Bill Cummings at Advantage Lumber worked with me to select an awesome piece of tigerwood for a project for my granddaughter. Bill coordinated with Chico at the Buffalo Mill and hand picked a beautiful select piece of tigerwood for my needs. Bill and Chico even sent a photo of the piece and I can't wait to start working on it. I could not ask for better customer service and communication, not to mention super fast shipping and bulletproof packaging.

Our order was damaged when we received it. We managed to work with what we had but nothing was refunded or replaced..not even an offer to.
We then ordered specific pieces which took weeks to get and held up construction, only to find out that they sent the wrong ones, then they lost pieces...it was a total debacle. This went on for months until we finally gave up and decided to figure it out ourselves. Nothing again was refunded or even offered. Although I thought we spent a lot, I guess unless you are a commercial business with huge orders, you do not matter to them and I would look elsewhere.

I just wanted to give a big thank you to the Advantage Lumber Sales team and a huge thanks to Edgar for helping us through this process. We've been a customer for years now and whats really helped that I've noticed is there customer service. Being able to work one on one with your vendor that places customer service at the front just makes everything at Advantage Lumber a smooth process and a store that stays true there word.

As mentioned down below, we had issues with the material and Advantage Lumber sent out an employee, Edgar, to look at the deck and survey. I would like to share my thanks to Advantage for sending an expert and Edgar for assessing the area and answering all the questions we had. I appreciate you getting the process going and approved to be able to start the rebuild. Thank you for staying true to your word, we were able to get all needed material so the warp/break does not occur again. We opted in getting the 5/4x6 Cumaru to avoid an future issue that would cause warping or breaking of any sort.
On top of the full length of cumaru needed we will be getting the wood plugs and top varnish.

-This past July of 2023 we placed in order for Cumaru Decking of 1,800' LF and were recommended by our sales rep to go for the 1x6 PLUS material. We had doubts on the thickness since we always purchase 5/4x6, we were assured that it wouldn't be an issue. It would later be installed and within a few months of installation the deck lifted and started to warp. We were told if issues arose that it could be sorted out and fixed at a later time. -

Again thank you for making the process of getting an issue resolved from start to finish. Defiantly will be sharing my story to others of why choose Advantage Lumber! Best Customer Service on the west coast.

We visited the mill for a tour of the plant and to look at the different materials for a design project we are working on. We had made an appointment in advance with Bill. He could not have been more congenial or helpful. He was so knowledgeable of the products and helpful with installation ideas. Followed up with us the next day with a quote and additional ideas and support. Great experience. We have our project of "go" thanks for all his advisement.

I found an inventory reduction deal listed and called in to see if I could inspect the "B" grade product I was interested in and received a very positive response.
The sales rep Bill Cummings was very personable when showed me the material I was interested in. After I made the purchase, Bill discovered a discrepancy with the batch of material, but he quickly recovered with the help of his Team. Overall, Bill made the purchase experience very pleasant.
At pickup time, the personnel that helped me load and secure the material on my trailer were very knowledgeable and helpful.
From the reception to the material loading, overall this was a very pleasant experience.

Inflation is bad enough now days but...a $1600 set up fee for a 4ft long Ipe dowel 2" in diameter is just stupid.
What a rip off!
I wouldn't recommend this company if your looking for an honest value.

This entire process has been a disaster. I ordered 200 square feet of 1+ plus Cumaru tongue and groove decking for a covered balcony. They came in 12' and 8' sections. The wood itself is very pretty. That's where it all goes downhill. I live in a rural area. The T-Force driver refused to drive down my driveway to the house. I had to hand unload the boards from the truck into the back of my pick-up, then unload them again at the house. I stored the boards for 3 days across some 2x4's. The 8' boards twisted, cupped, and warped. In contacting Advantage Lumber, they told me I stacked them wrong. Give me a break. Properly dried boards should not warp like this. There is wood on the Titanic that is straighter than this. Next, the tongue and groove milling has no clearance and creates an interference fit. This is fine if you are engaging a 1 foot section of board. Try engaging a 12' long section of a tongue and groove board that looks like a potato chip. It is impossible to get this to work. I had to manually open up the grooves on each board to even have a chance of getting these engaged. What should have taken a few hours to install took me over a week.
Now the floor is very uneven with boards all at different heights. It looks like crap for wood that is 3X the cost of PT. After sealing with IPE oil, the wood itself is pretty. However, don't wear rubber soled shoes on this. I've got black marks all over it. Next, let's talk about splinters. DO NOT, run your hand over a board. These aren't your typical "ouch" splinters. These will make you speak in tongues and question your existence in the universe.

