I dont have much more to say about this company that hasn't already been said.

You simply cannot run a modern online business effectively without communicating with your customers.

Do not use this company at all. You place the order and low & behold they don’t have your items in stock and you are not informed of this.
After 10 days have gone by and you realize that you don’t have your order you try to call them over and over and never get your call answered!!! They I’ll not reply to any emails either. To add insult to injury they then send 1 part of your order, which is as much use as a chocolate tea pot. I had to stop my credit card to enable me to cancel the rest of the order. Very sad outcome for a birthday present as well.

Ordered a Wusthoff knife last week, and it came in 11 days. Don’t think many companies keep a stock of these. Exactly what I ordered at a very competitive price, plus free postage. I called Richmond twice while I was waiting for update on delivery, no answer both times, however the lady did return my call each time. I was called by the lady for a mandatory age check and when they received my knife to confirm delivery details. Knife was delivered as advised by DPD.

I wish I had read the reviews 2 weeks ago. Total waste of time, service is terrible, told lie after lie. I now have to cancel my orders and start again with another firm.

Looks like they have gone bust . No answer on the phone it just says call failed , no reply to e mails , no money out of my account went through when I tried to order a knife and put payment through although it allows the transaction and it says it is stock and ready for despatch . Utter shambles . Avoid at all costs .

Utter fraud! Worst service and a bunch of charlatans. I ordered a £72 knife which became rusty after one use! Send it back being to get a refund and never got my money back. It’s been a month. They don’t reply to emails and calls at all. Never felt so cheated in my life.

Ordered item 3.5 weeks ago. Emailed twice on where item was and no response.

Called and was told yesterday it still hadn't been shipped from manufacturer to them so was looking at at least another couple of weeks until delivery.

Requested order cancellation and refund, was told it would be done that afternoon and I would receive confirmation - still no confirmation. Will raise dispute with payment provider now to get money back. Avoid.

Very similar other reviews reviews. Ordered a product 30 days ago. Advised may be delayed for 10 days and called yesterday to ask for an update. Promised a call back with nothing and now can’t get through to the phone number. Feels like pricing items low to get purchase and then trying to stock. Fair business model but keep customers engaged.

Sadly 6 wks down the line (beginning May order - now 17th June)and no delivery (£60) which has left me out of pocket. Have chased and had to create PayPal resolution as seller just hasn’t responded. A real shame. If Richmond Cookshop could run themselves in a bit more organised way, it could be a good brand. Sadly, responding to orders and emails has gone amiss.

To give an honest review of this shop - the overall customer experience was awful. Communication is almost non existent, I had to phone up for an update every time. I bought a knife set (5 knives) and received 4 of them a week after I placed my order. The 5th knife took almost two months to arrive. Now saying that, it was the cheapest website selling these knives and the quality was fantastic, but some sort of warning that there could be a wait should be communicated before you place an order. Bottom line; cheapest place to buy nice knives, but at a risk of waiting a while. If you’re looking for an item to buy someone as a birthday/Christmas gift, probably not the site for you.

I think this is one of those online stores that offer a product at a certain price and then try to obtain it from another company cheaper, they don’t actually have it in stock. The confirmation email is very brief almost like a receipt. If they can’t get it you don’t seem to receive the item or get a refund.
Update May 21 - I received a call to say my items had been received and did I still want them. I did and I’ve now received them. Strangely once the item was received I was kept up to date via email. I wonder why that couldn’t happen to keep me informed in the first place. In fairness it doesn’t seem that I was charged until they were in stock. I have added a star for this.

I ordered a frying pan but put wrong delivery address. When I rang they were very helpful in rectifying the problem. The frying pan was delivered to me the next day

After waiting for over a month for knives, I asked (yet again) for an update on the order. No response to any of my emails and then out of the blue, a refund without explanation. Looking at other reviews, I would say this shop should be investigated.

I placed an order amounting to nearly £300. Initially Richmond Cookshop emailed to say there would be a short delay, which I was fine with as it was the holiday period, we are in the middle of a pandemic and the Brexit shipping debacle (all the stuff I ordered was Alessi, so EU company and thought there might be supply issues).

I waited over a month and neither received the order nor any further update. I emailed them. They never replied.

Two months passed since the order was placed, I tried calling their phone number. It doesn’t even ring properly, it’s as if the line has been disconnected. I have done some investigation online and it seems I am not alone in this experience. Covid and Brexit delays aside, any responsible company could at least update customers on what’s going on. This is an example of truly appalling customer service.

The order never arrived, so I was forced to file a dispute with PayPal. After some time and no response from Richmond Cookshop, I finally received a confirmation that PayPal would refund my money (which I should receive in coming days).

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY - AND IF YOU DO, MAKE SURE TO DO SO VIA CREDIT CARD OR PAYPAL TO ENSURE YOU CAN GET YOUR MONEY BACK. I am considering reporting them to the police.

Horrendous customer service. Ordered an Alessi Salif, chased them 3 times about my order, it's been over a month now, no response....reporting this to my credit card company in case they try to charge me. Sounds like yet another fake shop.

I ordered a knife that was the wrong size. All that their 'contact at Richmond Cookshop' (a certain Viv) was initially interested in was pointing out my mistake. I returned the knife, and asked for it to be exchanged for the smaller one that I was looking for, with the remainder of almost £60 that had been subtracted from my account refunded.
Eventually, after we had discussed the matter by telephone, the refund took place. As an added bonus, Viv was able to identify the precise knife I had been looking for - for which I am extremely grateful.

Absolutely dreadful. They responded to my order - which was all I heard from them saying the item would be sent out max 5 - 10 days ahead. Nothing arrived. Not even an email or a text. The phone wasn't working when I tried to call. No response to emails. I have lost £129.

Hello? Anyone? Please?? Is anybody out there?!?!?

Awful, do not get back to emails or answer the phone. Sent a damaged product and will not get back to me about returns/refunds.

Do not use this company!!!

They're an actual shambles. If they are understaffed or having issues because of covid, they should stop taking orders.

Avoid! Ordered a set of pans 3 months ago. No response on email or phone. Currently going through the financial ombudsman to get a resolution.

I have had 2 knives from this company and they are very good. The first knife arrived in 4 days, that was the end of 2020, I then decided to order a matching carving knife and after a week with nothing I emailed and nothing, so I rang them and they were very helpful and within 3 days I had the knife, the problem was their supplier and Brexit so please don't blame the company, and you can get through to them, I rang 3 times in all and had no difficulty getting them. The lady explained why I had not got the knife, searched out when it would be with them and told me when I would receive it and it all happened as she said, so I am very pleased and the knife is lovely.
