no follow through dont listen dont care…
no follow through dont listen dont care help is non existant calling is rediculous no answer complete lack of doctors the one doctor in puyallup is a joke made an appointment in federal way have to wait 6 weeks looking for another doctor
Extremely confusing and was ultimately…
Extremely confusing and was ultimately charged nearly $300 just to renew a prescription. Never, Never, Never again.
Ridiculously expensive
What One Medical is: an online system to manage your health records and schedule consultations with medical providers (mostly generalists), plus a network of offices. Good first line of defense for medical problems. No specialists.
What your membership (e.g. through Amazon/Prime) gets you: access to this system. No services are included.
The costs are RIDICULOUS: for a 15-minute call to authorize the refill for a prescription, One Medical,
- billed me $549.00
- "adjusted" (whatever that means) $164.70
- left me to pay $384.30
If you have insurance that covers One Medical, it's a useful concierge medicine service for simple medical needs.
If you don't have insurance, it's literally cheaper to fly to Mexico and get your prescription meds and fly back (though don't do that...) than to use One Medical AND pay for the medication.
Crappy Healthcare Model
Peakmed in CO was bought out by One Medical in January 2024. Since the buy out, appts keep getting rescheduled; availability of providers is lacking, overall communication with patients has gone downhill and the providers are clearly unhappy. It’s sad to see what was a great healthcare design model get utterly trashed in less than 6 months. Amazon has found a way to create a Temu (crappy cheap) version of healthcare and harm even more consumers.
returned to learn it's not the same
I was a customer long time ago and recently returned. The pricing is crazy now. I am getting similar numbers as everybody else. Even with medical insurance I might not be able to afford medical visits.
But this just drive me up the wall. All year I've been paying my bills when I get them. This week I see I owe them money for collections. Collections fee on what? shouldn't I have a bill also that needs to be collected also in order to have a collection fee? The collections fee is from 2018 and all year 2024 I have not seen this. where did this miracle collection fees come from? oh and on top of it, trying to call to pay was a joke also. Hold time is 2 minutes, that was 5 minutes ago. hold time is 1 minute... 5 minutes after and I get a message to leave a voice message.
This is sad to pay a premium to get better service only for it to fail so miserably.
It was 4-5 Stars before Amazon
It was 4-5 Stars before Amazon. I had hoped it would stay a comfortable comforting place to get health care. They used to give standard 30 minute appointments. I love going to Nurse Practitioners so I am giving them 3 stars because they have or had lots of NP’s. I am not one though I have nurses in my family, and NP’s are trained more to help chronic and non emergency appointments.
However NP’s are being pushed out by PA’s who are trained by MD’s (esp for ER & OR), and as abrupt as MD’s while not as people skilled & experienced as NP’s… or even MD’s. PA’s are actually even less compassionate than MD’s in my experience. Every single one I have gone to - so I avoid them like the plague uh like they were … scrooges? Dangerous? Walking automatons? Can you tell I hate PA’s?
Something wrong with me having to work around that to get health care !
NP’s are more holistic and patient. 90% of the time I have great appointments with them, get what I need and not feel dehumanized. They have been with people in different ways than PA’s ever could as former RN’s/LVN’s. I hope Amazon doesn’t let NP’s go. After all having NP’s are the reason I joined One Medical.
No problems with my insurance so far.
Like the virtual access almost any time available.
App is pretty good.
Since Amazon took over another thing happened:
I wasn’t able to leave in time to get there with all the traffic so I asked 30 minutes ahead of time for a virtual appointment which should be a no brainer. The customer service guy stayed on the phone with me for 45 minutes while trying to reach their office where No One (!) was answering the phone. wth this is like so unethical not to have someone at the desk and answering the phones. Wasn’t charged for the appointment (so far!). They lost money by me not being able to do it on their app, though they may have updated this I hope.
Sometimes in California the people who call have bad accents. One called a while back to say they would not do a virtual with me that I had scheduled that minute. She told me to come at x time as they re-booked me then. This is without asking first. OK so maybe in this person’s world, it is ok to command a patient to do x. She could have asked: “will that work for you?” or “would you be available then?” Then the guy/hc provider, i was supposed to have an appointment with calls 15 minutes later, and denies he told her to say that!
I get on to start the appointment 15 m into a 20 m (or 20 into an 25?) against my better judgement but I did need to ask if I could get this test before the in person appointment.
This Dr P I had a virtual appointment which had been derailed wasn’t too people skilled and would barely let me get a word in and wasn’t listening to me. But now that I think about it he probably called after I complained just to say to his manager he tried to meet with me. I don’t think he had any intention of helping me - maybe even getting some free time to read or play a computer game instead.
He did say that the medical assistant was in his office and was not in India or elsewhere which was reassuring that my medical info had not been sent to a foreign country and back which might happen with Amazon in charge. Banks are doing it - it is an unfortunate thing. I hung up on him when he abruptly with an impatient unkind tone asked do you wan to tell me what is going on with your health? (I thought: No I can’t believe you are asking with 2 m left to the appointment and with such negativity. Is this how you build rapport? Trust? ).