As a professional deck builder, I have used Advantage lumber on many occasions. the quality of material is outstanding and they are quick to respond should any issue arise during shipping. The salesmen at Advantage lumber was very professional and responsive when we had some issues with the shipping company. The shipping company that they used was disorganized and dysfunction, but the salesman at Advantage was quite helpful. When the shipping company 'forgot' to drop off a box of accessories, he went ahead and sent me another free of charge.

There was some confusion as to who was supposed to call who when the order arrived in Denver from Cali in order to schedule delivery. Seems the shipping company expected me to call them and 'make an appointment' to schedule delivery. My expectations were that they would call me when it arrived in Denver and we would make those arrangement then. Not sure what happened there, but I would suggest that this process could have been made clearer in the beginning.
I intend to keep using Advantage lumber when I have clients that request exotic wood for there decks.

I ordered two types of decking from Advantage on July 4. Since then a situation has arisen due to a miscommunication that has been a huge pain. I emailed Advantage on July 6 about adding wood to my order and was told they were out of it. But it wasn't explained that MY WOOD was out of stock. After not receiving the decking material for a few weeks I spoke with two different reps who assured me they were looking into the situation. Ultimately I was told that Advantage was out of the wood available to fulfill my order. But the lack of communication has been very frustrating. And I had to do the leg work myself to find out anything. Given the situation I hoped the company would simply send the wood from another location but because of free shipping on my order they will not.

I'm an artist and I craft my own picture frames.I've been going to Advantage Lumber for many years and they have never failed to impress me with great service and great products at very reasonable prices. I don't need very large pallets of wood but they never have a problem helping me out. They sort out the remnants and sell them at clearance prices. I love this place

I worked with Neil Petrusek and he was awesome. Easy ordering experience and his extensive knowledge of the product (in our case Ipe) and was there after the sale to advise how to take care of our purchase. Product arrived on time, in great shape and well within my budget!

We ordered teak T&G decking from Advantage Lumber for our new-construction front and rear porches. The porches look great, but we ran short on material and had to contact AL for a few additional boards. The sales team was really helpful in putting together a small order to finish the job. A quality product and helpful staff, I'll be back for deck materials.

Worse worse worse company ever. DO NOT purchase any IPE or Teak Wood from these guys. over 42k sent in the ordered waited 2 months, excuses and excuses, and when we inspected the order, it truly look like dog S***** if you know what I mean. What a waste of time. DO NOT waste your time and money. Amex is taking care of this, but unfortunately my time and project is not taking care of thanks to their absolutely unprofessional work. I hope we get compensated for this. Will see.

These guys may be a good company. Because the ship using Tforcetrucking I will not buy from them. They are the absolute worst company in the United States and they are owned by a canadian company. Just look at their reviews.

Placed a simple $405 order, including roughly $170 expedited shipping, for IPE samples to be sent to my construction site. Several weeks later - - nothing. No materials, no response from email customer service. LONG waits on the phone trying to track the order. Customer service telling me they will "speak to a supervisor and call me back"...No return call. I will apparently need to contact my credit card, claim fraud and dispute the charge. Just the worst company - massive waste of time..

12/7/2020 I was contacted twice soon after posting this review, which I really appreciate. The emails were apologetic, blunt and honest. Apparently this company has been especially hard hit by COVID and shortages, both labor and lumber. I've been offered help and will update as this progresses. I'm under the gun on an expensive project and am hopeful.

Delivered as expected, we are so happy with the Tigerwood from AdvantageLumber.
