The person I spoke to was really helpful in explaining how pet insurance works and was able to bring the cost of my renewal down so it was more affordable.

Really disappointed with Perfect Pet. Following a live saving emergency operation they failed to pay for a list of elements because they exceeded the limit set by them. It must be lovely when you have the option to shop around different vets to find the cheapest price, but when your dog needs to be transferred to another vets after an operation that you weren’t expecting, you don’t have that opportunity. When questioned they come back and say maximums are set on industry standards, but I find it hard to believe that there are very many vets who would charge only £100 a day for hospitalisation. Would not recommend.

Polly was fantastic at handling my enquiry, and whilst a resolution could be not be done whilst on the call, she has taken on my query in order to get it resolved.

Polly was very nice and understanding about our pets needs, told me all i needed to know a out my policy.

I took out pet insurance expecting it to provide meaningful financial protection when my dog needed veterinary treatment. Unfortunately, my experience making a claim has been extremely disappointing.

My dog required treatment for a right front paw/leg problem, resulting in a veterinary bill of £989.07. Perfect Pet ultimately deducted £456.05, meaning that less than 54% of the bill was paid.

Some of the deductions may be permitted under the policy wording, but what I have found particularly frustrating is the number of restrictions and limitations that have been applied to what I understood to be veterinary treatment covered by the policy. This included deductions relating to anaesthesia, fluid therapy, pre-operative blood tests and medication costs.

I am now having to make a further claim because the problem subsequently recurred and required additional veterinary investigation and treatment. Rather than feeling reassured that I have insurance for my dog’s veterinary care, I am already worried about what further deductions Perfect Pet may make.

I appreciate that insurance policies contain exclusions and limits, but the experience has left me questioning the value of the cover I have been paying for. Finding out how much of a veterinary bill can potentially be excluded only after needing to make a claim is extremely frustrating.

I am currently challenging the first claim through Perfect Pet’s complaints process, so I will update this review once that process has concluded.

Based on my experience so far, I would urge anyone considering this insurance to read the policy wording extremely carefully and pay particular attention to the individual limits and exclusions within the veterinary fees section.

received their standard email regarding auto renewal of the dog insurance.
Sent an email to advise that I wished to cancel the auto renewal - I never auto renew.
Email reply saying I had to ring to cancel. Tried 3 times holding on for ages no reply.
as requested tried getting a cal back - no response or reply.
