My fixed energy was coming to an end. New deal was expensive. Used Switch Together to move to a cheaper provider, everything was done for me, only had to give a reading. So far so good

I believe i made the right choice after checking all other options
Only time will tell if this is correct choice

Switch was quick and easy.

We recently switched to British Gas from Octopus Energy following a recommendation from Martin Lewis at MoneySavingExpert, who said that British Gas were offering a fixed tariff that was lower than the new price cap that came into effect a few weeks ago.

There was a deadline to switch, so we did, and were very happy having got a great deal.

What we didn’t expect was that, just a couple of weeks later, Switch Together’s latest auction would find an even cheaper price.

Fortunately for us, this was also with British Gas, so we were able to switch over to the new tariff without paying our exit fees, even though we’d only been British Gas customers for about three weeks.

Getting something cheaper than a deal recommended by Martin Lewis takes some doing. (Full disclosure: Martin’s recommended British Gas tariff was 14 months and this British Gas tariff was only 12, but we were already one month into the 14-month deal when we switched to the new deal, so there may well be one month at the end where we’re worse off, but hopefully the savings over the rest of the tariff will more than cover it).

We’ve rarely gotten a better deal than by using Switch Together.

The experience was excellent from start to finish. I felt that as a participant I was kept fully informed and the process was clear and simple. The outcome was presented to me and I was given time to make my decision. And the result was that I secured a very competitive price for gas and electricity.

I had a fixed price energy quote that was only slightly more than last year's price.
