Professional attitude.
I had an ongoing issue regarding bank statements that I had previously submitted. I spoke to Jack Houghton who sorted out the issue within 15 minutes of my telephone conversation with him. Be very mindful of signing up with these guys. They say, what they take is capped at 25% + VAT… This is a lie, it is a total of 48% and you are liable for the ATE premium fee. Should you get £700 they will take £336. Out of the £364 that’s left, depending on how much the ATE premium is, you will take home much less, If not zero!
Don’t realise this too late like I did, read the reviews/contract and make an informed decision. Unfortunately, they stand to make more, if not all of the money from your claim.

Incase anyone doesn’t want to read a lengthy review of my experience with Barings Law - STAY AWAY - simple.
I am starting to question if this is actually a proper solicitor firm. You may have guessed by I sent over 4 car finance claims to this company and before onboarding was promised £10,000 per claim is what they were averaging for customers. Ofcourse that, now 3 years later, doesn’t seem to be the case at all.
I have bared with this company but this year has been the final straw. I called after having information requests to check I what I needed to send in and if they had received what I had sent and a receptionist who couldn’t pass me through nor answer my questions promised I would get a call back. 24hrs later I called again to get the same response who took my details and promised a call back.
It’s been 3 months since that time and still no call back, I have also requested, on numerous occasions, copies of my agreements to refresh my position as 3 months waiting for a call back and several attempts to get my agreements is simply not acceptable. How can I trust this firm to handle legal matters when they can’t perform simple tasks!!
I proceeded to use the live chat feature in their website 2 weeks ago because I couldn’t find an email address to send my complaint to and was advised to send it to info@baringslaw, which I did.
It took 7 days for them to come back to me, completely breaking their own complaints procedure (respond within 2 days with acknowledgment) while they carry out an investigation (neither did they carry out an investigation).
The email dismissed everything I had included in my complaint and didn’t think to address why I was trying to contact them. No attempt at a resolution as it says on their complaints procedure nothing but disappointment yet again. Oh actually they did include my agreements to which they pointed out if I wanted to cancel I would have to pay them.
They even told me because they had been sending me update emails that is good enough. The update emails are send to everybody not just me and is part of a mailing system!!
Joke of a firm, if you can’t call back your clients, send documents when requested or even follow your own complaints procedure what hope do I have of getting my case won!
I want out of this and find a firm that actually cares about it’s clients and reputation rather than just money

Without any information I am unable to locate your file on our system, I have therefore requested an information request from you via Trustpilot. With regard to motor finance claims, these have taken some time and I understand your frustration in the matter. This is due to a number of court hearings that have taken place and appeals that subsequently followed from the lenders. In August, the final judgment from the Supreme Court was passed down, this means that the FCA have now put forward their proposed redress scheme, with the final version set to be published sometime this month.
While it has caused delays in the progression of claims, I can assure you that our team have been working on cases in the background and preparing for the final outcome before proceeding further. However, the lack of updates and communication from us is something that will be looked into once I have further information from you.

I understand your frustration regarding the length of time it has taken for your claim to progress. Please be assured that our team have been working diligently on your case, however there have been a number of legal matters which has caused a delay in reaching a final conclusion.
This is mostly put down to various court hearings taking place to determine certain meanings around wordings such as if lenders had a fiduciary duty to consumers. Hearings were then subject to appeals until it landed at the Supreme Court, who passed down their judgment in August. However, the legal process continues due to the Financial Conduct Authority now working on a proposed redress scheme.
I hope this helps reassure you that we are continuing to work on your case and doing everything we can to get you the best outcome.

Extremely Poor Service, No Communication, and Lack of Professional Competence
I have been a client of Barings Law for several months and paid £2,600 in full and in advance. Unfortunately, my experience has been extremely disappointing from start to finish.
They submitted my documents to an official authority without any cover letter from the solicitor — only forwarding the bundle that I personally prepared. Such negligence and spelling mistakes in official submissions could cause serious and irreversible harm to a client’s case.
Despite months of requests, they refuse to arrange any face-to-face meeting and never answer phone calls. There is no emergency contact number for urgent situations, even though I have repeatedly asked for one.
Emails are often ignored, and when they do respond, it’s delayed and incomplete.
Their team has shown a lack of knowledge of essential legal procedures, forcing me to personally research regulations and even contact the relevant authorities directly to clarify matters that my own solicitor should have known.
Because of their poor communication and lack of accountability, I have already been forced to pay for independent legal advice twice, despite already having an active solicitor and a fully paid contract.
Even after more than a year, they still misspell my own name in their email correspondence — a clear reflection of the level of care and attention they provide.
The firm demonstrates no follow-up, no responsibility, and no attention to detail. They handle critical legal matters carelessly, as if they were routine paperwork.
I strongly advise anyone — especially those dealing with sensitive or high-risk cases — to think very carefully before instructing Barings Law. Once they have received payment, communication and professionalism disappear completely.
After my numerous complaints to them and their company, exactly one day after I made a comment about this company in Trust Pilot, instead of apologising or scheduling a face-to-face meeting or correcting their behaviour, they announced to me that we were withdrawing our representation from this case.
