recruiters play the role as being the owners
I recently had an encounter with a Silversea cruise recruiter, but unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. The recruiter appeared solely focused on specific dates and months from my resume, showing little interest in thoroughly reviewing my work history. My resume primarily details recent experiences, with older entries from 2009 listed as certificates achieved but not utilized. My priority lies in contributing to the company's success, and I failed to mention my previous work aboard the Silver Cloud in 199... (the exact year escapes me now), which I recognize is outdated information.Despite claiming a 30-year tenure with Princess Cruises, the recruiter exhibited a lack of empathy and seemed to distrust my background, assuming dishonesty. I applied for the Outlet Maître D' position, which now appears questionable in existence, leaving me disheartened. Nevertheless, I remain committed to contributing positively, prioritizing guest satisfaction and company success. I plan to file a formal complaint with the company regarding this encounter. Such behavior from a recruiter, who should represent the company's best interests, requires attention from higher management. Initial discussions should not solely focus on dates when a comprehensive CV is available. After promptly addressing the requested details and resubmitting my CV, I received a sudden rejection email just minutes later. This experience raises concerns about the professionalism of Silversea's recruiting process. A recruiter's role should be to facilitate a mutually beneficial relationship between employer and employee, emphasizing experience over dates. I am left questioning the standards upheld by your recruitment team. How many potential candidates like myself have been dismissed due to misplaced priorities? In an industry where warmth and hospitality are paramount, it's disheartening to encounter recruiters lacking basic empathy and professionalism. I have no expectations for a response but felt compelled to share my experience and concerns. If this interaction reflects Silversea's standards, I fear it may not align with my professional values. Reflecting on recent reviews, I am grateful not to be associated with a company fostering such an environment
Worst service EVER!!!
I booked a Lisbon to Barcelona cruise directly from the company in early 2023, for travel in April 2024. A few months from the date of travel, they emailed to say that the cruise has been cancelled. This is with air tickets and pre and post cruise hotels already booked on my part. With no explanations whatsoever. When I called my agent to find out what is going on, they told me that the cruise has been chartered. Whatever that means.
So I was rebooked to now travel on the same itinerary in November 2024. However, the agents (based in Sydney, I am based in Singapore) have been extremely non communicative. I wrote many complain emails to no avail. I then found out there is a local agency, to whom I could transfer my booking, and could effect my changes, so I reached out. And they wanted to charge me $600 for the transfer because the commission was already taken by the australian office.
After 6 solid months of trying to get in touch with them, I still have no been able to.
Utter shamble!!!! Very disappointed with Silversea.
We have been on many Silversea cruises over the years and have accumulated over 140 days at sea. We booked a cruise on Silver Moon early last year to go from Tokyo to Mumbai, and we were due to sail on the 19th of April 2024. We received several emails from Silversea to get ready for our cruise, to obtain our Visas for Sri Lanka and India and to book our car to the airport. We even paid and booked for our seats on the plane.
Last week, three weeks before departure, we received a phone call from our travel agent informing us that the second half of our cruise has been cancelled and all passengers are being kicked off the ship in Singapore as the ship isn't going to Mumbai anymore.
We were then told that Silversea would organise 3 nights stay in Singapore, and will fly us back. Today we were told that we will have to organise our own hotel and transport between cruise terminal, hotel and airport. What an utter shamble!!!!!
We are in our 70's and pay people to organise our holiday for us. Regretfully, we have cancelled our cruise and will wait for our refund.
Needless to say that we will never cruise with Silversea again.
Silversea or Titanic ?
This posting is a great shame for me, because I have only been on one Silversea cruise and loved it however ...
I have recently been told that my (next) cruise itinerary has been changed. This, together with other factors, has caused me to cancel. As per the terms and conditions, I have been told that I am entitled to a full refund, minus £200 per person that will be held for a future cruise credit.
The service I have received has been appalling.
I sent several emails and made several phone calls over the period of a week. When I went through another route, I eventually got contacted by my Cruise Consultant.
A week later, STILL no sign of my money.
Yet again, starting at 9am, I made several calls (left a voicemail) and an email but no reply.
I called the general number and was given some guff about Monday morning meetings - even to the point where there is not a manager available (Customer care? what Customer care?)
At 11:30, my Cruise Consultant finally called me and told me that she had spoken to their finance team, who told her the refund can take 14 days!!!!
When I questioned this, I was told this could be down to my bank, which in this case is a credit card who have just processed another refund IN 2 DAYS!!!
I am now going to write to the CEO although, aside from me letting off a bit of steam, I am guessing will do nothing. I am however hoping, as a gesture of goodwill (a phrase I generally hate), they will refund the £200 per person too, because as things stand, I have no desire to ever travel with Silversea ever again.
