The Young Writers competition is a great way for children to share their ideas and enjoy writing. It’s fun, exciting, and helps everyone feel proud of their work.
The staff are really kind and helpful. They answer questions quickly and make everything easy for teachers and pupils.
The website is simple to use, with clear instructions and lots of useful information. It’s easy to find what you need, upload your writing or you can post it in.
The SPaG Monsters session make spelling, punctuation and grammar fun! The bright characters and activities help children learn important skills without it feeling like hard work.
Overall, Young Writers is brilliant for encouraging creativity and confidence. I would definitely recommend it to any school that wants to inspire young authors or families to use at home with their own children.

My daughter was very excited to see her poem included and really enjoyed the experience of being published alongside her classmates. The initial communication suggested that inclusion was a selective process recognising particularly strong submissions. However, it became apparent that a very large proportion of pupils had their work included in the final publication. This gave the impression that the anthology functions more as a commemorative keepsake for families than as a curated literary collection. While it was lovely for the children to see their work in print, greater transparency about the nature of the selection process would help parents make more informed decisions about purchasing the finished book.
