My security and privacy was breeched while on a recent cruise on the Silver Ray, Silver Seas cruise line. I was in my cabin when a man entered from the balcony without notice or warning. He came face... Mehr ansehen

Cruise Was All That We Hoped For.
We paid out a great deal of money for this experience and were more than ready to call out anything that did not meet our high expectations. First impressions were not positive as embarkation was a slow and tense experience, undergoing and awaiting results of a quayside COVID test; we were ok but the people next to us were not allowed to board.
However, from the welcome drink offered as we boarded to our departure eleven days later, everything else was as near perfect as it would be possible to imagine. The suite was vast, beautifully appointed and superbly serviced. We had a change of butler half way because of illness but both Viktoria and Jon-Jon were competent, friendly and went the extra mile; we tried without success to use the same towel twice! Breakfast in the room was vital as our tours all required early starts (at least one afternoon start would have been nice!), and both butlers were prompt, often using their initiative when we forgot to order something obvious.
The food was generally superb. We tried all the included dining options and found La Terrazza particularly appealing, although meals and service were of the highest quality at all venues. As with our cabin staff the restaurant waiters trod that narrow line between friendliness and what could be seen as over-familiarity with perfect judgement. We felt both spoilt and among friends.
In the bars we had expected slow service given that drinks were already paid for, but this fear was groundless. You could hardly turn away without finding your glass recharged and the regular 'bonus' canapes were delicious and added to the feeling of being spoilt. The entertainment here was of the highest level with the male and female solo piano/guitar performers proving consummate artists; both felt like friends by the end of the cruise and Luis in particular happily swatted up requests not in his regular repertoire overnight to play on the following day.
The shore excursions (all included) were very well organised; many of the guides were brilliant and all at least adequate. Tours in Palermo, Taormina, Valletta and Santorini in particular were brought alive for us by the tour guides' expertise.
The entertainment manager kept us amused and involved with his upbeat and self-deprecating delivery of the daily quizzes. We enjoyed these very much and made a number of friends as a result. The later evening entertainment was a little mixed. We felt that the six singers in the troupe only gelled occasionally, with their clear individual talents needing more pulling together by the director. We did however enjoy all the offerings, if some more than others.
We have cruised with about six other cruise lines before but none provided the level of comfort and peaceful luxury we felt on Silver Spirit. If you want shopping malls, lots of noise, queues for loungers and mad parties, this experience might not appeal to you; we don't and it did!
The tragedy that is Silverseas
Unfortunately since the staff changes back in July last year the Company, Customer Services, have totally lost and continue to ignore what customers should receive as a service. Firstly there was a total loss of computer and communications for several weeks. It is still not running properly today. Staff attitude is almost at deliberate sabotage level. One has to wonder who is supposedly responsible for what is obviously going on in the Company.
It is an absolute tragedy that a Company that was so highly regarded is now operating at such a disgraceful level. Those or us that have booked and paid for expensive upcoming cruises can only hope the on board experience is as expected. That assumes we will ever get to a boarding stage.
One says never again but is there nothing Royal Caribbean can do to sort the mess.

Silverseas cruise customer service non existent.
This was our first and will be our last cruise with Silverseas. 20/12/21 on the Silver Spirit.
We traveled from Manchester via Heathrow to Miami with BA, and unfortunately one of our cases did not arrive. Having contact BA representative at the airport prior to leaving baggage claim we had to fill in forms regarding we’re we were going to stay. Having told BA we were on a cruise we had to input all the Silverseas details etc. when we finished and returned to the BA desk, we were informed that the missing luggage would be on the flight the following day. I asked if I could pick the luggage up myself the following day and was given a procedure to follow to carry out this request.
By the time we left the luggage area and into the airport terminal, no Silverseas representative was there to meet us, no transportation we evident, and a follow passenger informed us that we had to get the Merriot shuttle bus, unfortunately this shuttle bus was for Miami and not Fort Lauderdale. We than had to find out we’re we could get our own transportation which we eventually found the cabs/taxis we then arrived at the Merriot Hotel Fort Lauderdale 24.00, at a cost of $100
Over night I had an email from BA to state that our missing luggage would be on a 14.35 flight from Heathrow.
