2 1/2 hours to get from Funchal airport exit to actually sitting in the car. Two main problems.... the rental is subcontracted to another company which we did not know. So one hour wasted waiting for a mini bus (among dozens of other hire companies) that ee did not recognise as ours. Then the transfer and over an hour's queue to actually get the car (even though we had pre checked in. When we got it the car was actually OK.

Extremely disappointing experience with Jet2CarHire / CarTrawler and U-SAVE Catania Airport.
We fully prepaid the vehicle and insurance through Jet2CarHire. Before pickup, Jet2CarHire explicitly stated by email that if the main driver did not have a credit card, the lead driver could be changed to another traveller with a valid credit card.
However, when we arrived at the desk, the staff refused to help us change the driver and repeatedly claimed that “nothing could be done”. Strangely, the only thing they *could* do was suddenly “solve the issue” if we agreed to purchase an additional insurance package costing more than EUR300.
We were placed under constant pressure to buy expensive extra insurance despite already having insurance included through Jet2CarHire.
No genuine assistance was provided. No practical way to amend the booking existed online. We were ultimately refused the vehicle and forced to rent another car elsewhere during our holiday.
Even more concerning, after checking recent reviews, I discovered multiple customers describing almost identical experiences at this location within the past few weeks. This does not feel like an isolated incident, but rather a very troubling pattern of aggressive insurance upselling and refusal tactics.
Very disappointing customer experience and absolutely not what we expected from a company partnered with Jet2.

I have to agree with a lot that other people say. We went through the Jet2 car hire because we thought the process would make sense as the holiday was booked with them. We chose a particular firm based on the deposit that was required and we don't have high credit card limits as we don't need them. The original car hire that came with the holiday we canncelled as the car company wanted £1800 deposit on pick up. We choose another company in Split, which advertised £800 deposit on the Jet2 car hire site. When we got here yesterday this had increased to £1100. We needed the extra £300 on the credit card as reserve, not for the care hire. So we had to pay an extra £140 for THEIR separate insurance to reduced the deposit down to £800 again.
Its an absolute swindle but when you have a two year old and another 2.5 hour drive to your resort from the airport you end up paying.
There's no real moral in the tale here- The local car hire firm runs under 3 names so you've no idea who you are booking with either- Sicily By Car (even though were in Croatia- dont' ask) Nova Cars or Direct Cars.

I picked Enterprise
The pick-up and drop-off process was very straightforward. However, there are a few things to be aware of in advance.
We went to the desk in the airport as instructed in the email. Just a note: check your paperwork. They’ll take a hefty retainer on your card until 24 hours after you drop off. Make sure you have enough available in case you run short.
The paperwork was brief because we’d already checked in online and downloaded our passport and driver’s licence. Although we’d paid extra for waiver insurance in Uk, the car hire company tried to sell us other bits and bobs, claiming they were necessary. I declined.
We were directed to collect the vehicle opposite the arrivals gate at the airport. For those with mobility problems, there’s a ramp up to the enterprise hut, but you’ll need to drag your case up a steep metal ramp. It was quite slippery in the heat.
We were handed our keys and walked around the car. The process was very straightforward.
We dropped the car off without any problems and, as mentioned, the retainer amount was refunded to our card.
Overall, it was a fairly straightforward experience. Just be sure to read the small print to understand the retainer and other fees. It would also be helpful if they informed you about getting up to all the car hire areas. It’s quite precarious and not suitable for people with limited mobility.

