Very poor service and terrible response…
Very poor service and terrible response rate. It has taken from 15th April to 17th June (with numerous emails sent to a number of different staff and email addresses) to get them to update our company details correctly, vet our responses, and issue the certification - despite choosing the 'express' service! Only a handful of my enquiries were even responded to. I am not really sure what the £2,500 buys you (it seems very poor value compared to the level of input and feedback you get from, for example, an ISO surveillance audit), but safe to say the only reason for membership is that a handful of our clients require it. They have at very least adjusted the invoice to only charge us for the standard service.

Having reviewed your account, we have identified the root cause of the delays and miscommunication. Following your request to update your company details in April, our team promptly made the required changes soon after. We then began auditing your documentation but failed to confirm with you that these amendments had already been completed.
Later in the process, your application successfully passed our pre-audit checks and this was communicated to you by email. Unfortunately, your file was not progressed to the next stage within our system. This error resulted in the extended timescales you experienced and could have been avoided with more communication from our team.
This experience has been shared with the wider team and used as a learning opportunity to prevent similar issues from occurring in the future. We will also ensure that your renewal next year is supported closely to provide a smooth and seamless experience. I have reinstated the Express package on your account free of charge to solidify this.
Once again, please accept our sincere apologies, and thank you for giving us the opportunity to put this right.

Tick box exercise.
Covers some of the things covered by ISO45001, Constructionline, SSIP etc but focuses on the risks in their list rather than risks actually faced by the Company being assessed. Very much a tick box exercise. All assessment is done remotely. Overall, not the most difficult of these things to do.

We are glad to hear you did not find the process difficult to complete and you managed to get approved by us for your first year. I can advise that on your future renewals the process will be much more fast and straightforward as you will mainly need updated documentation to be provided rather than completing the full application from scratch again.
I just wanted to clarify that while there can be an overlap between SafeContractor, ISO 45001 and other accreditations, they assess different things. ISO 45001 focuses on a company's overall health and safety management system and works towards risks being eliminated in the workplace, whereas SafeContractor assesses the evidence, competencies and controls in place for the specific work activities being carried out on site.
We do differentiate from an ISO audit as we would not go on site to assess the risks. We do, however, assess our customers on a very high level, being UKAS accredited ourselves, we are compliant with Health and Safety standards and our audits help reduce the supply chain risk for our clients and ensure contractors meet legal and industry requirements.
