Impossible to port out

I've been trying to port my phone number from Republic Wireless for 3 weeks! I've gotten zip code errors every time. Numerous phone calls and still no resolution. This seems like it should be easy to resolve but I get a different excuse every time. The last person I talked to suggested upgrading my plan in order to port my number. Why I should pay extra to leave RW? If I could rate zero, I would.
Update: Gave up after one last attempt. I got charged for the three weeks wasted trying to port my number and was told they would not reimburse me. Could not even transfer my contact list.

I would give zero stars if possible

I would give zero stars if possible. My husband and I have had cell phone with Republic Wireless from Day One. Suddenly on February 28 my cell phone stopped working. We went on the website, and my line had been cancelled (which means I lost my long-time phone number). There is no way to contact them online (such as live chat or an email), so we spent hours on the phone, only to be disconnected repeatedly. On March 3, I went to T-Mobile and bought two lines and two phones. We asked that my husband's number, which was still working, be ported to T-Mobile and the new phone. We have gone through the porting process FIVE times, but today is THREE WEEKS LATER, and the number still has not ported. Republic is blaming everything on a cyber attack that happened on February 23. How long can it take a modern cell phone provider to get its act together after a cyber attack?! Will they hold my husband's cell phone number hostage forever so they can keep charging him?

UPDATE: My husband called Republic again tonight. The representative said the network is still down and it can't be ported until next week. Therefore, he will be charged for another month of service (April) on April 1. Remember, we asked to be ported on March 3. The fact that they are going to charge us for another month due to their incompetence is outrageous.

Company failing everyone loyal customer

Previous Post but I have updates

Member for 8+ years.
In January of this year, I upgraded my plan through app. No issue actually easy. Come to find out it was easy because app does not tell you or confirm that you phone will need to be upgraded. Found this out through Customer service and that I would need to buy new phone (love unplanned expenses). Shopped for new phone. found one. Verified phone was unlocked and model would work on their network. so bought new phone.

Get new phone, transfer everything from old, and install new sim card provided. Cannot make or receive phone calls. Call customer support for help and waited and waited. Follow up on Feb 22nd no answer. Then everyday until phone system back but no other system. Come to found out, cyber attack has crippled their systems. (Bonus, cyber attack spilled personal information and someone applied for credit card under my name. I know it was from this as happened on Feb 22nd. Got to love the communication from Republic wireless).

Anyway Mar 21st systems back up. Following up, information is in. Phone model not accepted by Republic Wireless. My exact comment will reworded but basically "But your company previously said it would work with the phone I bought" and reply was great "Not anymore".

Republic Wireless are the Worst!!!!

Very disappointing

In the past I was a happy Republic customer, especially because of the ability to use wifi calling and texting when I was out of cell coverage (notably when traveling internationally). When they were bought out by Dish, everything went downhill. I've been traveling, and about 1 week into my trip my wifi calling and texting stopped working. Under settings it now says "Republic Wireless (temporarily unavailable)." Search on their website and find it extremely frustrating that there's no way to submit a ticket or otherwise get help. It's maddening to have a phone issue, and the only way to reach customer service is via a phone line. Do you appreciate the irony of this? The website (under support) even mentions RTM or a ticketing system, but it appears an actual link to any of these services has disappeared. I managed to use another phone to call the help line ... I could barely hear the agent speaking (again, are you a telephone company??) and he had no help for me other than essentially I should have upgraded to one of the new plans with a new SIM. If that was going to be a requirement for my phone to work, why did they not just send me a new SIM at some point.

I was with republic wirless as a beta…

I was with republic wirless as a beta customer years ago. Initially they has some issues, later it became a really good service until Dish bought them. For a couple of months I could not recieve phone calls. They kept asking me to check my phone settings. Later asked me to change my phone plan because management is encouraging it. I did not want to change my plan. So I left RW. There are better and cheaper plans out there.

I've had RW for 6 years

I've had RW for 6 years, and it's been great....until DISH bought them. Now REPUBLIC BY DISH SUCKS! After not being able to make outgoing calls and not being able to reach anyone. I called Consumer Cellular. Sadly, I believe DISH will tank RW and go bankrupt, at this rate.

was once a great company

was once a great company, super easy to talk to, very friendly and reponsive. Then Dish Network bought them out and that was the beginning of the end. Horrible service, non working phones, non working text messaging over Wifi. Nonexistent customer support. It's obvious Dish could care less about Republic and is killing it as quickly as they can.

Mr. Morken, can you hear me now?

