Hassle free claim process
I spoke to a number of colleagues at Columbus when I was making a claim for my cancelled holiday. Apart from the fact that the line from their end was not always clear, and I had to ask for the advisers to often repeat themselves, everyone I dealt with was helpful. This was the first time I have had to make a claim against travel insurance and Columbus made it more or less stress free experience.

I have been a customer of Columbus for…
I have been a customer of Columbus for several years and previously had no problems. However when I renewed my yearly travel insurance recently I had to use their new 'Portal' system which I duly did and paid. I requested my policy details be sent to me as previously - however never arrived and the 'Portal' is impossible to access - codes that don't work and then its blocked. Customer Services do not answer emails either. Very disappointed with this company! Avoid!

As for the difficulties you had with the portal, thank you for flagging that you had some issues accessing this. We will share your comments with our online team to see if they can replicate the problems you had to determine what needs to be done to avoid others having the same problem.

They refused to cover expenses due to a last minute flight cancellation by the airline during my last trip.
The policy wording is confusing and designed to make imposible any claim.
The only good thing is: They have now lost a frecuent client!

Based on the information shared though, it sounds like your circumstances would not be generally covered by most travel insurance policies. Travel insurers do not usually provide cover where the airline have cancelled your flight. They should refund all flight costs and may assist with any other irrecoverable costs.
