would not recommend, couldn’t give me a exact price, a 20 min job cost me £275
Call out fee £69 labour £130 and £85 for a new lock, Avoid!!!

My front door lock jammed completely, so I ended up calling this company—though I really wish I’d checked the reviews beforehand.

Pete arrived pretty quickly and seemed friendly enough. As far as I can tell he replaced the cylinder and the multipoint backset (admittedly I'm struggling to read the hand-written invoice so there could be more to it, but I'm going off what my door cam captured), which, from a quick search, looks like it should cost around £100 for good quality parts.

The final bill was £490 for a 30 minute job.

I was very surprised by the price. It felt excessive for the work and parts involved. While I understand companies charge for expertise and availability, this still felt disproportionate.

He also mentioned that he does a lot of work with bailiffs—which, given the pricing, struck me as ironic.

Would I use this company again? No.

Edit: I've confirmed through a 3rd party that what he described as a fault with my cylinder was lie and it didn't need replacing at all. Disgraceful business practice.

Horrible service, no notice given on cost whatsoever and once here forced to pay a callout.

I phoned GRDlocksmiths this morning because my front door lock did not work. A very nice locksmith called Pete came and spent 10 minutes replacing the security cyclinder of my lock and gave me 3 keys. The charge was a shocking £247.90: A local call-out charge of £59 that I was not made aware of( I had told them on the phone it was not an emergency since there were other doors to the house that I could use, so I assumed that there would not be a call out charge on top of the work), 120 £ for labour and 68.90 £ for the cylinder and three keys.

We called GRD locksmith to see if they can repair a stuck uPVC door. The guy said that he couldn't give us an estimate over the phone (based on labour costs, etc) without coming around and taking a look. We thought no harm done to take a look at our stuck door and give us a quote. It was not even an emergency as we had access to the property and we weren't in a rush. the locksmith arrived in our property, to take a look and give us an estimate. When they took a look, we asked again and they said, they don't know until they've gotten the tools. Still, at no point we ever authoirised them to fix the problem as we were not given a price estimate. They proceeded and fixed the lock within 30 minutes (no estimate provided) with significant help from my son and at the end the guy took my son to the back in his van even though I spoke to the locksmith and charged him £189 for callout for a non-emergency and labour! I feel cheated, disgusted and ripped off that the company was so dishonest and just came in, wasnt transparent about the cost or works, charged us a fortune and left.

Our overall experience with GRD locksmiths was very satisfactory. Terry the locksmith did a great job unlocking our bedroom patio door which was really stuck solid. Thank you Terry for a really professional service. He also cleaned up afterwards and was very friendly.

I got my front door needs to change locker yesterday. I called this GRD locker smith yesterday morning to make an appointment,I asked the price for this job,he said he didn't know untill seeing what kind locker.About pass 3 pm,the guy drove a white van came over.I asked him price again after he checked the locker,he still said he didn't know till changed. And then,after he had done the job,that was only 5 mins,the locker had been changed.He went to his van and gave me a card machine to let me pay £274.90, and gave me a hand writing invoice.
Disgusting.I post this, because I need to let people know do not contact GRD locker Smith anymore,to stop this kind service company keep cheating us.
I will try more relevant social media websites to let people know,I promise.

I phoned this ‘local Locksmith’ but the call out fee and 1/2 hour labour came to £189:00 , no new parts ,just a few squirts of lubricant and a fiddle with a screwdriver.
Sadly I should have done more research - the payment taken immediately by Zettle went to a company who are based in Surrey - 65 miles away!
I now feel I don’t have any confidence in either the repair or any recourse or guarantee from them.
When I called back I was told the fee was not excessive !.

Rip off merchants £130 job cost £274. They state no call out fee ! Charged £65-59, labour £120 for 1/2 hour on site.£85 for a £40 lock and keys feel stupid for not researching now.how can you charge £240 per hour labour ? Locksmith spent 15 minutes in his van writing out receipt.Gutted . Phoned Jim on their fareham number to complain about call out charge and and extreme labour charge etc.he said he would get back to me after speaking to Craig the visiting locksmith.Guess what . NO CALL BACK !!!!