Reading about how they use untrained people or people who are put into their positions with minimal training is becoming more obvious. Does Amazon think they can treat medical offices like package centers?
I guess I need to find other health care providers - oh well. American health care system leaves something to be desired even before it was Amazon-ed!
I was an employee of One Medical. The dirty truth!
I was an employee of One Medical for 1.5 yrs before Amazon. The only thing One Medical cares about is the all mighty dollar. They do not care about the patients, or employees. Training is a joke. One week and on the floor you go. No Medical experience needed. Eternal Commutation... well lets say the left hand has no idea what the right hand is doing. As a former employee I would not recommend One Medical at all. Everything from over charging, charging for unnecessary test, requiring pt to schedule an appointment for routine meds, billing coding errors, insurance issues, all the best PCPs leaving, not being able to schedule appts for months out due to not enough staff to handle the volume. Insurance companies ie BC/BS, Cigna, UHC, all the large companies are not renewing their contracts. This is not a medical company, it is a write off for Amazon.
$675.00 for a new patient telehealth…
$675.00 for a new patient telehealth appointment to get a prescription refilled. The appointment took approximately 5 minutes to discuss needs.
Low membership is just trick. There is no savings here.
I had high hopes this would be an amazing option for healthcare for myself, family, and business.
Similar to other reviews
Similar to other reviews - since Amazon took over, One Medical feels like a scam. Every prescription generates a generic response before we fill this again, you need to schedule with your Dr. So 500 to fill standard blood pressure medicine. This has happened three times for my last three prescriptions, and I do my annual physical.
I was a patient of the original One Medical Office, at least 15 years, it is disappointing that what was once a patient friendly, semi-preimum experience has turned into this.
I didn't receive service but received a bill.
I didn't receive services from this company but I got a bill for 190$. I received an email that I'm able to check my moles for free. After clicking on this email I got a big button to schedule a call. No information that I will pay 190$ was provided. That working exactly same way - you got email because they obtain my information from employer (and employer pay for this subscription as benefit option), then you click on button where it says to schedule a call, then on this call which last 4 minutes they say "We can check your moles only in our office - you wanna schedule?". Then you got a bill for 190$. From my point of view this is total scum scheme. Because all this flow to make this call happened without real awareness that I will pay something (even if it was somehow hidden with tiny little text which says you will pay for it) I didn't get exact amount I will pay, subtotal or anything that might make me think that I will pay. And after that they wasn't able to provide me consultation about moles, which they advertised in their email (screenshot attached), because it's impossible to make it online. I didn’t get to their office and didn’t schedule this in person appointment. How they might think after all of that that I need to pay anything for that? That’s just not right from all points of view. Now they are trying to collect this payment using debt collector company Frost-Arnett. I was talking with regional manager Brianna and she said me something like we can provide you a plan, I said okay If you wan't me to pay for nothing - I will let people know about this scum scheme. Totally insane company and manager.
I feel scammed
I had a lingering cough for a couple weeks but otherwise felt fine and just wanted a second opinion so I went in for a check. I had already taken a COVID test prior to the appointment that morning and really felt completely fine despite the cough. I tell doctor New Latthivongskorn and the front desk that I've already taken a COVID test that morning and it was negative but he insisted that I still test despite knowing that information and that it wasn't a preventative test so wouldn't be covered by insurance. He didn't even try to warn me and urged me to take it as if I'd be crazy not to. The simple COVID test cost me $94 which of course was negative. Aside from asking to take some other tests which I thankfully managed to avoid, that was all he did. I was actually blown away with how little of his medical knowledge he used. It's actually quite eye opening to know that doctors and institutions like this exist.
Ps. I have decent $700 per month health insurance and this was not covered so he must have known what he was doing. Be careful out there.
Since Amazon took over
Since Amazon took over one medical, it's the worst ever service. It was wonderful before. I will be leaving asap. Too bad you ruined a good thing.
Trash since getting eaten by Amazon.
Trash since getting eaten by Amazon.
I was with One Medical in 2019 before my supported insurance became unavailable to me. It was great; everything was really easy, I had a dedicated team of people who managed my stuff and getting questions answered was a snap.
Since getting absorbed by Amazon and thusly enshitefied, that last feature has totally disappeared, and so far it doesn't feel like they really know what they're doing. My one visit, while attentive in person, still felt a little rushed and the sense that there's patient, available support has totally vanished. More importantly, the billed the wrong insurance company (that I haven't been with in nearly five years) and when I called to correct the issue & ask how to be sure it won't happen again, the guy on the phone basically said there's nothing he can do but correct it now. Fast forward to today when I've gotten a bill due reminder and called back, and I'm again told that there's nothing they can do about the automated notifications.
Essentially, while more Panera rather than Taco Bell, this has become fast food medical care.