So disappointed ☹️ We recently had a trip on the Silver…
We recently had a trip on the Silver seas - SilverMoon from Mumbai to Singapore. Unfortunately we were delayed a few days in Mumbai due to the current situation which is fair enough and I totally understand that and it’s beyond their control but was extremely disappointed with the package supplied by Silverseas at the hotel that we was put in in Mumbai, which was a five star hotel however we were only allowed to have food from buffet style for breakfast lunch and dinner, which was it put in the basement of the hotel in a room that was just for cruise passengers and you were allowed only drinks with your meal .
Through the day, any soft drinks, coffees or light refreshments had to be paid for by yourself. this isn’t to the standard that we would received on the ship and also paid in advance for our crows price. The quality of the buffet was extremely poor and he got food poisoning on the last night so it made me very poorly for the first two days of my cruise.
Many passengers were very disappointed with this service and share the concerns with silver seas and since we have returned home, we have received a substandard letter to say that due to the circumstances that’s all they could provide and that is not to the silver seas name and experience I expected from marketing materials and expectation.
Unfortunately, this has really made me question whether I would travel with silver seas again as follow-up response was extremely poor.
So many passangers dissapointed.
Its about the service they supplied while at the hotel in Mumbai.
Very bad customer service! Do not book !
Very bad customer service!! Not worth a premium cruise company.
Our cruise was canceled 14 days before we had to depart !! Our flights and everything we arranged pre and post cruise had become worthless!!!several 1000€ just down the drain !!! And when we wanted to rebook there was no help at all !!!

A lot of negativity here but my experience of a life threatening accident in the middle of the South Atlantic is the complete opposite. From contacting Silversea customers service to care and attention on board was nothing short of exemplary.
We have booked again now that I have been given the all clear as we have every confidence in Silversea.
Absolutely shocking
Absolutely shocking! They market them selves as 6 stars! You get 1 star service! Continually having to chase things, email after email, call after call with them being dropped, transferred to departments that are closed! Having attitude given over the phone causing you to loose temper and then being told they don’t like your attitude! Well maybe if you did your job correctly and offered 6 star customer service you’d have no issues! Would not recommend to anyone! Issue after issue!
Never again will I book a Silversea…
Never again will I book a Silversea cruise after my experience of trying to book with them for a cruise from Auckland to Melbourne. They were so unhelpful, never returned calls or emails, and in the end in order not to lose the cruise I have paid much more than I should have for an inferior cruise. On the business flights we are sitting apart from my husband as they booked cheaper business seats so we are not allowed to sit together. Never heard of such a thing before with any cruise line and we have been on many. On top of which we had to pay more for these flights and the hotel they have booked for us is costing more than what I can get it ourselves direct with the hotel. What a company! Dont book with them if you want a hassle free holiday, because it is certainly not hassle free!
UK Customer Service
Just read some of the below reviews and have to agree with regards customer service in the UK. I'm having to beg for my final invoice after mistakes were made. I had to demand to talk to a manager about the mistakes before the amendments were made. It's all a joke really but I've booked flights to south america and don't want to lose the money, just hope the cruise is good 🙈🤞
A fab cruise on Silver Dawn spoilt by…
A fab cruise on Silver Dawn spoilt by appalling customer support and service. We took the door to door option. Plane out cancelled and rescheduled by SAS unacceptably. Silverseas customer service in the UK shut …. My rep on holiday… eventually a contact… indicated which air flights would be preferable , by the time a response was received, rang at 8, response at 11, too late to get preferred flights. Also the. Haddwue aeevice could not be sorted without Silverseas contacting the supplier, nightmare. Took reschedule proposed, luggage lost in Munich. Day lost in Copenhagen. No welcome at the airport and no luggage. Back to the airport the next day, waste of a hotel room in Copenhagen got there at 2 in the morning. No one to talk to at Silversea UK, offices closed.
Retrieved baggage funded our own travel from the airport and return and back again.
Cruise. Ok. Variable service in restaurants, inclusive trips need some work but food and drink excellent . Entertainment poor.
Journey back. Have to leave room at 8, off boat at 9,30. Flight at 2, dropped at airport for over 4 hrs. Flight delayed again… got to Amsterdam flight cancelled. Silverseas offices closed. Sorted replacement flight myself. Could not rearrange chauffeur car in the UK, but managed to cancel the journey. Got our own taxi home.
Emailed my rep, back from holiday. Emailed guest services. Just looking for receipts for travel to be reimbursed. Nothing… no Co formation of receipt of email, a timescale for response, nothing.
Awful customer service.
A door to door service needs 24/7 cover.
My husband and I were on the Silver Moon
My husband and I were on the Silver Moon 2 weeks ago. The restraint service was poor, either due to the training or supervision. The staff didn’t seem to work cohesively. Our butler didn’t ask us if we would like champagne in our cabin or if we would like to have 2 bottles of spirits or wine of our choice in our cabin. This was something a fellow passenger told us towards the end of the cruise. After contacting Silverseas they offered me a £750 voucher off my next cruise. Well, you only get one chance to make a good impression. Silverseas have failed miserably and I won’t be giving them another opportunity. It is back to Seabourn for me.
