Oak Street Health a fraud!!!!!
The referral department referred me to specialists who didn’t bill dual insurances and I am left bills coming to my home demanding payment from me. And the secondary insurances telling me that I am responsible for them also.

I went in on a Friday afternoon which was the 1st time I could get within 24 hours of my call. I knew that I had a UTI as I was 76 yo and have them often. My urine was cloudy and the nurse I saw said that a UTI is the easiest diagnosis for a patient to make. She told me to call back before 6:00 to get the results which I did and she said we did the stick test and you do not have a UTI. I asked about going to urgent care and she said that they wouldn't do anything so I had a virtual call with Atrium on Sunday and she gave me an antibiotic and I was feeling better by 10:00 that night. At 2:30 pm on Monday they called and said Ms Johns, you do have a UTI. TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE. I never went back. Stay away from there.

I was a patient and really liked my doctor. She was thorough and referred me for X-ray for persistent cough. Turned out to be lung cancer. They never notified me when she retired. Saw another physician who was clueless. Needed multiple referrals and when I called the receptionist reviewed the list but never communicated this to my physician. Referrals never made. Staff were indifferent and many lazy. You can’t get consistent care for severe illness.
I take care of my 85 yr old uncle
I take care of my 85 yr old uncle. We've have had trouble every time he needs anything. He needed shots in his arms.Cause the right one hurts 24/7. Now he has Cancer again and it's a real bad cancer that spreads. Oak street health had screwed up every referral he has needed. Three different Drs he has had to go through. That doesn't help the issues. In fact it makes it worse. With the last Dr. She was not listening to what I was saying. She actually kicked me out of my uncle's visit. She even thought she needed security that's how far she pushed it I told her to be quiet just talk to my uncle don't talk to me anymore and she wouldn't do it. She rather kick me out well with that being said Oak Street health needs help lots of help. They just don't get it I don't know why they don't get good help.. She even Said on his summary that she might have a safety check. OMG that is a bunch of nonsense. I was just trying to tell her about my uncle. She did not want to listen to me at all! Now we will have another Dr. That makes 4.My uncle will not be seeing her again.. I will make sure of that. She just don't get my uncle doesn't make any calls,he doesn't speak up for himself that's why I speak on his behalf. She doesn't want to listen to me. Without history of what had been going on with Oak Street health. I am very upset with them. Have been ever since the first time we've been there. We have been there a lot of times. Trying to correct there mistakes. She didn't want to hear it.I am not making this up. I know there has to be bad reviews. I hope I am not the only one dealing with this mess of Drs.Like I said I am livid. They are not as good as the the reviews I read.. Oak Street health said they would take care of it. Let's see if they do.!!! If they don't I will not see her again. My uncle wants to keep them cause there right up the street and so is his pharmacy. Otherwise we would not be back. May God bless them and help them. Is all I am saying. Plus his MRI isn't till September 23rd. That's a long time to be in pain. He has a lot of pain with this cancer. They gave him tramadol I asked for oxycodone she wouldn't do it. People have done this to the ones that need it. Can't get help cause they think you're hooked on them. My uncle has NEVER disobed the Dr orders. He believes what ever the Dr says. In this day and age you don't do that. We research everything. Well I do! We have to now see a different Dr. I am not seeing her again and either is my uncle. He is seeing someone different. He has a appointment on the 13th. We will see someone else. Now I feel a little better getting this off my chest. I think you should post this. I am a real person that deserves respect. I am going to be the one talking most the time. When the conversation is something he can answer. Which is most the time. Please post this. They only post positive reviews it seems. Please let me know if you're not going to help us find a real Dr. One that listens to the care giver. I know he is the patient but I don't mean to be told to leave the room that was wrong totally I should have called the cops to let her go ahead and get security but they were going to walk me out anyway I was getting loud then cuz I was livid by then. Well trusting them still is hard for me. My uncle doesn't care at all. He will talk a little but he will say talk to her cause she knows more then i do. I take care of all the appointments. None of the other Drs have removed me for talking on his behalf. I have done nothing wrong for her to make a report for safety check. I don't do nothing wrong. I do talk loud that's just me. I am not going to apologize for me trying to make the Drs visit go faster. I have all the times, I knowwhere the appointment is and for what time.He was in the same appointment but doesn't hear very well. He refused to wear hearing aids. If this poor review is not posted that's wrong also. My granddaughter was with me. She was scared because of the Dr wanted me out fast so she didn't have to follow my request for stronger pain meds. Now he's having to take more of the one that she gave him because she won't give him anything stronger. I left my purse in there. My granddaughter went and got my purse for me and my phone cause she wantede out of there that fast. She was making things worse. That's the facts so far. Plus this is the very first time he's taken more then the Dr prescribed because the dosage she gave him doesn't work and the medication she gave him doesn't work she raised the dosage when she could have just gave him tramadol and oxycodone and they both work together just great that's it. I've even called them. She said someone would call me back well no one has even called. Why because they don't do anything fast when it comes to a patient. We're going to see another doctor on August 13th and they have to let us see another doctor if they don't I will have no choice but to leave taking my uncle with me.
