We recently revamped the back of the house and swapped the doors and window around and the difference has been unbelievable. I couldn’t fault the service, communication and works carried out and the after sales care has been great to, just checking everything was satisfactory.

Tyneside home improvements have just completed a single storey extension at the back of our house. Exceptional product quality and service from start to finish. The workforce from groundwork, installation of supalite roof and windows, plastering and electrical were highly skilled, knowledgeable and committed. Excellent office support throughout the process, a focus on customer satisfaction, ensured the work finished on schedule. We would recommend Tyneside home improvements without reservation and will use them again in the future.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS – I HAD TO ISSUE A COURT CLAIM TO RECOVER MY MONEY

If I could give zero stars, I would.

I sincerely hope no other customers have paid 80% of the contract value in circumstances where no building work has been done.

I signed a contract in January 2026 and paid 50% in advance for a standard garage conversion. The works were repeatedly delayed, with proposed start dates moving several times with very little notice.

When I cancelled because of these repeated delays, THI claimed that 80%(!!!) of the total contract value would be due, despite no installation or construction work having started. I repeatedly asked for the legal basis, invoices, documents, cost breakdown and evidence of any unrecoverable costs to justify that position. THI repeatedly, and in my opinion purposely, ignored these requests. This left me with no choice but to issue a County Court claim to recover my money.

Only after the claim was issued did THI’s position change from 80% of the contract value being due, to smaller alleged costs. One of these costs was, what appeared to be, a standard sized window. The invoice provided showed it was ordered after proposed start dates had already been missed (the order date per the invoice was more than 3 months after the contract was signed). This was not delivered until even more proposed start dates had been missed. THI continued to seek payment from me for this window despite the cancellation and despite how late it had been ordered. They did not provide a response when I asked whether it could be returned or reallocated to another project

Overall, I found the delays, communication, overall conduct and handling of the refund dispute extremely poor. THI held a substantial amount of my money for months despite no building work starting, and I had to take formal action and incur additional costs to get the matter resolved. Based on my experience, I would never use this company again.

My concern is that other customers in the same position may not have the time or resources to challenge this kind of conduct. THI held a substantial amount of my money, and even claimed more was due, despite no building work starting. THI only properly narrowed its position after I pushed repeatedly and issued a County Court claim. I am leaving this review so others are aware before they agree to sign contracts or pay large sums up front.

The sales process was smooth and the team initially seemed professional, but what we were sold didn’t match what was then installed. The roof lantern on our extension ended up significantly off‑centre.

After raising this, we seemed to get nowhere for a few days We considered calling the contract void at one point we were so frustrated. But after a lot of ‘there’s nothing we can do’ they finally offered to fix it, but only at an additional cost to us. Some of that extra cost was negotiated down to overlook damage caused elsewhere (including to our driveway), but we still ended up paying more than initially quoted to get what we were originally sold.

Communication during the build was a major issue. We were given specific dates for trades to attend, but people often didn’t turn up as promised. Callbacks to the office were frequently missed or delayed, and the overall build time was massively underestimated compared with what we were initially told. With multiple subcontractors of varying quality on site and limited coordination, the whole process became very stressful. We had to cancel our planned summer holiday and ended up pointing out basics like ‘the plumber hasn’t been in for first fix but you’ve sent a plasterer’

On the positive side, the final finish is good. The spaces look as we hoped and the quality of the completed work so far seems solid. Had this been fixed without incurring additional cost (as it should have been when comparing the renders and drawings provided). Then the Rating would undoubtedly have been higher, once they eventually kicked into gear work completed quickly and efficiently.

The final week involved over a dozen calls from the office to ask if the work was now complete (it wasn’t) and If could release the funds. It had been the most communication I’d had during the process.

There have been a few minor follow‑up issues, with plumbing and electrics but the office seems now to be responding and arranging fixes, although still yet to get dates/times from the actual trades to repair.

Overall, the end result is good, but the journey to get there was far more difficult than it should have been. If you’re considering them, be very clear in writing about design details timelines, and who is responsible for coordinating subcontractors.

Ask for a detailed programme and regular updates, and don’t assume the sales quote equals the final spec even after checking the drawings and contract, double and triple check every detail

Built a large 9m x 3m orangery, complex location close to water, and internal renovation work including wall removals and rebuild. Overall all the different teams who came on site to deliver their scope of work were hugely professional. They had a high quality of work and always had experienced leads.

