During 2022 we were looking to buy a house around Haywards Heath. The frenzied housing market meant it took more than a year and 10 offers before we finally secured our forever home. Throughout our search one agent stood out for us above the rest. The helpfulness of the staff, the quality of the videos and accuracy of the details of the properties were really helpful to us especially as we were then living far from HH. We were pleased that the house we ended up buying was on sale through them and would happily recommend them as a great estate agent despite not having paid for a service from them.

Lewes Branch
We recently sold our flat in Lewes and the staff were extremely diligent and highly professional. Communication at all stages of the process was superb.

I thought that it couldn't get worse than Cubitt&West, but with these guys it does. Over the last 2 years I had 3 experiences with them, despite being under offer and having a budget of over 550k including a small portable mortgage, on two occasions they wouldn't even let me view a property because they had already established that it would go for a lot more than the asking price and implied that I basically had no chance, given the fact that they obviously instigate a bidding war among potential buyers any chance they get, to get more money...they were very discriminating against me. Money money and money is all they care about, they sound like they're all in their 20s and on commission, and they couldn't even answer questions about the properties, like if the windows were double glazed or not, very important when you're looking at a Grade II listed building. They made me feel like I wasn't even worth their time when asking questions on the phone, and tried to talk me out of it by mentioning how many interested people they already had...this after the same property was already on the market last year and now has mysteriously fallen through and reappeared with a bigger price tag. Awful. I can see why they don't have good reviews, they even criticized the agents who sold my place saying that they "undersold it" and that they could have got me a better price. Same promises as Cubitt&West, who ended up selling my flat in Brighton for 75k under the asking price. These companies are like the Tories: false promises, lies, and incompetence everywhere. They could easily ruin your life, so use a local and smaller estate agent that you can trust, these "Bigger is better" companies as they call themselves don't even deserve a phone call. I will never buy or sell a house through them just based on the level of rudeness and incompetence I have experienced.

Contacted the Patcham branch to arrange to view a rental property. We were told the open day was a few days away, so booked. We were then called 3 days before to be told that 3 viewings had taken place already and the property was taken. We should have been contacted to be told that viewings were taking place on an alternative day. Very poor customer service and no consideration for renters.

Michael Harford at the Burgess Hill branch was extremely professional and gave us good advice and guidance when we had to sell my Aunts house last year. He always kept us informed on the progress of the chain and at all times we felt in very capable hands. We are very glad we chose Mansell McTaggart.

East Grinstead Branch - they were excellent. Selling and buying was a very long and drawn out process and Mansell’s were helpful and really supportive throughout. From the start I felt they had our best interests at heart. They offered sound advice and we were so pleased we went with them. Luca and Cameron were incredibly helpful with viewings and Steven was excellent with his sales progression support and assistance on numerous occasions! Anytime we called the office I felt whoever we spoke to knew all about our sale and eventual purchase, they seem to really work together as a team and we are so pleased we chose them! I am surprised at the negative reviews by sellers.
My wife and I are landlords who over 20 years had become so disillusioned by the appalling service by letting agents in Wealden compared to our agents in other areas that, after recovering yet another smashed up property we decided to manage our portfolio ourselves.
This was such a drain on our time and energy that we decided to sell the Wealden portion through Mansell McTaggart in course of which we were introduced to their letting team, and so decided to hand management to them while their colleagues arranged our property sales.
The letting service proved so excellent that we cancelled our sales, and for the first time in 20 years we feel we are getting the expertise and professionalism we pay for.
So many thanks to Brian Wilkins in the Uckfield office whose sterling work has been truly transformational.

Not a positive experience. They were great up until the point of where we selected them to sell our house, however it sadly went downhill from there. They were unprofessional on several occasions and we wouldn't recommend them to anyone looking to buy/sell. There are better agents in Crowborough.

Our purchase through Mansell McTaggart proved to be a very stressful experience and I would strongly urge anybody to avoid them. Their sales/office manager was determined to gazump us from the beginning which they did, twice, for the single purpose of completing a sale and purchase together and earn more commission. Unprofessional and money orientated, this has to be noted and avoided. Moving home is a big deal and this agent cares only about their commission. Please do not use.

I'm really surprised to read such bad reviews, I used the Haywards Heath branch to purchase my first property and they made the whole process seamless. They were very accommodating, quick to respond to my (many) questions and made me feel completely at ease during what I thought would have been a very stressful time. From first viewing to completion took about 8 weeks and they kept me updated throughout. Couldn't have asked for more really.

Mansell McTaggart is simply the best property agents in area. Their every suggestion or recommendation is highly appreciated and trustworthy. They are so quick and transparent that you can blindly go with their advice. They care for you and your property purchase. We had an amazing experience with Mansell McTaggart and hoping to go with them only for any next property deal.

The Agent, Andrew threatened to put the property back on the market after sale agreed if i didn’t immediately pay solicitor search fees even though they had moved the lender valuation and it had not happened yet this was also the agents mistake. Nobody should pay fees until evaluation is done as this could end the whole deal. Anyway through fear I paid the fees and guess what later down the line the valuation came back under and the whole sale fell through and i lost my fees. Haywards heath branch… steer well clear

We had our house on the market for around six months with Mansell McTaggart, at a time when houses were selling like hot cakes all around the country (late 2020/early 2021.
So we sat and watched a viewing on nanny cam. We were shocked to see the so called salesman was happy to stand in the kitchen playing with his mobile phone while the viewers were left to wonder around on their own, leaving muddy footprints on the carpet as they went. Then telling them about the negative comments he claimed previous viewers had made and what he didn't like about the place himself also making up some nonsensical story about our reason for selling. Then suggesting they make an offer way below the asking price (which none of them did). We'd already dropped the price substantially, thinking we must have been asking too much for it (the price suggested by Mansell McTaggart during the valuation).
Feedback from viewings was almost non existent throughout.

We called another agency (Connells), they sold it in just over a week, for the full asking price.

Do not touch with a barge pole!!!
My elderly parents tried to purchase a property in Horsham, with sale agreed or thought they were, until they found that the property had been put back on the market at a lower price, even the solicitors didn't know. Totally unscrupulous organisation - closer to say they are a shower of 💩💩😡🤬

Awful service from the Forest Row branch going back to selling a large property around August 2019 - eventually selling with another agent in March 2020. Used them as they were very local to the property - wish we had not. Also with a few lies thrown in. Things happened behind our backs without forewarning you to which they had poor excuses when confronted - be aware.

Read the small print - you have to pay if you take it off the market. And they do not get prospective viewers properly or let you do online viewings at this time

Diabolical service!

After viewing the property and selling our own we asked for a simple clarification of the details.
What was the overall size of the plot?
Thank goodness we did because after numerous phone calls and chasing we were told the actual area was significantly less than that on the details.
We were fobbed off with “We got the information from the vendors details when they bought the property”
Surely checking the details before marketing a property is a skill that a competent estate agent should exercise. It’s not difficult to do with Google Maps a freely available online tool.

It shouldn’t take the buyer to point out such a basic mistake.

Consequently, we have lost our buyer and have had to start from scratch again.

As we have learnt to our cost the stereotype of estate agencies has, unfortunately in the case of dealing with Mansell McTaggart, been proved. Don’t trust estate agents and buyer beware
