Looking at some of the reviews posted here I can't believe they are talking about the same company. Either that or they are maliciously posting terrible reviews. I phoned my order through as, due to a fault at my end, I wasn't able to order on line The lady I spoke to was really pleasant and helpful. The order arrived a week later - good going as I'm sure they must be short staffed during the current crisis. I have nothing but praise for Empress Mills. I have always found them to be good and their products good value for money.

Having read some of the reviews, I felt compelled to write this. It seems to me that you have to accept that this is a family business and that your goods will sometimes (not always) take longer to arrive. My latest package took 12 days from the point of ordering to reach The Isle of Skye. This included 2 weekends.You can check on the status of the order by clicking on your details and then the dashboard on the site, The goods are always good quality and competitively priced. My recent order would have cost over twice the amount had I shopped in a regular haberdashery/craft shop. So my message is, if you want something quickly, you may want to look elsewhere, but if it’s not urgent and the item is competitively priced, it’s worth the wait.
Recent complainants should also remember that like everyone else, the company will be affected by Covid restrictions in terms of numbers /social distancing in the workplace and possibly the illness itself. Be patient. Be kind!

Ordered well over a week ago. No response to my multiple emails. No order sent. They have happily taken my money though! Won't ever touch this company again.

contacted them via email as no news on order after 7 days. Saw all the bad reviews so a bit concerned. Immediate reply from them and upgraded to First class delivery. Couple of hours later email to say items have been dispatched. Genuinely think they are struggling with staff shortages due to Covid. Give them a break!

Second time shopping at Empress mills. Both times ended in disaster, they don't keep correct stock of items so fabrics are unavailable even when ordered. They do not dispatch on time, I had to contact them multiple times before they sent my order and to organise a refund for the unavailable products. Avoid, unless you have time to chase them up so they do they their job.

Terrible company. Never contacted me to tell me they did not have fabric in stock. They asked if I would consider alternative so they can get order sent, I told them yes. Christine promised order shipped. Still not received. Will not purchase again. FABRIC ONLINE fantastic company therefore will only use them in future!!!

I cannot fault this company and I have shopped with them for many years. Recently I had a small query with an order I had placed. Today I have spoken on the phone with Christine, the owner. My query was dealt with immediately. Also the way I was dealt with was excellent, friendly and extremely helpful. I will continue to shop here without any worries. Thank you very much Christine, it was an absolute pleasure speaking with you today.

Thank you Empress Mill. Excellent service and quality. My fabrics arrived earlier than expected. Thanks for your phone call to me to offer a substitute when one of my orders could not be fulfilled.

They have called me because they haven't had the half of my order, but even the bits they had came only 3 days later, despite the next day delivery. The lady has lied to me blaming the carrier, but the tracking clearly showed they have sent it the day I had to receive it. No delivery costs have been returned.

Like others here, placed an order and waited ... and waited ... and waited.
They don't answer the phone or reply to emails.

They were never the fastest by any means but just lately they have been appalling. I know they have staff problems, but have they ever heard of temporary staff? My last order took well over 3 weeks. l ordered again because they were suggesting five days to dispatch. That has now passed l have heard nothing. Their phone says mailbox full and l am now unable to login to my account.

This is probably the worst sewing store in the UK. They never have even a half of what they claim to have online and I'm yet to see any refunds from them. Orders from months ago are still in "Processing" state. They never answer any messages whatsoever. The next day delivery is a joke, let me down multiple times. No tracking, a waste of hopes and money.

After a few orders I still have not decided if they're a scam trying to steal peoples money by not refunding them or just utterly incompetent individuals that simply don't care.

My order in July 2020 arrived quickly and the items are great quality. Additionally, when I'd emailed the company for advice on which thread to use for a particular project, they responded promptly and with really helpful advice.

I bought material, quilt wadding and adhesive tracing paper from Empress Mills recently. The order arrived quickly, well packed and in perfect condition. I was a little worried when I read some of the reviews on here that I might have a problem with my order. This was not the case at all. The quality of the goods I received was superb. Thank you Empress Mills I will definitely buy from you again.

Chased an order that hadn’t arrived after a week; got told items were out of stock. Queried why I’d been able to order and pay for out of stock items - received reply suggesting I was calling them “money grabbers”. Appalling service and rude to boot. Avoid.

Ordered goods, advised over the phone that some weren’t available. We agreed on a refund, however 6 weeks later no refund and no reply to e-mails. Don’t order from them is my advice

Couldn't ship what they claimed to have. Said they would refund but haven't. No response to emails.

Placed an order 4 weeks ago. Money taken but no contact and no goods. Not responding to emails. As others have said, exceptional times do not excuse taking money for goods not provided. I would not use in the future. I think others should consider local Trading Standards if this is a pattern of behaviour.

Good experience- honestly!!

I ordered lots of material for my crafting, order was placed on 28/5. There was an information on the web that dispatch time is longer then usual (about 2 weeks at that time). On 6th June I got an email that my order had been shipped and just a few days later I had it at home. It didn’t take more than 2 weeks in total!!! Goods well wrapped.

It was my first and probably not last purchase with them. I can recommend them. I was really happy.

I've always had a great service from Empress Mills, even before online ordering! I expected a delay in my order arriving due to the lockdown and I was kept informed and I found the customer service excellent. I want to keep on supporting independent firms who have served the UK sewing community for so many years through thick and thin. These are unprecedented times for everyone.
