Went in Boston store Thursday evening welcomed by Chris, help me and my wife choose a new mattress. Chris was superb, our son was with us and has additional needs Chris was incredibly friendly and talked to him helping him feel involved, the whole time also helping us pick the right mattress for us, not pushy in the slightest just helpful and honest, us being us spilt between two so was back and forth laying on each. Come away ordering what we wanted. So a great experience massively helped by Chris 👍 to add to this we have used United carpets and beds for all the flooring throughout our house and always been super helpful and done a great job. We both highly recommend them all.

Carpet was brought by the carpet fitters, we knew there would be a very large waste piece and had plans to use it elsewhere.
On completion of the fitting there was hardly any waste left. We were told it was still at the shop.
I went in the next morning and the off cut was there but the manager told me it had to be taken by me in my car or it would cost £30 to deliver.?
Damn cheek as it should have been delivered by the fitters as we had paid for that piece of carpet.
Lost all trust in this company.

At the end of August, we visited the Cardiff branch to buy carpet for our lounge and stairs, as well as vinyl flooring. The shop manager gave us helpful advice and an initial quote. A visit was arranged for later that afternoon so more detailed measurements could be taken. We were then told there was “good news and good news”: the carpet and underlay would cost less because we needed less material. The original quote listed the underlay at £400, but the revised quote reduced it to £300. We had not planned to replace the underlay, as the existing underlay was less than ten years old and had only had single-person use. However, the lower price persuaded us to go ahead.
The carpets and vinyl flooring were fitted about a week later, and we were pleased with the overall finish and appearance. There is still some rippling in the carpets, but we have been told this should disappear as the carpet settles. We also had to pay an additional £40 because two doors needed trimming, which we had not anticipated.
Because we liked the vinyl flooring, we considered having it fitted in another room and reviewed the invoice more carefully. We were surprised to find that it was not fully costed, showing only a list of items and a final sum total. When we returned to the branch to ask for an itemised bill, we were given a handwritten list of costs and told we had been overcharged by £40, which was refunded. We also queried two beading strips that had been charged but were not needed. We were told this would be checked with the fitters and that someone would contact us, but no one did. Later, we noticed that the handwritten list appeared to show a £654 charge for underlay. When we returned to complain, we were told the list was wrong and that we had not been charged for the beading after all. Each time we questioned a charge, the figures seemed to be adjusted so that the total matched the amount we had already paid. This gave us the impression that the costs were being changed to justify the final charge. When we again asked about the original underlay quotes, the paperwork could not be found, just as it could not be found when we first went in to pay for the carpets. We have not received an update.
We like to see the good in people and can accept when human errors are made but would like transparency and candour when errors do occur. We cannot understand why in 2026 a major company like United carpets are still using pen, paper, and small calculators to not only complete invoices but to measure up as well. Why are they not using modern day technology to make life easier for their staff and customers? It would also reduce the risk of error, their carbon footprint and they would have a more effective filing system at the touch of a button.

Finally, life is too short to dwell on what we see as an unfair experience. When we next shop for carpets and vinyl flooring, which will be soon, we will make sure we leave with a fully itemised, costed invoice produced electronically.

Update in response to the reply from United Carpets. The store has not been in contact as we expected as the only contact we have is when we visit the store. We contacted United Carpets customer care as they advised in their response through their on-line portal with letter of complaint. No response or even an acknowledgement of complaint has been received to date 21/9/26. We are not at all surprised as previous customers have highlighted similar experiences. We still do not have an accurate itemised list and believe we have been overcharged around £300.

The Wheatley Doncaster branch is the only carpet shop we use because the staff, customer service and product ranges are so good. We recently needed carpet and bathroom flooring prior to selling a house so didn’t want to spend £££. We found a great selection of immediately available carpet on rolls and some vinyl flooring which arrived quickly when ordered. Jonathan was really helpful but also not at all pushy which we really appreciate - we’ve walked out of places that are too hard sell. The carpet fitter (sorry I didn’t ask his name) was meticulous and really nice to deal with. Highly recommend this store. Thank you

Unfortunately my experience with purchase of carpets at united carpets wasn’t great. At first everything was great, but when it came to actually fitting the carpets the surprise started arise. Lady tooked from us our own measurements, we discussed for over 40min at the store what we exactly need. We asked for bigger carpet to our living room just to have some extra, and still carpet was cut incorrectly. We asked for siedzę 4on 5m but we received 16m2.
To one of the bedrooms carpet was short 5cm, so we had to use the second carpet that was meant to go to bigger bedroom, and yet the bigger carpet wasn’t cut properly for bigger bedroom, as I did said to lady that we need carpet which is 5m wide not 4m. So we ended up with one spare carpet, as I had to spend extra money for another one to bigger bedroom. Even tho I did complain and at first I was told it is ok and I’ll be refunded £200 (we paid £260) then she changed her mind over the phone and said we CANT be refunded, because that’s what the agreement says.
When we were choosing carpets they have had end of one carpet, good quality great price. We asked for all of it, she said no problem, they will have enough, they will get it ready for us! Then again she changed her mind starting some excuses that she is not sure if they have enough etc etc. So we tooked more expensive one.

Even though she wrote down our measurements on her notes and on invoice there is strict note 4x5m. She calculated this as 16m2…!!! How?!
We asked for set of new gritters, and again she calculated how many we will need. So we ended up with full box of unused stuff which we paid for and now we can’t get our money back!
I do not recommend, if you don’t want to spend your money and throw them out to bin then do not use this company because there will be no help and refunds after all!

Such a great selection of carpets. Plenty to choose from. Prices were so competitive and we found exactly what we were looking for. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. Always come here for my carpets. They cannot be beat.