I asked the Hotel manager if he could assist with this situation and if the flight landed could he arrange a cab/taxi for myself to go back to Miami Airport to pick up our missing luggage. He stated that he would arrange the hotel transport at a special rate but then stated that there is a Silverseas representative in the hotel today and we would better speaking to them.
Yes the Silverseas desk had 3 representatives, none at the airport but 3 at the hotel. I informed them of the situation and they took details and all 3 give assistance that our missing luggage would be in our cabin that same day. These so call representatives were lairing through there teeth. They did not contact there agents, they did not make any arrangements what so ever.
My agent in the UK was phoning/email people and when the luggage did not turn up as the agents agreed. My agent stated that Silverseas did not make any arrangements what so ever.
So no luggage day at sea my wife has who is a proud Lady did not stop filling up and crying. I tried to convince her that we had to make the best of it and hope that our agent in the UK could resolve the situation. That day I had 4 emails from them to state that they have contacted BA and they are shipping the lost luggage to San Juan. They then contacted the Agent in SanJuan and gave me the address but I would personally have to contact Silverseas on board.
Please note we went to purchase cloths at the on board shop and they only had a few items which my wife pick a few things up. Silverseas do not have a procedure to cover passengers with missing luggage so we walk round the ship dressed like 2 vagrants in cloths which we travel in.
When asked the shop assistant for a shirt or trousers they did not sell them. He must have contacted someone who came to my cabin and loan me a black suit and 3 clean white shirts so at least a felt clean.
Cabin
In the cabin the remote control for the TV did not work, the cabin steward provided a new one. The hairdryer did not work, the cabin steward replaced with another. The light in the shower room did not work, and it took 2 days to repair. Please note all these items should have been replaced/repaired prior to our discovering them.
Staff
All the staff what ever discipline where very good and attentive, could not fault them.
Food
Considering you advise that Silverseas is a six star ship, the food was no better than any other cruise ship. Many instances the food was not hot therefore a complaint had to be made.
COVID
Halfway through the cruise we all had to undertake a COVID Test, from this test 2.7% of passengers and crew tested positive. This being the case we could not Dock anywhere in the Caribbean therefore we had to go back to Fort Lauderdale, having 4 days at sea. Prior to anyone complaining Silverseas stated that they are going to issue each passenger 30% Future Cruise Credit. We would rather have a cash refund.
Unfortunately this was our first cruise with Silverseas and we wanted to experience the six star treatment, but this was not the case.
We are sorry to say this will be our first and last Silverseas cruise.

Service has fallen off the page
In July 2020 Silversea were taken over by Royal Caribbean Group. We had sailed with Silverseas before this date and are members of their Venetian Club.
Regrettably we have had 2 cruises cancelled so far under Covid and we have two more cruises booked. However getting information out of Silversea is proving very difficult. Getting responses to reasonable questions and clarifying flights is proving an uphill struggle. Promises to get back to you in a day are turning into two weeks. It saddens me to write this review but something is very wrong at Silversea. There is an opaqueness and evasiveness about the future activities that does not bode well. In the past we have paid the full amount up front direct to Silversea but would fear to do more than a deposit now.
Very professional and friendly service
Very professional and friendly service. Hopefully this one wont get cancelled.
We sailed early March on Silver…
We sailed early March on Silver Explorer from Ushaia through the Chilean Fjords towards Valparaiso. We had a fabulous 11 days seeing everything we had hoped, fantastic crew and expedition team, good food and comfortable accommodation. The it all went wrong, someone from the ship was unwell and removed to shore and onwards to hospital and diagnosed with Covid19. We were immediately confined to our cabins but the crew continued to provide menus before each meal, deliver food to the door and bring champagne, wines etc. on request. We sailed in and out of our mooring as necessary to make fresh water for a couple of days. The captain kept us updated as to the fact that Silversea were doing all they could to get us off the ship and home. On the evening of day three of lock down we disembarked by zodiac in the dark to a ferry and then onwards to the shore and a local airfield. Silversea arrange three charter flights, one for Europe, one for US and one for Oz. We returned home in style on a chartered 777 with only 40 pax on board and on arrival at Heathrow were met with a chauffeur driven car to bring us back to Cornwall. So, we had a fabulous holiday of which we lost only three days, we were superbly well cared for and were able to get home on our original return date. Thank you Silversea, you couldnt have done better for us.