After 5 times calling the customer service each time they said they will contact me in 48 hours but when they no call i call again and surprisedly they said oooh you have wait another 48 hours because you called us again
I spent alot on transportation on my holiday and no car and every day calling rental company for solution but nothing
As soon as my holiday finished the sent me an email and say ooh because you have no cancelled the contract during the rental time so you don’t get cancellation

When you book a hire car through Jet2 they are only a broker and DO NOT HIRE OUT CARS. They often use smaller local companies and the price you have paid for is very basic and does not cover all the risks. This then results in additional costs for insurance, and further amounts as deposits for potential damage. In addition, the communication was very poor, and finding the actual car hire company was a challenge as they were not named on the voucher.
I will never use them for car hire again. Be warned, this cheap car hire deal will possibly work out quite expensively in the end analysis.
Jet 2 Car Hire
I hired a car through the Jet 2 car hire site and the price was £80.48. The pick-up was at Alicante airport on 10 June and return to the same place on 17 June. On picking up the car I paid a further £114.00 at the Centauro desk and was given to understand that was because of my age. I refused comprehensive insurance coverage since I told the clerk I already had insurance. I returned the car on 17 June fully fuelled and in perfect condition although there was no one there to examine the car. However, I was then charged a further £382.77 on my card without my authorisation or knowledge. I contacted Jet 2 and their agent, Car Trawler and the hire firm Centauro. Eventually, after considerable chasing all 3 companies, I got a response from Jet 2 saying that the charges were for"chromes". I had done no damage to the wheel chromes, there was no one at the airport to examine the car and provide evidence but they felt that they had the right to remove money from my account. I have since heard from an acquaintance that lives in that part of Spain that companies like Centauro do this if a hirer doesn't buy their full insurance cover. It is nothing short of a scam and Jet 2 should have nothing to do with either Car Trawler or Centauro. The follow-up service from all 3 companies has been abysmal as has been the service from my card provider Halifax.
Avoid! Hidden costs
Arrived to be told I had booked through a broker called car trawler, not jet2 or Alamo, this was neither obvious or transparent. My Excess on an uncleaned Dacia would have been £1750. to reduce this would cost much more that the original hire price. Alamo rep (although friendly) said I should‘ve booked direct with them. Avoid Jet2 care hire. I walked away from €160. I would‘ve complained to Jet2 or car trawler but there is not apparent way to do this on their websites. Jet2 will pay in lost business because they have lost my trust. I won’t be booking any flights with them from now on.

DO NOT USE JET2 CAR HIRE - they use a firm based in Dublin called Cartrawler to book cars. We wanted to hire a care for 2 weeks touring the Algarve. We were picked up at the airport and taken to the Green Motion Depot in Faro. They would not accept the documents emailed to us by Cartrawler - we had paid them for car hire and insurance. We were bullied into taking out extra insurance or else we would not have been allowed to leave the compound. This is an unscrupulous company who are out to extort money from customers. They are a disgrace to the car hire business.
Jet2 and Cartrawler must know their unsavoury business practices yet continue to book cars through them.

The car hire company provided by Jet2 is appalling. Jet 2 use a third party system through a company called CarTrawler which does the booking, they in turn use a car hire company called RecordGo (Faro, Portugal)who has a very bad reputation throughout Portugal. Despite us purchasing an extra AXA car insurance with Jet2 as advised by them in advance, On arrival, RecordGo insisted that you purchase their own additional insurance costing in the region of 200 Euro extra fees.
Their manner is rude and you find yourself being bullied. You see, they reject your credit card when you are about to put a refundable bond on condition that the car is returned full of fuel. The same trick was used on another customer while at their office.
I find Jet 2 and CarTrawler directly responsible for this mess, obviously it’s a win situation for all of them and they all get their share in that scam.
My advice is, book a hire car privately, directly through a reputable car hire company and DO NOT USE JET 2 or CarTrawler.
The fact is, you will not know in advance who the car hire company is until you’re in their office which is too late.

