ZERO STARS – Dishonest, Incompetent, and Utterly Useless
Do not believe a single word this company tells you. Their 3–5 day delivery promise is a complete joke, I am now on day 9 with absolutely nothing to show for it.
I have called them almost 30 times and for what? Absolutely nothing. Poor communication, almost no relevant updates, no honesty, no apology, and certainly no delivery. Every single time I get fobbed off with the same laughable excuse: "Delivery will be with you in xxx hours", "The truck has broken down" Except they've used that lie three times in 2 days. Three breakdowns? Really? Either their fleet is held together with duct tape and hope, or they are blatantly lying to my face. I know which one I believe.
Let me make this crystal clear: I ordered exactly 5 skirting boards. Not a full house lot. Not tonnes of materials. Skirting. Boards. Yet yesterday; day 8, their van had supposedly broken down. Fine. They guaranteed delivery this morning. Guess what? Now the crane on the truck had broken. They then promised the goods would be sent with a courier and told me to wait 1.5 hours... which I did, like an idiot. When I called back, it became painfully obvious that their left hand has absolutely no idea what their right hand is doing, because the goods were never even with a courier in the first place. And when supposedly they were finally picked up, the courier's clutch conveniently broke just 5 minutes away from my property. 5 minutes. You could not make this up.
Their communication is non-existent by design. They do not care. I have to do all the chasing which has been useless. They have taken my money, ignored my time, and shown zero respect for their customers. 9 days of waiting, wasted time, countless calls, and all I get are fairy tales about broken-down vans. It is an absolute shambles from start to finish.
This company is either completely inept or perfectly happy to deceive people frankly, I don't care which, because the result is the same: I paid for a service they are physically incapable of providing. I should have read previous reviews before ordering from these guys.
My advice? Save yourself the headache, the rage, and the wasted time and calls. Go elsewhere. Anywhere. A company this incompetent does not deserve your money or your patience.

Thank you for your feedback. I have now personally investigated what happened with the branch involved. Whilst the sequence of events was extremely unfortunate and I completely appreciate why it appeared unbelievable from your perspective, I have been able to confirm that there were genuine and separate vehicle/mechanical breakdowns affecting your delivery.
With such a catalogue of issues occurring, maintaining accurate and timely communication unfortunately proved difficult. That does not excuse the experience you received, and I am genuinely sorry that the communication fell below the standard we expect and that your order ultimately fell outside our advertised 3–5 working day delivery window.
I have reached out to you directly as I would really like the opportunity to resolve this with you and hopefully restore some of your confidence in us.

Timber order
Ordered some timber joists for a decking frame. Price was really good. After not hearing any update on delivery I contacted them by phone. The lady I spoke to informed me who the timber was being supplied by and that she would contact them for an update and then get back to me.
True to her word she called me back 10 minutes later saying they were having issues supplying the timber I wanted in 3.6m lengths.
They therefore offered to supply the same number of joists but in 4.8m lengths for the same price. The timber was delivered a few days later but there was a bit of a mix up by the driver and not all my order was delivered.
After a call it was arranged that the outstanding timber would be delivered the following day and they had changed delivery routes to make my order the first drop as I needed the timber urgently by this stage.
The following morning everything was delivered without incident.
An order not without its issues and mistakes were made. The important thing is staff worked really hard to correct them and fulfill my order as quickly as possible and I can only thank them for that.

Would not recommend, wish I went local. Website says 3-5 days delivery, not true. Its been over a week and my order is still “preparing to be shipped”. Sent two emails with no response, tried phoning but never gets picked up.

So much for the ‘customer-centric’ approach…
Ordered some wood for a garden project (hanging pergola) from here as prices were reasonable, however things went a bit downhill after that…. was over a week (9 days from order confirmation) before I even got an email with delivery date, even though website states 3-5 days - had tried calling to chase it but no answer. When the wood arrived (fulfilled and delivered by Travis Perkins bizarrely) one of the lengths of wood was badly split so (as it was out of office hours) I emailed to advise DIY to politely let them know. It has now been a full week and still no response to my email and no answer to any of my calls either… I would call the company’s customer service absolutely sh** but actually it’s just completely non-existent.

DIY Building Supplies have the second lowest prices in their sector and were an absolute pleasure to do business with after a bad experience with the only cheaper competitor. They kept me informed throughout the process and everything happened in a timely manner. I have ordered from them twice so far and will definitely use them again in the future. I highly recommend this company, just make sure to ask them in what lengths they can get your desired dimensions of timber before planning a cut list because they can't always supply certain lengths shown on the website, however they will always contact you to discuss and then substitute total metreage equivalent to or exceeding your original order.

What amazing service from this company
What amazing service from this company. I had communication emails, I was advised it was coming from the manufacturer but the customer service side of things is still their responsibilty. I booked the delivery in when the manufacturer called me, and guess what.... they turned up exactly on the day chosen and within the timeframe they gave me. The driver even put it into my garden for me. The product is perfect. An outstanding service from beginning to end. I'm very pleased. Incredible timber quality and unmatched delivery rates!
I recently ordered a bulk load of long-length treated timber joists and decking boards from DIY Building Supplies for a demanding garden bridge project, and the service was faultless from start to finish.
The structural joists (which I’m using to sister and support a heavy bridge span) were absolutely pristine. Honestly, they were so consistently straight and clean that I had a genuinely hard time choosing which ones to select as my primary sister logs—the quality across the board was that high.
The decking boards arrived in equally perfect condition. Anyone who buys long timber online knows the gamble: you usually expect twisted, banana-shaped planks or split, cracked edges from rough handling. Not a single one of these boards was twisted or blown out at the ends. A few boards had minor natural imperfections—like a slightly shaved bottom edge—but that is completely standard for real timber, and frankly, far fewer than what I've previously received from major national timber merchants. Everything was incredibly straight and full-length.
To top it all off, the delivery was only £25. For a massive lorry to haul heavy, long-length timber right to my door for that price is absolutely insane compared to the £180 other sites were quoting me.
Outstanding value, premium timber, and a brilliant delivery service. I will absolutely be using them again for my next project. Highly recommended!

Im afraid I have to leave very poor review. The timber they delivered is all warped, not straight at all, even twisted, but meant to be. It says Regularised Timber. Half of it cannot use. Its a shame.

No communication whatsoever about delivery until I chased up, and then it was scheduled for 7 days later, total 10 days in all from date of order.
If you want cheaper prices, then I'd recommend. If you want a fast delivery then nope.

I won’t be using again
I won’t be using again, ordered timber lengths for a project as had good reviews. Order was split over 2 deliveries due to availability. First delivery couldn't fault, excellent, this was a week ago. Still waiting for the second order. After being offered a lower grade product at the same price and lots of back and forth the delivery was arranged for Wednesday, no show. Was rearranged for Friday and was told didn't need to be in for delivery. Driver was unable to deliver due to no one being in and now have had to delay project further and pay for the craftsmen for a full weekend without any work.