The worst office visit I have ever had
The worst office visit I have ever had. In a virtually empty office, I was left waiting in an exam room for over an hour. I finally opened the door partway as I thought they had forgotten me. When I finally went to the bathroom (kidney infection and a weeks-long wait for appointment!!!))passed my "doctor", who was a rude PA, not a doctor! Things spiraled downward rapidly. If you paid me $1000 I wouldn't take it to go there. I saw 2 patients, who looked like zombies. Hell no! Patient revolution needs to happen.
Terrible communications; failure to deliver on professional obligations.
I like my primary care phyiscian with Oak Street, but that is all I like. She gets the star, zero for the rest of Oak Street Health.
Everything that has been reviewed earlier resonates with me. A scenario of my own: knowing I would be out of the country and returning to the U.S. for the month of August only, last year I made an appointment with a dermatologist for today (8/7). Perhaps a month ago the dermatoligist office contacted me saying that they needed an updated referrel from my inusrance company, which had to be initiated by my PCP (Oak Street). I called Oak Street immediately and requested that referrel. Time went by and the dermatologist contacted me again, saying they had not yet received the referrel. I called Oak Street again, and I was assured that the referrel would be processed. Long story short, the dermatologist texted me yesterday informing me that, due to not having recieved the referrel, they canceled my appointment.
But this is only the most recent issue. More typical are the promises of a call back "by the end of the business day" that are never made, or the fact that there seems to be no record of prior phone conversations, no picking up where I left off, but instead starting from the beginning each time I call about the same issue. And, or so, the sheer number of back-and-forth calls to resolve a single issue is exasperating.
The whole operation there is incredibly inept, frustrating and infuriating, and while I appreciated Oak Street when I first joined it in 2021, it has gone straight down hill since. Despite my appreciation for my PCP, I am going to look for a new outfit.
Oak St Health has gone downhill since CVS purchase
Oak St. Health was recently bought by CVS, and my opinion of the clinic has plummeted. I have made three attempts to obtain a referral they said they had for me, sitting in the office for an hour yesterday, and being charged for a consult, but never getting the referral. The office is seriously understaffed and it feels like the emphasis has changed from caring for seniors to maximizing profits.
The CVS Web site is terrible. Very hard to find your records. You click on the "Patient Portal" link and it goes nowhere, though their marketing pages work great.
Oak Street Health
I had Humana insurance and decided in October 2025 to change to Devoted as the payment was less. I notified Oak Street Health what my new insurance was going to be. I had a prescription to be renewed in January 2026 and I called the pharmacy to see if it was ready for pickup and found out it was never called in. I called Oak Street Health on Austin Bluffs Parkway, which was my clinic. After waiting for the person to check some information, she came back on the line and told me I was no lomger a patient there because I changed my insurance. NO EXPLANATION! NO LETTER! NO PHONE CALL! NO TEXT MESSAGE!
SILENCE as in crickets!!! I had to scramble to find a new primary care doctor.
I truly hope CVS, as the parent company, is paying attention to all of these NEGATIVE reviews. Piss poor operation!!!
