I had a poor experience initially, having received a part shipment but with full billing, a long wait for my item(s), no proactive communication and difficulty getting hold of them to rectify the situation. However, when my wife did finally get hold of them they were very apologetic, explained the issues that they had been having and issued a refund for the unshipped item.

Our sense is that the problem we experienced was due to issues with upstream suppliers and them being somewhat overwhelmed with high demand and supply problems generally - possibly due in part to brexit? I'm interpolating so I may not be 100% correct but I sympathise nonetheless.

Having had a refund, when the item did come into stock, they called us, took payment and we received it next day. So I'm happy with the final outcome and think the originating issues were not of their making and what I experienced was a slightly overwhelmed small business. So in the end I got my stuff (and it's fantastic) I would shop with them again :-)

Fantastic service very helpful didn't even take my money until order was processed. They checked in stock first and sent next day via DPD great job

Disgusting service. I have sent numerous emails and no reply! I ordered a single blade 9 inch mezzaluna for over £40 and received a 4inch double blade mezzaluna. They have taken the money from my account for the larger mezzaluna.
This company is the pits I would recommend people to go somewhere else and give this site a very wide berth.

I have seen the bad reviews but i found them to be very helpful. I ordered a carving set, which was lost in the post and they worked very hard indeed to get replacements to me in time for Christmas. I would use again

BEWARE. I placed an order over 1 month ago. I have chased several times and heard absolutely nothing. I think the site may be fraudulent.

Above and beyond
Less than 24 hours ago we had been looking for a particular pan but it was out of stock in most places. Richmond were a few pounds more than the cheapest online retailers but if they had it in stock we would be more than happy to pay the advertised price. I called to confirm that they did in fact have the item and then placed the order online. The item arrived half an hour ago in perfect condition. Thanks for your service 100% awarded.

ordered Alessi Pulcina espresso coffee maker arrived OK, but doesn't work on induction hob despite being advertised as induction friendly. sent for refund via recorded delivery no response and no refund, despite proof of delivery. No customer service and tel doesn't work. Avoid

BEWARE: The website may be fraudulent. I have placed an order in December. You will get a very cryptic confirmation. The money had been taken off my card but no delivery. The phone number provided doesn’t connect and emails don’t get a response.

I had seen a item (a saucepan) on another website which was £88 but was £99 on Richmond cookshop’s website. This other retailer due to the virus situation were not answering any phone calls as they had quite limited number of staff according to the recorded message on their phone.

Therefore as I wanted the item quickly, I thought I would ask Richmond if they would
Price match this other retailer. So I emailed Richmond on 8/1/21 asking them would they price match as well as giving them the link of the item from this other retailers website. As of today (15/1/21), Richmond have not replied to my email.

I also phoned Richmond on 11/1/21, a lady answered and I asked them do you price match? She said no, it’s as low as we can go. She asked for details of the item I wanted. I gave her the details she said she would have to check if the item was in stock. She said she would either phone me later in the afternoon or the next day in the morning. It is now 15/1/21 and I have never been called back by Richmond.

After searching online on 13/1/21, I came across another retailer, who are just a small local family run business. So I emailed them with details of the item I wanted and they confirmed that they would price match, even though the item I wanted was out of stock.

Shocking that in the world of retail in 2021, Richmond refuse to price match, when many other retailers do. Richmond just want to over charge. Together with no reply to a email after a week and failing to telephone you when they say, tells you what you need to about Richmond Cookshop.

Ordered a knife set from this company and it took a few days longer to arrive than expected.However apart from this,communication,price and delivery were excellent.

I’ve ordered an expensive cutlery set and was really worried after I’ve read all the negative reviews. After calling them the next day I found out that my set wasn’t available right now, was ordered and due to arrive in 10 days . The money hasn’t been taken out of my bank account until my order was sent my way. Overall a little long but I received it in the end. Not much communication though, about your order progress. Which is disappointing when you paid quite a bit of money.

Unfortunately this company can't be trusted. I ordered some goods and 8 weeks later they still hadn't arrived. When I emailed to ask when the goods would be despatched there was no response. It was only when I raised the matter with PayPal that I received a message from the company stating that the goods were on their way.

I have ordered a pan and a cooler from Richmond almost two month ago but I do not receive any goods and the company doesn't reply on any e-mails. I can not recommend this dealer. You will pay without receiving any goods and the company will consequently ignore you.

Ordered an Alessi bowl it arrived when Viv said it would, great service and good customer care. I also read previous reviews and was worried about ordering. No problems at all.

I ordered a knife set on Sunday evening then read reviews. Was a bit concerned. I rang them on Tuesday morning and was assured that my order would arrive today. It has and I am thrilled with it. Fabulous service. I simply cannot understand negative reviews on their site. I can 100% recommend Richmond Cookshop

I don’t normally do reviews but I ordered a Chefs Choice 1520 electric knife sharpener at a competitive price. I was concerned about delivery in light of poor reviews for this company and it nearly put me off making my first purchase with them. However I ordered the sharpener on Monday pm and it was here Wednesday am. I had 5 emails along the way confirming order details and delivery. In my opinion this is top drawer service. The sharpener is fantastic and my Wusthof Ikon knives are now razor sharp.

Decent company. While communication could be a bit slicker, and processing could be a bit quicker, you need to bear in mind you're dealing with a small business, not Amazon's slick logistics machine and I found the owner to be lovely and very helpful when I phoned to follow up on my order. Would be happy to deal with them again.

Ordered and then saw the reviews . I contacted via email and got a call back within the hour. Absolutely no problems, ordered Wednesday and dpd delivered today( Friday) - allocated delivery slot as well so Knew when it was coming . Cannot fault anything and Viv was really friendly on the phone. Nothing but a really good experience. I don’t get the awful reviews tbH

If there was no star, that would be my selection.
Delivery took over 4 weeks without any updates and notifications until several follow up phone calls.
After many follow up phone calls, finally the wrong item was sent to me, which I had to arrange and exchanged with another buyer who received my paid item.
Arranging for a refund took 3 attempts and follow ups.
After posting back the item for a full refund, waited 3 weeks for a refund but nothing came. Only after calling to chase for a refund, was it made.
Altogether wasted 2+ months for a simple order. Reverted back to Amazon.
Not worth the hassle
