ever showed up. I called three times and no one ever even called me back. I finally got through and canceled my service and they didn’t care at all and didn’t even apologize. Don’t use them, they do not care about the customer at all. It was very clear.