Cruise excellent! Head Office are a disgrace to Silversea.
Lucky the cruises are SO good or I would never use them again. Regent are trying to persuade me away and I am listening.
The cruise, ship and crew were excellent, as normal. (If you want flashy surroundings don’t go with them. If you like understated European style luxury, then you’ll love it).
It is the Head Office where the problems are. I was told things that were easily shown to be incorrect (a more aggressive reviewer might even claim they were lied to). There were a catalogue of issues:
…misleading “assurances”
… frequent failures to reply to me, including by senior management
… promising certain flights (selected for good reason) then “out of the blue” providing different but refusing to make even the slightest change.
…delivering info or essential documents well after promised time and close to departure
…the person assigned by the CEO to resolve the flights issue only replied after the flights and even then basically told me how hard things were for them at the moment.
Basically, as soon as you get on the ship all will be well. But beware the service on land, it will be appalling.
Customer service is terrible
Customer service is terrible. I will never take a trip with Silversea again as they engage in deceptive practices to gain business. They only care about profits and not the customers.
Bad experience
Well where do I start.!
You book a hotel for your 1st night
Silverseas choice not ours when we got off the flight too They put us in a different hotel without any explanation which didn't meet our needs ie: not walk in shower.
While on the ship wanted to purchase from the boutique shops a present for my partner but was refused entry by a Male member off staff who was in my face and VERY RUDE..
He told me that I couldn't enter as the shop was only open too the CREW staff which I found very odd as there wasn't any other opportunity to purchase a gift for my partner he just smirked through the glass and tried to intimidate me
So I reported him to guest relations. He needs to be dealt with as he acted way above his station.
Left a bad feeling so no present was purchased and after telling Guest relations that we have been on 97 cruises with many other cruise lines we won't be coming back.
Poor Customer Service
Tried to book a cruise with Silverseas. Ready to pay deposit on receipt of booking details. Alas, they couldn't be bothered to supply the booking details, return calls or collect the deposit. Guess that they are not need on selling their cruises if they treat willing potential customers like this.
Booked a cruise with their competitors instead. I will not bother with Silverseas again.
Please don't ever book with this cruise…
Please don't ever book with this cruise line. Customer service is non existent to woeful, despite how expensive they are. Do not recommend at all and if I could give minus stars I would.
Extremely poor service from guest…
Extremely poor service from guest relations. Sent e mail 3 weeks ago as we were left on the dock in Venice waiting for a water taxi ( organised by silversea) for over 2 and a half hours in the midday sun of 32degrees with a 90 year old in our party. Not one of the silverseas representatives cared eventually after a lot of passengers complained they fetched a high revolving chair from a nearby office for her to sit on. Not even the courtesy of a reply to my e mail. Beware of you are disembarking in Venice
Six star prices and one star customer service
This company's pre-cruise admin appears to be in meltdown. Phones are left on messaging all the time, nobody calls you back and the place seems to be staffed by rude and ignorant college work experience types who know nothing about the cruise industry and could not care less about its clientele and their particular needs. Go elsewhere.
We travelled on Silver Wind from Athens…
We travelled on Silver Wind from Athens to Lisbon 28th May to 11th June. Our two previous Silversea bookings for 2020 and 2021 were cancelled, so this was the default option, which cost a lot more and with no Gran Prix or Orient Express....
We realised pretty quickly that this was a shakedown cruise for the Wind as part of the Expedition arm of the company.
The reason for a 3 star rating is largely due to the awful time we had travelling to and from the ports of arrival and departure.
Our flights were indirect. High anxiety began when after queuing at Birmingham from 2.30 am for our Air France 6.10 flight, we were told at check-in at 3.45 am that the flight was overbooked and we would have to wait. An hour later we were given seats. We rushed to security and just made it to the gate. We repeated the whole process at Paris CDG.
On the return journey from Lisbon the time between landing and take off for Birmingham was reduced to 20 minutes due to our late arrival. CDG is enormous, and the distance between 2F and 2E was at least a mile. We made the flight, our luggage didn't. However our cases were delivered to our home today.
I do not expect Silversea to book indirect flights unless entirely necessary, but when I tried several times to alter our flights I was told this was impossible.
On the ship:
The Medical centre were amazing, helping my husband to tackle a nasty bout of bronchitis.
The Crew were beyond wonderful, real old Silversea.
The entertainment staff (Ged and Igor) were friendly, paricularly Ged who seems to wear at least 6 different hats but always with a smile and a joke.
La Dame restaurant with a cover charge of $60 per person was no better than the other restaurants, which were excellent.
The difficulty ratings for the excursions were misleading. "Moderate" entailed climbing for 20 minutes in high temperatures. The different nature of an expedition cruise should be made quite clear in the brochure.
The Boutique was stocked only for cold temperatures. We were in 38C quite regularly.
RCL have bought a diamond reputation and a very faithful group of customers. They may be losing both unless they refer back to what made Silversea such a byword for excellence.