Locked out of my flat and was given a choice of two replacement locks - c£200 or c£300. Went with the cheaper and was presented with a final bill for £950 including VAT. Absolutely outrageous. At no point was I told how expensive the “add ons” would be. Not clear on pricing at all, particularly given their website quotes “from £35”. Having been so easy and quick to arrange the call out, should have known it was too good to be true!

Very very disappointed customer 10.2.25. The conservatory door lock needed replacing. He said it would be approx £250 - £350 which I thought was rather steep but I said go ahead. He confirmed the key should easily turn with one hand without lifting the handle. The door had dropped over the years so he drilled a larger hole in the base to accommodate the drop. Unfortunately, it hasn't worked smoothly from the start.
I called to confirm that I wasn't satisfied 17.3.25. The guy, Pete I think, called back, I confirmed that there was no rush to come out but I haven't had any response back.
Obviously I'm not happy as I as I went through Checkatrade to get a professional trade company. also the fact that the bill came to £567.50 which was a huge difference. I emailed 27.3.25 my concerns & still no response.

So all in all I think it is a disgrace. I am a pensioner & do NOT like being treated as a fool.

Highly recommend GRD Locksmiths! Excellent local locksmith company that has been used many times for various lock issues. Our business is in the care sector, therefore it is essential to have a reliable and trustworthy company to take care of such issues. Terry is well-known to us for a number of years now. He is friendly highly professional, very experienced in his field, efficient, trustworthy and very reliable. He gives good advice keeps jobs cost effective! Highly recommend Terry!

The locksmith came the very same morning I said I had issue with door locking and gave me an eta which was really helpful (whilst working to a busy schedule at work)

The job which was replacing a barrel took less than 15 minutes and true to the locksmiths word, previous work had been under guarantee which meant visit today was entirely cost effective!

The locksmith was straight, honest, and represented his company had integrity and did what was written on the tin!

I am so glad I stumbled upon this reputable, reliant, professional company and wish I had more doors needing locks!!!

Absolute cowboys… make sure you check all the prices with them. Call our charge and less than 10 minutes work over £125 and charged over £70 for a cylinder that retails at less than £20
They are a franchise… the engineer who did the job a decent guy but a band of cowboys who run the business. Unfortunately I did not check by reviews before I booked them.

All positive reviews look fake. Two separate people have written the exact same review on different days about an antique lock. Total cowboys, stay clear

I dont even want to give a 1 star. Unfortunately this company have played on my misfortune. I was charged a whopping £134 for someone to open my front door within 30 seconds. They took 50 minutes to arrive and when I emailed to query the price. The responce I received was unprofessional and rude. I was told that he didn't care about my opinion or reviews. DONT USE THIS COMPANY! no people or customer service skills whatsoever. And extortionate for what they do. Very very disappointing that there are people out there like this playing on people's vulnerability. I don't know how he sleeps at night when he has so many bad reviews. Choosing not to listen to customers feedback is not good for business.

Courteous initial phone call and booking was easy and prompt. Our appointment was completed by Terry, he went above and beyond to help us and was very kind, we can’t thank him enough. Really isn’t many people around like him left who actually care about helping people and doing a good job, personal thanks to Terry.

This company is a complete scam , DO NOT USE same as the others I looked at the advert, at no point was I told about any price, this is daylight robbery, My mother has dementure, this company needs to cease its out of order they pick on victims in the cold who don't know any better, lock price 110 which was only twenty pounds on amazon or any other lock company, I have called back just to get flobbed off, do not trust these rip off merchants, I have asked the company to return the money and they just hung the phone up, £286 waisted on a lock that there was nothing wrong with that had just got stiff, waist of money I have informed them ia will take court action
