Our experience with Rent hero was great through the whole process and we have nothing but good words to say about them.

It took our former landlord more than two months to give us back the apartment deposit. When he finally decided to proceed, he only wanted to pay a part of it and make us pay what we considered an abusive amount of money for painting and sand the floor.

Rent hero and Alex in particular kindly advised how to proceed under the circumstances, and they were able to quickly get our money back.

Alex was really fast answering our emails, and always very honest and explanatory.

Rent Hero is first of all the only way for expats to understand Copenhagen’s rental legislation. They provide endless explanations on the law governing the rental market, letting you discover how landlords nowadays rip you off by overcharging your rent. Initiating a legal battle with a danish landlord, often a big company, is Indeed scarring.
It took me a while before I was finally confident in doing it, and just thanks to the very exhaustive explanations from Alex and his confidence.
The process was very clear. We decided together a strategy to approach the landlord and get my absurd rental cost to what was the right and maximum legal value (30% less!!). Then everything was taken care by Rent Hero. I had to literally do nothing but waiting for their action with the landlord, and they managed to basically close the deal in 5 days.

Rent Hero's services were very professional and efficient - I was regularly informed of the progress of my case and Alex and Mads have managed to cut a good deal with my landlord.

I am from a third world developing country. Whenever my friends from other countries drop by for a visit, I warn them about taxi scams (pre-ride sharing days). In a progressive and modern society such as Copenhagen, the equivalent of taxi scams are the landlords, who takes advantage of foreigners' lack of local housing knowledge and charge excessive amounts for providing a service, while getting rich in an undignified manner. For such a beautiful and progressive society, my experience with my former landlord left me with a terrible memory of Copenhagen which still gives me the shudders whenever I recall the two years of my life spent working in Copenhagen.

Thankfully, there is RentHero. I received a reply from Alex almost immediately after contacting them for the first time. Working with Alex was a hassle free, magical experience. He took over communication with my former landlord and managed to 'convince' him to return my full deposit and more. The entire process was over very quickly (about one week!). All I had to do is to respond to the few emails from Alex.

However, I am disturbed by the fact that there are enough scheming landlords in Copenhagen to justify the existence of RentHero, and business must be good.

As soon as Rent Hero got involved in our move-out deposit negotiations, everything started going smoothly. When we moved out, our landlord cut off all contact with us apart from one message informing us we would not be receiving anything from our deposit back, as this would be used to renovate the apartment.

It doesnt seem like I can reply to below message. I am afraid that I am not a landlord who have lost a any money by your work. What has happened is that the tenants in the flat I had got advice from you, advice which is not advice in line with either what LLO says or the Danish Law. The tenants wer advised to oppose access to the flat and refurbishment work. This is illegal in Denmark and will result in eviction from the flat, bad credit ratings and debt collection with Fogedretten for the tenants. The tenants you represented have moved out and in the process had to suffer from paying new upfronts deposits and prepaid rents whilst the old is withheld until the end of the process. This turns out to be very expensive for them. Now there is a case in Huslejenævnet that will likely take 8-12 months before any money is seen for any party. I would recommend any tenants and landlord to try to figure things out in less aggressive manners. There is also a coverage under the home insurance for landlords where they get a qualified lawyer paid by it. A qualified lawyer is always to recommend since their advice has to be in line with the law.

Alex and Mads helped me getting overpaid rent back. I was happy I didn't have to deal with the landlord and they achieved a good result in the end. Totally recommended for expats who don't really know the Danish law and language.

Helped me get my deposit back from my landlords after months of fighting with them.

We had a really nice experience with RentHero guys Alex and Mads who helped us to fight with injustice and get back the remaining of our deposit. The amount our former landlord owed us wasn't so large so I didn't even expect them to take the case but they did it straight away! Our former landlord didn't want to give up so RentHero guys gathered all the proof, took the case to house of tenants and after few months landlord was forced to return us the whole amount plus interest!