I am switching back to Humana, but I will be damned if I go back to Oak Street Health!!!
This is a corporate money grab. Beware seniors!
I booked an appt 6 weeks ago for a general checkup, but also told them I had sever pain from a bulging disk that was causing shoulder and arm, nerve pain and explained that each time I look up my hand was going numb. While I waited I must have seen 100 tv ads for Oak Street. Each time claiming same day appts are available, new patients are being accepted and doctors are available. For me none of this was true. I waiting six weeks to be seen. By then with ice, heat, rest, anti-inflammatory meds and Youtube physical therapy vids, I ended up treated myself.
When I booked the appt I did it because I was able to see on their website many Dr.s were available, just like the smiling ones in the ad. I read the reviews and saw one I liked. They said I would meet with intake for 30 mins. Then a nurse for 30 mins and then the physician for 30.
When I arrived I was sent to intake and it was a very cold, corporate approach to medicine.
First thing they did was to try and get to add medicare coverage through their corporate partners. Seriously, an up sale to an ins agency that no doubt you get a benefit from?
Then started telling me they are preventative so I’ll visiting them frequently. I’m hearing we’re are going to bill medicare for everything we can.
Then I was told that I’d meet with a nurse-practitioner. When I asked if I was seeing the doctor I selected online, I was told their Zuni location didn’t have any. Only nurse-practitioners.
Then more corporate non sense with the intake rep who won’t answer why I can’t see the doctor I chose with the same reply over and over, “We don’t have any doctors at this location.” I asked if there was another location where I could establish a primary care doctor because I’m new to the area. “None of our Drs. are taking new patients.”
At that point nothing I had been told by the scheduler happened. The ad clearly stated they were taking new patients, same day appts were available and the patient care was primary. None of that was true. I waited six weeks with a bulging disk?
Then I learn CVS had purchased this healthcare company. Now I’m fearing how their approach is so corporate it’s a money grab.
These ads sound really good for seniors, but in reality CVS is a stock held company that is beholden only to shareholders not medical patients.
This corporate approach to healthcare made me feel invisible, it was inaccurate, and when I questioned it they clammed up and started stating corporate policy over and over, never addressing the question they were asked. I left before I finished intake.
I worked in Corporate America for 35 years. The last thing you want is a corporation handling your future medical needs. It was easy to see that their objective is to buy a lot of ad time generate customers and to add to the companies bottom line, not to do what is best for you. And I’ll wait another several weeks to be seen by another group. The entire process was a waste of time.
I have never been a patient, but the Ads are overwhelming.
I have never been a patient for I will be dedicated to the people who took care of me before I became a senior citizen. It is not right to persuade people to come with consistent interruptive videos while looking at something else. I have experience that everything that sounds good is not necessarily so at all. We have a right to choose our own MD.

I was contacted to get my Dr to fax a new script for my medicine. Its been 3 days, I cant sleep without it. Everyday I call, agent said I will sent a urgent request. No didn't happen.i thought this place for older people would be different, no they are not
Oak street is actually united healthcare insurance which care insurance
I have watched their commercials and recently saw a patient who was mismanaged by their providers. Oak street commercials never indicate that this is a division of United healthcare insurance This is deceptive as their interest seems to be extracting as much from Medicare and converting patients to the AARP Medicare advantage which is owned by United Healthcare insurance
I went for an introduction appointment…
I went for an introduction appointment with NP Nancy , and I was impressed. I thought this was a good choice for GP care and I have specialized care at VCU. I called several months later for (non controlled) prescription renewal i was diaappointed Nancy had left the practice. I was told to come in to pick up my prescription renewal Arriving on time, I was forced to wait 90 minutes. Before I could receive my prescription, I was told by a nurse that I had to have a complete blood panel and many vaccinations I offered to pull-up (my chart) my blood results recently completed. The nurse said “it’s okay, Medicare always pays for these tests”.
I anticipate they’ll have a Medicate investigation soon
.
