Kindness and care

I can’t remember when we engaged this company in my mother’s care.
Possibly 7-8 years ago
Setting it all up was a straightforward affair. They came and set up their equipment and mum initially chose a pendent alarm to wear. Later she switched to a wrist alarm.
None of that really sticks in my mind. I don’t remember any particular problems along the way.
What I really remember, is the people involved with handling the calls.
My mother would regularly fall and be unable to get herself up.
The staff were always so kind and caring, quick to notify a family member and a quiet calm voice for my mother to hear, so she always knew help wasn’t far away.
She is still with us , but is no longer independent. There is not the need for an alarm service anymore.
However, I would like to strongly recommend these wonderful people who work for Taking Care.
They adapt to the changes in my mother’s cognitive decline and have never once failed us.
Well done to the team and many thanks over the years

I was expecting the set up not to be as easy as stated on instructions. But it really is. So fast, so easy. Can’t fault it. The main hub looks quite smart too. Big easy buttons.

Very easy to order and set up for my…

Very easy to order and set up for my mum. Worked all over her property and even good a good signal in a village that usually struggles. She is not understanding the technology which makes this easy for her.

Taking Care really does take care of you

My 90 year old husband has balance problems and is prone to falls. The publicity for the Taking Care Anywhere personal alarm service seemed an ideal way of helping to protect his health. We felt very supported by Taking Care at every stage of the set up process and despite later problems with the specific alarm kits they supplied to us, we would still recommend the company wholeheartedly to other people who need this kind of care. It seems that all these domestic alarm kits have their particular strengths and limitations. We found for example that the pendant system with the home base unit worked excellently, if you pressed the call button, but wasn't good enough at detecting the kinds of falls my husband actually has. ( Usually falling backwards, often breaking the fall by reaching for a nearby piece of furniture.) We came to feel that if he had a fall where he was unconscious, or unable for any other reason to press the pendant alarm, it was possible that the pendant wouldn't register the fall so no help would come. While we were still wondering what to do about this, our pendant and the home set both lost their volume . Taking Care couldn't have been more efficient sending us a replacement kit and helping us set it up. We think other elderly customers might like to know that the set up processes for these home alarm systems are quite complicated. The Taking Care engineers are excellent, but it would still be worth having an IT competent person also in the room. After a lot of helpful discussion with Taking Care Customer Services, we decided to switch to the wrist alarm system which we are trying now. This is simpler, but to get it working properly indoors, we still needed the engineer to team it up with our home broadband which he did. We couldn't possibly have set up this new alarm watch on our own. These experiences taught us that the alarm systems may be a bit too sophisticated for some people to manage without help on hand from a company like Taking Care. We think that our monthly subscription for 24/7 contact is well spent.
