This service used to be stellar

This service used to be stellar. It has just proceeded to get worse and worse. If I want anything but basic lab work or advice, I now have to call an unaffiliated specialist of varying quality. Not really worth it as a one stop shop anymore. Seems convenient if you have money to burn.

Cancelled my membership

What once was convenience has now become the most annoying online medical platform. Why would I pay for something that wouldn’t do a simple refill. Literally makes you fill out a book just to say the can’t do a minor refill that any doctor would fill. It’s ridiculous, waste of time and money. Just cancelled my membership. Was really helpful like 2 years ago. Completely changed.

Inflated Billing and Zero Accountability – Avoid One Medical

I had a brief 10-minute Zoom visit at One Medical's Dublin, CA location on June 25, 2025, for a low-to-moderate complexity issue (common cold). I expected charges aligned with their publicly advertised cash rates of $99-$149 for standard visits. Instead, they billed me $549, adjusted it slightly to a $457.09 balance, and ignored multiple emails from me where I pointed out the overcharge, lack of advance notice/consent under the No Surprises Act, and inconsistencies with their own pricing.
Despite my request for a re-bill at the appropriate rate or further documentation, One Medical never responded—not even an acknowledgment. Months later, without resolution, they escalated the unpaid balance to a debt collector (Frost-Arnett), potentially harming my credit over a disputed amount. This feels like predatory billing practices, especially for a company that markets itself as patient-friendly and transparent.
One Medical's lack of response and aggressive collections tactics show a complete disregard for fair practices. Save yourself the hassle—look elsewhere for primary care.

Horrible experience!!

Horrible experience!! Got a bill for $772 for a video visit of 10-15 mins. Called customer service and they insisted that amount was reasonable. Honestly, the worst experience I have ever had.

Worser than Pathetic!

Their service quality is extremely poor—effectively non-existent—and it reflects badly on the Amazon brand. Amazon should take decisive action and overhaul One Medical’s services as the current experience is unacceptable.

No meaningful resolution is ever provided under the standard subscription. For nearly every issue, customers are redirected to primary care services that are not included in their subscription & cost EXTRA.

This feels misleading and fundamentally inconsistent with how the service is marketed.

High Fees, No Actionable Care

I had an extremely poor experience with One Medical. I paid $289 for a short video visit where the provider explicitly stated they could not help over zoom, provided no prescription, no new treatment plan, and no actionable guidance beyond telling me to continue what I was already doing and schedule an in-person visit.

Despite repeated follow-ups, I was met with vague responses, promises of callbacks that never happened, and no meaningful attempt to resolve the issue. The billing dispute process was just as frustrating as the visit itself.

Charging a full visit fee for an appointment that delivers no medical care or value does not align with patient-centered care. Between the quality of care and the customer service experience, I’ve lost confidence in the platform and will not recommend One Medical at all.

Avoid at all costs; Don't be fooled by the Amazon branding.

To summarize:

1. I was already happy with my existing medical coverage in Florida; I only joined One Medical because of its associated Amazon branding. As a happy Amazon customer of many years, continually impressed with its exceptional customer support, I wanted to give One Medical a try in support of the Amazon brand and its mission to help improve primary care. I never would have joined One Medical had the "Amazon" name not been attached to it.

2. Prior to joining One Medical, I verified with the One Medical sales rep that my medical insurance, AvMed Entrust, was accepted.

3. Furthermore, the One Medical website specifically listed "AvMed Entrust" as an accepted insurance plan.

4. Even though One Medical bills by group, not specific physician, I proactively chose a PCP within One Medical that was showing as 'In-Network' on the AvMed website, out of an abundance of caution.

5. Mythili Penugonda, MD, an available One Medical provider, was showing as "in-network" on the AvMed website.

6. Despite joining One Medical in October with available appointments that same month, I proactively waited on scheduling my virtual visit until November to ensure that Dr. Penugonda would be my AvMed PCP of record effective 01 November.

