After having an email to say they couldn't take my insurance money out and now being charged a late payment fee and threatening to cancel my insurance which I contacted them as they tried taking before my agreed date when setting up the insurance, spoke to them and wouldn't confess to there mess up and instead tried blaming me for not having correct date.... I wouldn't set up a payment date before I get paid! Then tried charging when looking on my payments twice in one month they was going to charge me! Tried resolving this to be told im sill being charged a late fee for their mess up, would highly not recommend never had an issue with my previous insurers my guess is they enjoy this to gain extra money out of people... not happy in the slightest make sure you read reviews on this company and keep an eye on payments being taken out

So I had 16 years NCD a year ago and a theft claim reduced that to 3 years by Zenith. On enquiry it turns out they immediately reduced my 16 years to 5 years(wth?!?) and then reduced it by 2 years for the claim(fair).
Having eventually managed to speak to them, the logic doesn’t seem to stack up…and in the meantime I’m having to pay sky high premiums on a new policy!
I don’t have a problem with reduction in NCD due to a theft. But 16 years down to 3?
So much for transparency and the FCA Consumer Duty!
Thanks Leanne - I have forwarded my email on and hoping somebody eventually gets my email and actually react as a complaint if anyone gets it. I can confirm your processes are weak in this regard - you’re obligated under the regs to make complaining easy. This is hard work. Five attempts to send to one of your various and complex email addresses and in the meantime call handlers in South Africa who I can barely understand and the line keeps dropping

Absolutely appalling experience with Zenith Insurance�. This company attempted to take money from my account before the agreed direct debit date, despite being clearly informed that my payment arrangement was set for the last working day of each month. Instead of acting professionally, Zenith tried to access my account early and then blamed me for “insufficient funds” when they failed to follow the agreed payment schedule.
On 29 May, I specifically informed Zenith that the funds were available in my account and that their systems needed updating to reflect the direct debit deposit timing. Rather than correcting their error, they waited until 07 May to take the agreed £37.21 payment and then unlawfully added and withdrew an extra £20.00 charge, taking a total of £57.12 from my account without justification.
This behaviour is dishonest, misleading, and completely unacceptable from a regulated insurance company. Hiding behind vague “terms and conditions” after attempting to take money early is nothing more than an excuse to impose unfair charges on customers. I contacted Zenith immediately and explained that I should not be penalised for their failure to follow the agreed direct debit arrangement, yet the company showed no professionalism, accountability, or common sense.
I would strongly warn customers to monitor their bank accounts carefully if dealing with Zenith. Their payment handling practices are aggressive, confusing, and appear designed to generate additional charges rather than help customers maintain their policies fairly. Extremely disappointing service from a company that should understand basic financial conduct and customer care.