If I could leave a zero I would do so
If I could leave a zero I would do so
I’m just going to say the Oat Street in Portsmouth Va is the worse I take my 93 year old mother there well I was now have to find her new doctor I have had scheduling problems with them that wasn’t our fault they canceled an appointment when you on the way we dealt that then today got appointment that was scheduled for 11am but a notification came in and it said 11:30 pm so I went with the notification that was sent in to my phone from them (Oat Street) so when the doctor Dr.(Delvenia Kilyofas)comes out to talk she was very unprofessional as if I’m lying about the time I show them the notification and she is like well I will see her but the visit will be short and she said I mean very short so I told them she doesn’t have to see by her so me and my mother talk with the director she was nice but the issue was Not solved to schedule another appointment that is another whole month away my mom has blood pressure issues and other health issues so I wouldn’t recommend anyone to go there that is serious about your health because they don’t care
That commercial is one big lie
Too much staph turnover.
The prescriber turnover is unbelievable. I am on my third Doc in a year. Everyone quits. Hmmm.
Bad Service
We started going to Oak Street over a year ago. We were treated great liked our DR, got in promtly.
This year we called in for an appointment(we go in together to save time) and to wait a month to get it. When we got there had to wait 1/2 hour before checkin. Then they only would let me in not my wife, her appointment was an hour later. As they took me back I told my wife to come along the nurse said NO. She did relent but told my wife she was not allowed to say anything. At that point I told the nurse they had plenty of time we were leaving.
I hate calling for an appointment with…
I hate calling for an appointment with my doctor or to ask her referrals. It is the worst setup I've ever seen and yes they are accentuating old medical records and they are frustrating me and they are difficult to work with and they are not following through on their work and I'm sitting here suffering because of this they need to be investigated for their process their patients should be able to get right through to the doctor's office not talk to five people and give them everything before you talk to the doctor's office.
I honestly don’t like their whole…
I honestly don’t like their whole primary care doctor and their staff there at all ever now. I’m just done with them right now. I think that they just care about my medical insurance forever not really about me so if you have a chance and you go to the one in Warwick,RI please find another primary care provider and physican that really cares about you right now. They are terrible as well forever.
NOT at all like their commercials
This has to be one of the worst medical experiences I've ever had. I was interested in becoming a patient but had some questions. I called the local clinic (Joliet/Essington Rd) with my questions. The phone representative was VERY rude towards me, kept interrupting me. I politely asked her to allow me to finish my question. She apparently didn't like that & hung up on me. This is a far cry from the image their TV commercials represent. On top of all that, I have made multiple attempts to get in touch with their patient relations department. I have been bounced around from person to person. I have had no one from Oak Street health even attempt to address this situation with me
Several issues
Several issues - from the Streamwood, IL location. The provider recommended Hep B series (3) vaccinations, which are staggered. Had 2 the 3rd one - they called to cancel my appt as there wasn’t a tech in the office that particular day. Didn’t need a tech - a MA is qualified to give vaccines. Tried to get it done at my pharmacy - they discovered OSH hadn’t entered the vaccine records (as required) so they could give me the 3rd vaccine with the correct manufacturer’s dose as recommended. Got this resolved by going to OSH & getting my medical records.
Next up my Medicare Advantage insurance does not bill me for office visits to my PPO…ever, as it’s part of my plan. Apparently OSH thinks patients are uninformed and they billed me for two office visits, one was suppose to be my annual checkup…which they made it a regular visit. And they continue to bill me for the two visits. I filed a grievance with my insurance and I am 100% correct but OSH continues to bill me as if they were a specialist office where I do pay a co-pay for the one specialist I see for a specific diagnosis that a General Practitioner doesn’t treat.
I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau to make sure OSH doesn’t get away with overcharging patients. This is clear Medicare fraud or a very feeble attempt at Medicare fraud. I spent 15 years in Healthcare IT and trained & supported hundreds of medical staff in EHR (patient charts), billing processes and more. I’ve spotted fraud before. Billing patients for services Medicare reduced because of their contracts is highly frowned upon. I just hope patients pay close attention but fear because they provide services to an older group of patients - many pay their bill without verification.
I have switched primary providers as I wouldn’t take my pets to OSH for treatment.