7. Days prior to my virtual visit, I uploaded my AvMed Entrust insurance card to my One Medical profile and was informed that I had a $100 copay.

8. On 03 November 2025, Dr. Penugonda (an internal medicine physician) and I had an approximately 15- to 20-minute virtual/remote visit via Zoom. It was just a conversation, and no procedures were performed (virtual appt).

9. The $100 copay was paid promptly after my initial virtual visit with Dr. Mythili Penugonda on 03 November 2025.

10. After the visit was completed and my copay was made, I was then told by both One Medical and AvMed that the visit was "Out of Network."

11. There is nothing more I could have reasonably done as a consumer to ensure that the visit was in-network.

12. I would never knowingly see an out-of-network physician, especially since I have insurance and can walk down the road to my prior PCP, Dr. Bharath Radhakrishna, MD, at very low cost.

13. Images in support of the statements made herein were all provided within my One Medical message portal.

14. One Medical is pursuing an additional $204 from me, which I will never pay.

15. I am now in the process of reaching out to Amazon corporate for resolution. If unsuccessful, I will cancel my prime membership.

The worst experience i have ever had in…

The worst experience i have ever had in my life, and i never set foot in the door. They set me up with 3 different docs, and 2 different appt times, they canceled all 3, and said they set me up with a new one, and cancelled 2 hrs before that appt. And then asked me if i wanted to reschedule. It was all on purpose. I think you can figure it out.

One Medical double-charged me for the…

One Medical double-charged me for the same month (1/5 and 1/18), activated my account, let me renew prescriptions that same night, and then shut my membership off anyway. When I tried to fix it, support stonewalled me, gave contradictory explanations, and kept blaming Amazon while Amazon blamed them.

The worst part is they repeatedly hid behind “HIPAA” to avoid answering in writing, even though I initiated the messages and the issue was strictly about billing and account status, not medical details. That’s not how HIPAA works.

After weeks, no one took responsibility. Just blame-shifting, excuses, misinformation, and a broken Amazon integration they refuse to fix. Easily one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I’ve had. Be careful if you sign up through Amazon, the system doesn’t work, and support won’t help you.

Misleading - resulting in a big bill

I joined last September to use the travel medicine service which, at the time, was clearly shown as being inclusive with membership. Short video consult with a provider and a simple prescription for anti-malarial and altitude sickness tablets - i'd done all the work to complete the travel schedule prior to the consultation. then the surprise bill for $340! apparently i had a scheduled moderate to high complexity consultation that my insurance will not cover. this is misleading price gouging

Good Service Turned To Garbage

Used them 10 years ago - amazing on time and caring. Then amazon bought them. Run away. Do not use this service. Doctor no shows my appointment and they bill you anyway. This company is seriously messed up now. Do not use them.

Firing One Medical after over six years as a patient.

I will be firing Eliza Singer at the San Rafael Office after three to four years with her as a PCP and I will be firing One Medical after over six years.

The icing on the cake with Eliza Singer whose formal name may be Nancy was when she wouldn't fill a prescription of a medicine I have been on a number of years, and this medicine works for me.

She referred me to a specialist and without my permission sent a referral that was worded in a way I didn't like to the specialist's office.

She didn't feel like she could manage the medicine. That may be the case.

She can be very bratty and immature.

Once she did show good judgement with the blood pressure pill and once, she seemed confused on which orthopedist office I was referred to.

Eliza seems to like to make referrals but is not good at it. Once she referred me to a specialist and after Googling, I determined I did not want to see that specialist at all.

Another time I asked for a referral and told her the locations that worked, and she gave me two names that were in a location that didn't work. And she gave me one name of someone inexperienced who I did not feel comfortable seeing.

Once I made an appointment with Eliza two weeks in advance and she cancelled the appointment the night before. And I made an appointment with another provider and then I wanted a follow-up appointment and Eliza scolded me that I had already had an appointment about that health issue.