We had some surprises with what they found on the knockdown but were always identifying options and ideas to achieve the goal.

The office team and leadership were present and available, with good organizing and communication response was professional, timely and helped manage questions or situations well.

We had a specific timeline we needed to get done by, we achieved that timeline, and I appreciate how much THI did to make it happen.

I will happily recommend for others and would use again myself in the future.

From start to finish we could not have asked for a better company to complete our orangery. All the workers were highly skilled and worked really hard. Paul and Grant to mention a couple of them worked in all weathers getting the groundwork completed. There standard of work is second to none and we can't thank them enough for their kindness. All the teams were polite and cleaned up at the end of each day. The office staff, Anthony, Charlotte and Danielle kept us up to date with the work progress and were so helpful and friendly. It went over the initial timescale but these things happen and it can't be helped. We are so happy with the finish and the house is so much brighter. I would definitely recommend THI to others as their work is exemplary.

Once again THI have exceeded my expectations in my second installation this year. Top quality materials were used to install french doors, back door, fascias and guttering to compliment the look of my orangery which they completed earlier this year. The administration team were polite and courteous and the installation team were professional, skilled and friendly. I am delighted with the overall finish. Thank you to a very reputable company, I will be recommending you to family and friends.

From the initial design stage, the construction, frame/ glass installation, through to electrics, plastering and woodwork, I have been in safe hands. Through each phase of the build, the THI contractors have provided a professional service, taking great pride in their work, with an exacting eye for detail. As a THI customer, I have been 'front and centre' at all times, treated with courtesy and consideration . I am thrilled with my Orangery and highly recommend THI.

We had our conservatory converted using the super light roof system and from start to finish the job was perfect, our job was a complex one too abd it was executed to perfection, all the guys are true professionals who took care of our house, cleaned up and were very polite. We highly recommend

Our project was fairly sizeable which involved building an extension to the side of our bungalow, knocking through to four separate rooms including two bathrooms. This involved a number of different teams and individuals along the way. Inevitably there were one or two issues to resolve but these were all dealt with satisfactorily. Overall, the standard of workmanship was very good and the individuals we dealt with were helpful and polite. A special mention for Anthony who has been exceptionally helpful and responsive. Importantly, we also have every confidence that if any post-completion problems arise, they will be dealt with promptly and efficiently. For an end to end process from planning through to completion of the build, I would recommend THI.

After a slow start in the depths of winter our orangery is now finished and it was so worth the wait. The sandstone wall matches the original cottage perfectly and the glass installation is of the same excellent standard as our window installation carried out by THI in the summer. The orangery has proved a great addition to the property and we are very pleased with it. After 2 successfully completed projects within a year we would have no hesitation in recommending this company.

I had new windows fit throughout my house and also the sunroom at the beginning of April. Kevin and Lewis, who are a father and son team completed the work to a very high standard. They were professional and took extreme care of my property. They cleaned up all the mess at the end of each day. I would recommend this company to everyone wanting any work doing on their property.