We are currently sailing on silver…
We are currently sailing on silver spirit and have encountered so many issues with ports refusing us entry due to Covid19. Our ship is a healthy ship no cases. Silversea captain and all staff have been amazing and supported us through this uncertain and stressful time. The captain updates us daily. Such a professional company couldn’t rate them high enough.
BEYOND PERFECT!!!THE BEST HOLIDAYS I'VE EVER HAD!!!
I've just came back from a Silversea holiday in the Silver Muse from Vancouver to Seward (Alaska) and I had the best holidays of my life. There are not enough words to express the high level of service from the staff and how dedicated they are to make their customers' holidays their best. The facilities in the ship are truly luxury, their drinks, food quality & presentation are mind blowing and their butler service adds the final touch of luxury to the holidays. I can't recommend highly enough Silversea's cruises to everyone and definitely I will be booking again with them :-)
Not the cheapest ..... but good value
7 day cruise from Barcelona to Rome on Silver Spirit in April. Our third with Silversea.
A very comfortable ship built in 2009 and renovated recently with capacity for 600 passengers. Everything absolutely immaculate with attractive public rooms, and large cabins and balconies even at the lower end of cabin prices. Wonderful food and delightful wines that were varied and related to which country we were visiting We cannot report on the speciality restaurants as we eat only in the "standard" restaurants because we enjoyed their food so much,
Staff were without exception pleasant, helpful and intent on their passengers enjoying their cruise. The ratio of staff to passengers is very high. Entertainment throughout was good..
Cruising with Silversea is not cheap, but gratuities, Wi-Fi, all drinks, local tranfers/transportation and pretty well everything else is included, Our extras bill at the end was near zero, thanks to our excellent booking agents, Six Star Cruises, who arranged a cabin credit which paid for the one Silversea excursion we took. We have booked another trip on the Spirit next January, and can recommend Silversea (and Hannah Grey at Six Star Cruises) to those who are prepared to pay a little more to travel on a small ship offering great service, while avoiding the crowds on the new 5,000-capacity floating gin-palaces.
Deal direct with Silverseas sales department
Lisa Bell is an excellent sales representative, she will get you all the perks you deserve and then some.My wife and I have over a 100 days on Silverseas and have 4 upcoming cruises on Silverseas.
Not a Luxury Experience
We sailed on Silver Whisper in May/June. They advertise as ultra luxury cruises. The ship is tired and worn and almost shabby. The food was okay, nothing spectacular. Their specialty restaurants are nothing to rave about. The cabin was spacious. The walk-in closet was great, the bathroom was large. But overall, we didn't think they delivered what they promised with a "luxury" cruise. It wasn't very luxurious. It was very high priced for being shabby.
Just a great cruise on Silver Shadow.
Just a great cruise on Silver Shadow.
Booked up again for next year on board.
Great company and highly recommended.
Silverseas Shadow an extremely disappointing ship
We embarked in Auckland on 19 Dec 2017 and to say we were disappointed with the Silverseas Shadow ship would be a gross understatement. We have previously sailed on Seabourn Sojourn and Encore ships and the Regent Seven Seas Explorer. These ships were truly luxury ships and we would strongly recommend these ships. By comparison to those 6 star ships the Silverseas Shadow is a 3 star ship.
The ship is old and tired and in certain areas such as the Observation Lounge smells damp and stale. Silverseas claims the ship was refurbished in 2017 which isn’t apparent in any of the public areas or the two cabins we are occupying with our kids.
We would strongly recommend you don’t book on Silverseas if the Silverseas Shadow is typical of what Silverseas class as luxury. So disappointing given how much we paid for what was meant to be a special memorable family holiday.
I’d welcome a response from the CEO or the Chairman, Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio and would like to know when he was last on this ship.
