Needed support as the Administrator for my late aunt’s estate.
I unexpectedly became the Administrator for my late aunt’s estate in February 2025. I appointed Co-op Legal Services because they provided a clear and precise overview of the services they would provide from the start. The staff I dealt with were friendly but very professional especially Rachel Mansell-Cooke who was my Case Manager. Emails were always answered promptly and any queries I had were dealt with quickly. Our first time dealing with a legal representative. Mark Wadsworth was absolutely brilliant. He was patient with us and he explained everything in a way we could understand and put us at ease. We had tried to apply for probate ourselves but found it a minefield. In passing this Probate request over to Mark lifted a massive weight off our shoulders. I would recommend him for anything to do with Probate.

Advised me to commit a crime
Do not use if in Scotland!!! (Unless you want to go to jail). The friendly but utterly clueless advisor (initials BP) had even less knowledge about the rules in Scotland than I do, and told me I could just help myself to the deceaseds bank account, without needing or applying for “confirmation” (the Scottish equivalent to probate) as his estate was under £50k and he didn’t have a house. The deceased left no will so I am not a named executor. The advisor knew this. This is not only incorrect advice, it’s an offence of theft under Scottish law. Also £50k has no relevance to anything at all, the dividing line between small estates and large estates in Scottish law is £36k total assets, it’s not relevant if those assets are a house or not a house. I stopped the call when it was clear that the advisor didn’t have any clue about Scottish law. I have since called the hospice and a bereavement advisor I know, and it is confirmed that the advice Coop Funeral Care legal advisor gave to me, would have had me commit a criminal theft, which carries a prison sentence in Scotland.
