Booking is fine but annoying that’s it’s an hourly rate instead of a daily rate - so you either claim a few pence short or add expenses on to make up your agreed daily rate - and payments not where near as efficient as SEP

Non Human and treat you like dirt

This company consistently provides an infuriating level of service. In the latest example, despite having been registered and actively working shifts through the platform for the last 5 or 6 years, never missed a shift, consistently get good feedback and repeat bookings from pharmacies, Locate a Locum suddenly decide, seemingly out of the blue that the reference contact on my profile is “invalid”. No explanation why, but as a result they put a block on my account meaning I cannot book shifts. The shifts I have booked I am still expected to work so it is questionable as to the degree of concern they have. They have asked me to upload a new reference which I have done and now they say it will take up to 7 days for approval from the compliance team before I can book more shifts. Based on previous experience I feel I am likely to find that it takes considerably longer and I will have to repeatedly chase them to sort it out. You would have thought this matter would only be a concern when initially registering for a first shift, not several years down the line. This example perfectly highlights the attitude and treatment you receive from locate a locum. You are treated like dirt at every interaction and have to constantly jump through hoops to maintain your access to shifts. I would say if you don’t need to use them, don’t use them. I don’t feel any of us that do use them do so through choice, more necessity.

Absolutely dreadful service you're…

Absolutely dreadful service you're better of getting your own contacts and building proper relationships with independent owners.. disgraceful concept of lowering rates to 18£/h..for qualified pharmacists..no negotiating option..no intervention if you don't get paid by companies...just stupid..useless waste of time.....

Booking shifts are easy once all your qualifications are uploaded and approved.

Locate a Locum is entirely for the…

Locate a Locum is entirely for the benefit of the employer. If I cancel a shift, get a strike
3 strikes and the account is suspended for 6 months. If they cancel, no penalty. theyv created a bidding war, which keeps the rate very low. Pharmacists are accepting low rates in fear of losing the booking. Breaks are forced on us at times that suit them, not us. Oh yes, and you have to be accredited for literally everything before your account is approved.

Lack of communication

My account was put on hold without telling me. It took 5 days to find out why. I uploaded the required documents and had to wait 2 days for them to be approved. Now despite my account being approved I still can't book any shifts. I requested about 15 days work from end of September to October. They are all still waiting for confirmation. They wait until the afternoon before the requested shifts before declining my application. I messaged asking why this is happening but no response

Works very professionally for the professional.

Completely transparent, efficient, easy-to-use App (once everything or uploaded of course) fast payments and instant bookings. Therefore, no ambiguity or stress involved which was the case pre-Locate a Locum. Everything is always all above board.

Thank you for being there. Takes away so much of the hassle and worry of bookings.

Would recommend to any pharmacist.

Poor customer service - very little care

Moved to Northern Ireland with my 2 childrenin may - locum work looking plentiful with a promise of a 2 weeks turn around - 5 weeks later my DBS come through let’s get started missed out on a few weeks of work (300/£day) but couldn’t be helped .

WRONG - after paying for a DBS check I was advised incorrectly and actually need a NI POLiCE for which I’ve paid again and it’s now almost August - with no signs of completion - almost 3 months where I should of been earning - fortunately I’ve managed to find a few days here and there to cover my mortgage - but yeah poor customer service and it seems they aren’t bothered that they’ve left us out of pocket .
Unfortunately will have to persist with them it seems but don’t assume they know what they are doing and fact check any correspondence with them .

Booking is usually quite simple especially with companies that confirm straight away on odd occasion the app can be a bit glitchy

Very poor compliance team

One week later and still haven’t bothered to review my documents to book shift. Apparently their compliance team doesn’t have a phone line (yes, no phone in 2025) but why did I expect anything less. Would be insane to rely on them for work.
