My wife and I visited Zip Yard in Stockport Town Centre, on 21st August to have a pair of trousers shortened. The trousers were need for 23rd August.
Rajitha was very professional, friendly and accommodating and at first promised them to be ready for 22nd. However when she heard that we had made a special trip to visit the shop she spoke to the seamstress and arranged to have them ready within half an hour. They were in fact ready within 20 minutes and when my wife tried them on they had been altered perfectly.
We thought this was great customer service and we wholeheartedly recommend them and will use them in the future. Thank you.

I have used this service several times. The first time was altering a new pin stripe suit. The jacket and trousers needed altering. They made a brilliant job of it. I’ve been back today to pick up a pink jumper which needed a repair once again they have done a great job. Thank you zip yard.
I would recommend these ladies. Not only do they do a great job but their prices are extremely good too.

I brought in a pair of curtains to be shortened and when I collected them and bought them home I was shocked to discover that one of them was several centimeters shorter than the other. I brought them back to be repaired and when I went to collect them they had done an acceptable job of stitching back on the fabric they had cut off,in order to lengthen the curtain again. But I noticed that they hadn't bothered to adjust the lining so that both curtains matched. So I had to leave them to be adjusted again. When I went to collect them for the third time they had lengthened the lining but the hem of one lining was much wider than the other, and they had carelessly used white thread on green curtains. These flaws were less obvious so I took them home, but I shouldn't have had to pay €110 for such shoddy work. They came very close to destroying my carefully chosen curtains. The lady who served me was very apologetic but I will not be returning.

Zipyard Ranelagh, got a zip on a bag replaced, they sewed the handle back on backwards. Returned to have it repaired & when I picked it up there were numerous threads hanging out plus a hole of approx 1 cm length close to the handle. I had to return it for a second time to be amended. The quality control was shocking, especially considering the steep cost of replacing a zip. I wont be returning there again.

Brought a folkster dress to zip yard on St Anne's Street, dublin for my partner. Found the experience rushed. Needed the zip replaced as the dress wouldn't zip up for correctly, it would get snagged half way up on the transition from the bottom of the dress to the top. Collected the dress later and the zip hadn't been changed, as a matter of fact we're unsure if they carried out any work on it as the zip maintained the same problem as prior to giving it in. Terrible experience, would avoid. Bit late on the review as had forgotten about it but my partner didn't wear the dress for the wedding on the 31st Oct 2025 and got it altered elsewhere and the zip was fixed.

Ann Marie in athlone was brilliant, as are last minute for my hen. Literally the day before and got me all sorted. Everything done to perfection . 10/10 customer care

Not recommended. People here steal money. Happened twice with the dryer. One girl removed my stuff and used my 8 euros. Right now a man opened the dryer with my stuff and I have to run it again. 16 euros gone. I'll avoid the place if I can help it.

Extremely disappointed with my experience.

I brought in a formal asymmetrical dress for a very minor alteration to one side of the bust. I clearly explained multiple times what I wanted, but I felt I wasn’t listened to and was talked over.

After four visits, the dress is now completely unwearable. The zip is crooked, too much fabric was removed, and the fit is so tight I can’t lift my arm without worrying it will tear.

While I received a refund for the alterations, this doesn’t cover the fact that my €200 dress is now ruined and I have to replace it at short notice for a wedding.

The reception staff were lovely, but the alteration work itself and lack of attention to customer requests were extremely disappointing.

Yet another amazing alteration, I have been taking clothes to Warrington Zipyard for years. Always professional & extremely helpful. Would highly recommend

Terrible customer service from the owner and the company.

Repair carried out efficiently and ahead of the date scheduled

"I wanted to address a concern about the alterations. When I picked up my jeans, I was told that the instructions I gave were not passed on correctly to the seamstress by the receptionist. There was no loyalty to her staff colleague which is not a not sign about how the business is ran. The alterations don’t match what I had asked for, and the cost was three times what I would normally pay.

I brought a pair of leggings to ZipYard to have a seam repaired, as the original stitching had snapped. Before visiting, I called to confirm they had the correct machine to carry out this type of repair and was told they did.

When I dropped off the leggings, I explained that I expected the repair to be done as close as possible to the original stitching, which was a double-stitched seam for strength and durability.

Unfortunately, when I collected the leggings, I noticed that:
• The thread colour did not match the original (I was advised in advance that the colour might not be an exact match; however, the difference was significant, and the thread used also appeared much thinner than the original, which likely affected the durability of the repair)
• The repair was done with a single stitch instead of a double stitch, making it less secure

I hoped it would still hold, but after wearing them once to the gym, the seam split again immediately, before I even started exercising. This suggests the seam was not reinforced properly and did not have enough stitching to close and secure the fabric gap.

Overall, I was disappointed with the quality of the repair, especially after specifically checking in advance that the job could be done correctly.

Due to the high cost and the poor durability of the repair, I will not be returning.

Fumanda in the Ranelagh did a super job on my dress. I had tried three other seamstresses to rework the top of a dress without success. Fumanda succeeded- a very skilled seamstress

Zip Yard Carlow.. I was greeted by a very pleasant, and cheery lady, who gave me great advice on how to alter my coat. She was very engaging in conversation, and I asked her name. Denise was very helpful, and it was a pleasure to be served by her. Hope my coat turns out as good..😊

Absolutely terrible service ..... staff member was very rude from the moment we entered.
We went in asking for two garments to be altered and then seen multiple signs on windows advertising 3 FOR 2 alterations . When we enquired about the offer , the woman very rudely said "that is for 3 items not 2!" And that it was for one customer , when we said we had a third item that we could do with being altered , she again very rudely said "its for one paying customer , not 3 separate customers " even after explaining one person would be paying for the whole purchase . She had absolutely zero interest in helping us or even explaining the offer to us . Even before enquiring about the offer , when asking about getting sleeves added to a dress , she was extremely unhelpful , rude and seemed completely uninterested in her work .
We then went to alterx, near the ashe hotel . The customer service and level of expertise were second to none .
Avoid zip yard at all Costs!!!

The lady who we brought two dresses into get altered we had another dress at home and asked politely if we could get that one altered aswell since they had a sign on the window saying 3for2 on all alterations, but the lady straight away was saying no we are three different customers even though just two of my friends came in with me and I was paying for all of the alterations, she then proceeded to give out to us saying we are wrong and then proceeded to kick us out of her store we were left gobsmacked when all we wanted was wedding dresses altered. Would never recommended this place to anyone very rude staff

Customer service in the Tralee store was absolutely terrible from the moment we walked in the door we were greeted by a person automatically downgrading us and looking down on us for no reason what so ever .. as we continued in there to ask for what we wanted done we were treated so badly and disrespected so much the person was horrible to us and shouldn’t be allowed to deal with customers in a customer facing job absolutely atrocious behaviour