Don't expect a helpful back end, any feeling of personal care or attention, or any other praises that predate their selling out to Amazon.
Don't review ur labs and charge you just to tell you that
The "doctors", if your lucky to get one as most likely youll get a NP, will ask you to go to specialists and get tests done. They won't review the results and when you ask for a refill on meds relating to those results they will force you to have a doctor appointment and will charge you a doctor visit you to tell you that they need to review your labs. And i paid a premium for that too.
Been a customer for a decade too. Seriously go get a real doctor. They won't try and squeeze you and they wont changes every 2 or 3 years. I shouldve known better when they couldn't keep their own doctors
This is not a full-service facility
This is not a full-service facility. When you book an appointment and bother to indicate that you want an X-ray, they do not tell you that they do not offer X-Ray services. But even more important, over 3 years, my personal care physician has left One Medical. All they seem to have now are nurse practitioners near me. I just cancelled, but am stuck with my membership until January next year.
My complaint is about one…One Medical-Seniors
My complaint is about one medical-seniors. I have been going to the bell rd/43rd Ave clinic for several years. Actually, I started out at a different location. There I had blood work done there and it took me almost 2 weeks to get results. I called the several times and was told the results were in, but I had to wait for the doctor. Finally, I had enough and asked for the manager, then I complained about the doc and all. After that, amazingly she found time to call me. Nice. Then about a week or so later, I got a call from them telling me that (get this) they had too many patients and had to move some to other clinic. So I got moved to this 43rd Ave clinic. Fine, I moved, guess I'm a troublemaker for wanting my blood results. Anyway, at that time appts were an hour long. It was nice not to get rushed-now it's half hour. Ok I can live with that. But now, after calling the call center, when I need it most, I find out they no longer offer rides to medical services. THIS is why they no longer are a clinic for seniors. Some seniors don't drive, some don't have anyone to take them places, I have used the service when my car broke down. I'm sure some people may have taken advantage of the service, I get it, but why not offer like 8 rides per year? Amazon cut everyone off with no notice. This was a very important perk that they just thoughtlessly did away with. Probably wasn't that hard of a choice--seniors or money. Guess which one won??? Also, I suffer from depression. Losing two members of my family put me in a deep depression. I felt like I had no one. IORA offered me help. The therapist I saw was really helpful, then she left. I had to start over with a behavioral therapist who was awful and didn't want to help me.(She kept mentioning other places I should check out). Then she left (laid off?) anyway I had to start seeing someone else. I've seen him three-four times online. Now he tells me that I can only see him for half an hour every two weeks!!! This is not how you help someone who can barely get out of bed some days!!! DO NOT COME HERE....there are better places than this and I'm done.
The app is fine sometimes -- everything else sucks
The app is fine, but getting help from an actual person is non-existent. Completely impersonal. Been a member for 8 years, because I liked my doctor who had a lot of experience BEFORE one medical. She retired, and now have I been bounced around between randos who won't call you back. They repeatedly screw up pharmacy refills, and I have been turned away by desk staff who can't interpret my doctor's lab orders. They can't even get in touch with my doctor while i'm there. That doctor left anyway.
Very expensive and no longer good service - not worth it
One Medical charged me $549 for a 10-minute phone call with a PA who prescribed a generic antibiotic for a sinus infection... literally 10 minutes!!! That is a rate of over $3000/hour.
They refused to recognize how ridiculous that charge was and refund it -- customer service is terrible, just boilerplate responses. Clearly Amazon has crushed whatever was once good about this company. I used to find it convenient and tech-forward -- in the last year I've seen the service decrease (poor hours, poor provider availability) and the charges like this one pop up. This is the end (of the begining) of getting healthcare through Amazon.
Look at Reddit
Look at Reddit. This is an AMAZON owned business, to make money off of the system provided with Covid to provide virtual care and insure providers are compensated. HORRIBLE service, no communication. Do NOT recommend. Partner and I both left 2 different offices. We tried them for 2 years, 2 different sites. All lousy care. No commitment.
disappointing
At first you think it's easier. Great, you only wait 5 minutes, you use the app to schedule an appointment. But all of the impersonal corporate things about it really made me think good god why didn't I find a nice family practice?
They cancel things, the HR people are really annoying to talk to, and they dupe you by saying you can do free video consultations but it's not the same thing as a virtual visit… I can't remember the two different things names' but one is like zooming with the person you'd see except you're home and you pay a copay for that, and that's not the same as the one that is free! so that is annoying…
overall, once the shine wears off the fancy lobby you start to think, man this is kind of a soulless place and if your experience booking something on the app just works, then it can be positive, but if anything deviates (like if they reschedule you randomly or there's a billing issue or whatever), it's like going to the end of the TV set and seeing the cheap cardboard and stuff behind the glittery set dressing…
I had some positive doctor experiences and some totally perfunctory not great ones… I scheduled a doctor's appointment at least 3 months out, and then now two weeks beforehand they just emailed to drop me … very annoying
