Updated Review:
New York City has just passed a "Click to Cancel" law that would have saved me all of this trouble. This is the same law that was passed Federally but cancelled for some reason.
These are facts: As stated on this review initially, I wrote a review on another account because I forgot that I have a verified account. It was removed initially for "libel" but, after I wrote this review, it was reinstated. They attempted to remove it again because I reminded people that this company was the same company as Shaw Academy. They claimed that I was writing about a different company. Ultimately it was legitimately removed because I had written this review.
In the meantime, I was offered a refund if I deleted this review. I choose not to. They emailed me multiple times. They called me. The caller id said "Shaw Academy".
What did I try before going to my provider? I contacted Upskillist as soon as I saw the charge and was denied a refund. I tried a chargeback on my paypal debit card and was denied in spite of providing evidence that this was a verified tactic of this company. I tried Better Business Bureau and was denied in spite of MULTIPLE identical complaints that are on the BBB. It was my provider that listened to me and refunded me.
A click to cancel rule would protect people from these practices.

I wrote a review on another account because I forgot that I have a verified account. My review was removed for being defamatory.
Company uses deceptive practices to make it difficult to cancel your "free trial" - I went through page after page of attempts to upsell me, reached the end and was certain that I had cancelled well before the trial expired.
After being billed for a month ($70), I went through the exact same process. In neither case did I get a confirmation email although they have assured me that the account is now cancelled. Multiple attempts to get my money back were denied although I was offered 'perks' in exchange. If I wanted this service, I would not have cancelled.
There is nothing defamatory about facts that can be confirmed by multiple users on certain consumer protection web sites that do not delete complaints.
In my case, the provider who offered me the free trial made it right.

They are also in violation of California’s Automatic Renewal Law Automatic Purchase Renewals [17600 - 17606] ( Article 9 added by Stats. 2009, Ch. 350, Sec. 1. ) (Schiavo, 2024) under Article 9 17602.