Our overall experience with THI was nothing short of exceptional, from initial contact through to final sign-off and decoration. They turned our ‘unliveable’ Conservatory into a a little piece of year round paradise.
Having experienced the uncomfortable seasonal temperature variations and weather noise (wind and rain) in the Conservatory of our new home, we decided that an upgrade to a solid insulated roof (the original was Polycarbonate) and installation of new generation Double Glazed unit was absolutely necessary to enjoy the extra live space throughout the year.…but where to start with so many adverts on-line and varying testimonials…???
After hours of research, and seeking genuine feedback, we eventually decided to go with a local firm in THI and this proved to be the perfect choice. Simply to say, they EXCELLED in customer experience, professionalism, workmanship, product and quality of build.
From the outset of initial discussions on our needs we felt that we were in good hands. Every meeting was held at home, on time, permitted multiple iterations of our design consideration and at no point did we feel pressured to undertake something that was not what we wanted.
The selling points for us were the flexibility in build options, demonstration of the new construction technology, with higher insulation properties of the SuperLite Tiled Roof and new Double Glaze units.
The Infrared Light Demo, comparing old & new Glazed Units, was highly effective. We are now living those positive claims, with both reduction in heat gain from sunlight and internal thermal heat loss through the roof windows.
The ‘pièce de résistance’ was, once we had decided on what we thought was our final design, when THI brought it all together with Virtual Reality Technology (VR Goggles), which even included the view of our garden through the windows, with the finished build right there in front of your eyes…👀
WOW…!!! is all we can say…but that brought about even more changes, as we explored instant updates ‘on the fly’, and saw them brought to ‘real life’ through the VR Technology. The design we finalised on, & saw through the VR Tech is what we got and we’re absolutely delighted...🥰
Once we had paid the deposit we just sat back and THI took care of everything else including Planning Application and Construction.
We had one delay. but that was communicated at the last minute due to the early winter inclement weather and rescheduled to a month later.
Right on time, THI construction team turned up, discussed the demolition, construction process and timeline of the various activities.
Day 1 and they completed removal of the old roof and window structure and installation of the new framework, even with the cold and wet conditions of January.
Day 2 saw the installation of the Double Glazed Units, initial Roof Frames / Batons and Skylight installation. Even in the rain and sleet the job progress never stopped.
Day 3 and the External SuperLite Roof Shingles, Lead Flashing, Guttering and Final Trim were completed along with internal Electrics, Light Fittings, and initial insulation and plastering.
Day 4 and the job was done. LED Down-lights, switches and plastering complete…just plaster to dry before decorations could commence.
Throughout the installation, the Quality Manager visited at various stages to ensure work was being completed to the highest standard and discussed any of our concerns and feedback. A couple of small issues were noted but rectified the very next days without question.
The Construction Team were courteous, on time, kept the workplace in impeccable condition and made sure everything was tidy at the end of the day. Their workmanship was without reproach and the final product and finish is superb.🤩
Not only does our new ‘Garden Room’ look AWESOME, with the Anthracite Exterior and White Interior Framing, but is now our ‘room of choice’. It is ‘fully liveable ’without heating or ventilation, on sunny as well as cold and wintery days, with NO wind or rain noise to disturb our moments of relaxation in paradise.
Do not hesitate, if you want a quality job, completed on time, to the highest standard of product and workmanship then Tyneside Home Improvements has to be your choice.😀

Wow where do I start with all this ......? I guess it's the beginning. Well it all first started when we first got our windows and doors installed which was fine until a few years in and things started to creep up with faults .

I got incontact with my finance company which was Novuna who I was advised to get in contact with and they looked in to my issues and at the end they told us about Tyneside home improvements .

Novuna stated it would be between 7 to 10 days and they will be in contact . When I put the phone down with in 15 to 20 minutes tyneside was incontact and said that we will have someone come out to look at the work needed .

Then it all started ........ from the most polite friendly staff at the office to such great members of staff who turned up and I really have to give this gentleman a big shout out to .........

Paul ..... a lovely gentleman who came on time so polite well mannered who gave us tips to keep our windows and doors tip top that wouldn't cost a bomb to make sure they are ok and any questions asked to him he answered with no waffle with easy to understand responses .

I cannot recommend tyneside home improvements enough because when one company failed the came threw and fixed it and gave us faith there is good honest workmen and work women about to to contact about work and from now on any future work needed for our home we will be sure contact tyneside to be the trusted company we go to .

I was extremely impressed with the service provided by the whole Tyneside Home Improvements team, and with the Supalite roof they installed on my conservatory. They made the whole process easy and painless. Communication throughout the project was fast and informative from Administration staff and tradesmen alike. During the installation, all tradesmen were pleasant, helpful, clean and very efficient and effective, going out of their way to ensure that I was not disturbed in any way. They were very respectful of both me and my property and completed the installation in the agreed time. I am delighted with the new Supalite roof which has converted what was a cold and unwelcoming space into a warm, secure, light and bright fully usable extra room.

I had this company put me a conservatory roof on about eight year ago. I've had a little problem with the gutter at one corner on and off for a couple of years. Each time I rang they were no problem and sent someone to sort it, I've just had it redone and hopefully will be sorted. Great service both on the phone and fixing the problem, the lad was spot on came on time and had it done within a hour. It's the only problem I've had with the new roof and I have and still will recommend them! Thank you 👍