I booked a rental car through *Jet2 Car Hire* for my holiday in Montenegro, trusting them as part of a reliable holiday provider. Unfortunately, they outsourced the booking to one of the *worst third-party companies*(Green Motion)and I ended up not receiving any car at the airport due to their technical issues.
Despite reporting the issue immediately and providing multiple emails and supporting documents, Jet2's customer support failed to take responsibility or resolve the matter. Their team continued to deflect the issue leaving me stranded with children in a foreign country, and offered no help or refund for the service I paid for but never received.
The whole experience was frustrating and stressful. I would strongly recommend booking directly with a reputable car rental company instead. Jet2 Car Hire’s approach to dispute resolution was dreadful, and their customer support was unhelpful and dismissive.
Total waste of money and a terrible way to start a holiday.
Jet2 is a fraudulent company.
i rented a black car and as soon as i got in the car the engine combusted and i had to replace it after that the seat ejected me out of it instantly and i had to also replace that. please never buy from here, i wouldn't recommend to a orthodontist. My dog was in the back and i drove for 5 minutes and then looked back and he was on the ground immobilized. after that a crackhead came to the window and asked for spare change to fund his issue.

I hired a car through Jet2. They put me with a third party Called Record Go when we got to Menorca a shuttle bus transported us to an industrial estate in the middle of Mahón away from the airport and no public services. The shuttle bus left and were told we could o my have the car if we paid an extra €200. As we didn’t seem to have much options given we didn’t know where we were or how to get to any public transport. I stupidly paid the money having been told Jet2 would refund me. I spoke to a Jet2 representative at the airport who said and I quote “ I only deal with flight issues sorry”.

And called there “customer service team” who by the way can only help you spend money, heaven forbid help in another way, I was actually told “the customer services number does deal with customer service issue”.
Thanks to Tracey Lee who is the Pre Travel advisor who clearly can’t advise any one of anything. Instead she is able to accurate demonstrate the companies moronic customer service approach.
It is clear to me Jet2 car hire and Jet2 as a hole is absolute joke, only happy to take money never give back.

First time I had used Jet 2 car hire and the last, they sub it out to Car Trawler, they do not vet the suppliers at all, I had purchased extra cover etc so I had no worries whilst away. Only to get there and the supplier at that instance was Carwiz I think they left the S out of the spelling, They told me that the Insurance would not cover the car fully as there's would. With just a 4-5 day break I did not want to sit reading the small print to see what the difference was. So I purchased it. Thinking I would take it up with Jet 2 on return, But that is delt with by CarTrawler who don't care anyway as they have plenty more customers they can stich up. It would be like arriving to check in for your Jet 2 flight only to be told that if you want to sit on the inside its extra. Jet 2 need to be careful about this supplier trading on Jet 2 name as it has got a bad reputation.

Absolute disgrace. Booked a car hire through jet2 app. Got put through to Avis Budget car hire. Arrived there and they didnt have our car. Still waiting for the £403 i paid. Been calling helpline which informed me they dont know how I was even able to book a car through the app as that option should not have been available due to me already been abroad. Got an open case but no one seems to give a damn. No resolution after almost a week now. Close to ringing my solicitor as I feel I have been mis-sold and potentially scammed with no way of reclaiming my money. My birthday holiday has been ruined thanks to Jet2. Will not be using again. Disgusting behaviour from what used to be a well renowned company.

We booked and paid for a car through Jet2hire.com for our family holiday (2 adults, 2 young children). Upon arrival at DelPaso Car Hire in Spain, they refused to release the car because my credit card didn’t display my full 31-character name — something physically impossible due to banking card limitations.
We immediately called Jet2hire.com from the DelPaso counter, exactly as instructed in the booking confirmation. Despite this, Jet2hire.com marked us as a “no-show” and denied a refund.
The most shocking part? DelPaso then used the exact same card they had just rejected to force us into making a second booking — at extra cost — so we would not be stranded abroad with our children.
The experience was stressful, expensive, and completely avoidable. Customer support from both companies was rigid, dismissive, and unhelpful. The complaint was wrongly marked as “resolved” without any refund or genuine resolution.
If this is how Jet2hire.com and DelPaso treat paying customers — especially foreign families on holiday — I strongly advise travellers to avoid them entirely.