Eliza has taken several leaves the last couple years including a maternity leave, a sabbatical, and probably others. That is too much time off. One Medical should curtail her time off.

Looking at One Medical's website on my list of medicines there is a medicine I took briefly a year or so ago and have not taken since. And there is an error on my secondary insurance.

There was an error on my billing a year ago and I paid too much in co-pay. I talked to a billing supervisor, and I never received the refund.

A number of times I have had bad experiences with admin staff over the phone. And I try not call the office as the wait time can be forty-five minutes or longer at least a couple years ago it was like that.

When I have needed an appointment soon and there is a several week wait to see Eliza, I had two good providers and a number who were not up to par.

Before Eliza I saw a nurse practitioner named Amy Dibble a couple times before she left for other pursuits. She was totally useless.

I saw a woman MD at the San Rafael office who had good reviews, but was fairly nasty and after that I wasn't able to make an appointment with her on the App.

So, Eliza and One Medical are not good enough for the reasons listed above and I will go elsewhere, and I recommend you go elsewhere also.

Horrible service designed to maximize billing

Horrible horrible service intended to squeeze every dollar out of patients. I went for a routine physical, which is covered by insurance. After getting labwork done (which i paid for separately), the doctor suggested we speak on the phone to discuss the labwork. I was then charged $200 for that 5 minute phone call, which should have been included in my physical. She also referred my to see 3 specialists. One of those specialists told me it made no sense that she had referred me to him, but i still had to pay for his time, which was $450. So a routine physical, which is supposed to be free, cost me almost $700 due to One Medical clearly training its doctors to try to squeeze dollars out of pateints.

I signed up last year

I signed up last year, as I am generally happy with most Amazon services. However, my experience with Amazon One Medical and Amazon Pharmacy was not great. I met with my doctor in person a few times and had a couple of virtual calls. The Doctor (a PA) was very nice, and I liked her. She wasn't very thorough IMO, and missed some opportunities for important blood testing/screening to help me monitor any progress I was making. Anyway, when Amazon stopped taking insurance - without warning, that was a killer. Their pharmacy is non-communicative and probably the worst pharmacy I've ever dealt with.

One Medical should be absolutely ashamed of themselves

I have a 77-year-old mother who was being really well taken care of at an Iora clinic in Washington state prior to them being taken over by One Medical. She was in fantastic condition, fantastic spirits. Her appointments were easy to get to. She was able to reach her doctors and always get her medications. As soon as One Medical took over, EVERYTHING fell apart. It’s impossible to reach anyone let alone your doctor or anyone familiar with your health, there’s no way to reach any of the offices or even anyone in the state. We’ve had multiple medication emergencies where prescriptions weren’t called in and we weren’t able to get them filled. We’ve had referrals sent to the wrong locations and it’s an absolute nightmare for anyone to reach out for help. My mother can’t use an app or spend two hours on the phone pushing buttons trying to figure out how to talk to someone. Her mental and physical health have dropped exponentially. One Medical should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. We spent days trying to reach anyone to help. Get an appointment for mental health and trying to get prescriptions filled with no return phone calls and no return messages but now that she’s been in the hospital, we get three calls a day asking ridiculous risk assessment insurance questions for them to determine how much of a financial risk she is to them. It’s absolutely disgusting.

No real attention was given to a patient

I went to see a doctor at one medical. They did not do any vital signs check up, and was only prescribed an otc medicine. There is no breakdown on billing to explain the bill. I felt, like they just throw in a very high amount with no explanation, since I do not have insurance.

They advertise tretinoin for insurance…

They advertise tretinoin for insurance prices and out of pocket. However they refuse when you do the one-time consult to prescribe for a 30-day supply which most insurances will pay for. So you have to pay out of pocket or use your HSA for a 80-day minimum supply. They acted like insurance doesn't cover that but I have literally had my PCP order it and got it through insurance for $11.