I hung up after being on hold for over an hour waiting for “Support” to answer the phone. I joined the Republic wireless service during its beta phase on 12/26/11. I remained a faithful customer during the Dish takeover and upgraded to 5G devices. The service has worked reasonably well. However, support no longer exists. How can you support customers when you can't keep your own call center online? Dish? Nonetheless, besides lack of support, this takeover has created one very serious flaw in access to account information. It is no longer possible to access call history. Previously, call history was available for review and/or use for billing purposes. If it is still available, there is no obvious place to find it. Please explain why this basic feature of most cell providers is no longer available. Any professional using Republic service and billing their time, would lose all income associated with this carrier. Since it has been about 8 months since Dish assumed control, adequate time has passed for addressing this deficiency. Please make this information available via the online account console.

Dish destroyed the service I had liked…

Dish destroyed the service I had liked and enjoyed for years. Now I can't move my service bc their internal system is down. Reading this it's been down for 5 days. Definitely leaving asap! Worst customer service ever! Republics had 5 star customer service support!

Trying to leave Republic Wireless

Trying to leave Republic Wireless, but I need a pin number to keep my phone number.
I have been calling Republic Wireless for days, and their phone systems are down. This has been going on since Saturday (3 days now).
How can a phone company have broken phone lines for 3 days?
One more reason why I must leave this carrier (I've had them for several years)

Their "support" line is not working

I need my phone PIN number so I can change providers. The only way to access it is to call Republic Wireless "support" line. Their "support" line is experiencing "issues" and they are working to fix it asap, they are very sorry. How many days will this take? Sheesh!!!! I am leaving because service is terrible since DISH took over.

The help center use to actually help

The help center use to actually help. Now it directs you to boost mobile number who cant help REPUBLIC WIRELESS. Seriously, how does a missed bill result in the phone line being suspended and not turn on immediately after you correct asap. Im finally drawing the line as a legacy customer with this joke of a company.

Hotspot data isn't tracked

Horrible service. They sell you x amount of Hotspot data. The illegal thing is...they have no way of telling you how much of it you've used. The service center can't tell you and the phone's republic and service apps cant tell you. Hotspot stopped working and they claim I must have used up my monthly amount but I used very little and they have no way of proving otherwise. What a scam, they sell you something no one can tell you how much you've used and it randomly stops working. They put limited work into setting it up and push the half baked app at the customer that doesn't track what they're selling. It's like they're selling smoke and getting away with it. Congress should shut this crap down

Republic was stellar before Dish

Republic was stellar before Dish. It worked flawlessly on wifi, which was nice as there are no cell towers around my house. My first phone with Republic was May 2013, Dish came into the picture, price doubled, service no longer worked AND they make it VERY difficult to transfer your number out. Five phones with them, three were almost three months to transfer, one EIGHT months. The last one, today over TWO WEEKS and many calls exceeding 40 mins to get it done. What a WASTE!

Republic fraud

We had two lines with Republic.

Promise was, pay the bills and use the same phones and you are guaranteed the same same pricing.

But Republic no longer supports that system. Phones have increasing problems.

Republic says: "Sorry, but you have to buy new phones ($300 minimum per phone) and pay $35/month more."

Or stay with the old phone that is no longer working.

Zombie account won't go away.

I still have an account that I cannot close, and they continue to email me, even though I canceled service years ago. There is no way to close my account by logging into it, and no way to contact support other than calling an 866 number. Searching their site FAQ etc., for "close account" gives no results. Replying to the email (which goes to "reply" at the URL in question) gets me a "not delivered" automated error. This tells me enough about their current customer support since being bought by Dish that I will never consider using them again.

Update: weird response. No other legit company with a website requires you to contact them on facebook or twitter. Unprofessional.

Once Dish Network bought Republic It Became Unusable

Once Dish Network bought Republic, it has cratered and is now a catastrophe. Do not use Republic. I don't care that they are cheap. Don't use it. They suck so hard. There is no online chat support you have to call and while the call support people will try to help you, in the three times I worked with them, they were unable to resolve my problem. Pluse the Republic Wireless website is terrible, just the worse.

Do not waiste your time or money

I was one of the beta testers when they first founded. This company and customer service was great until Dish bought them. Now service is terrible and customer service is laughable. They lie, make up fees, close tickets without working on them, and refuse to refund credits to accounts. This is now a completely unethical company that needs to be shutdown.

This is my second time using Republic Wireless unfortunately they won't let me use a new email address they want me to use my old one I can't remember it they should change that it has made me very upset it's not my fault I have a short term memory, also it's dumb that I couldn't keep my same mobile phone number from a different mobile phone carrier

Excruciatingly frustrating

Excruciatingly frustrating! Used to have 3 GB in my plan and after DISH now I have 1. Customer service is blatantly useless. On top of that, strangely, now my wifi function deactivates without my intervention so I consume plan data even at home or work without noticing, leaving me with no service for half a month. Looking for another carrier.
