Good price, shame about the cracked windscreen
The van had a reasonably large but legal (30mm or so) crack right in the middle of the windscreen, and the cab stank of cigarettes when we picked it up. We were told they didn't have any other vans they could swap us to, so we didn't have much choice other than to take it. With that said, the van itself was clean and reliable, and significantly cheaper than other companies in the area.
(Follow-up based on GBV's response - this was a later booking on Saturday that I booked and my partner was the driver, Trustpilot's system didn't tell me which booking this review was for)

Mr Bowker, I am sorry to read this but we don't appear to have hired a vehicle to you on this reference. A booking was received via our website from you but we were unable to supply the vehicle at short notice on this occasion and we refunded your bank account.

Updated: My apologies Mr Bowker, I can see that booking in the name of Helvin, I have checked with the depot and they can confirm the cab of the vehicle even though a 70 plate does despite rigourous cleaning have an unpleasant smell. Smoking is not permitted in our vehicles but on occasions it still happens. I am saddened to hear of the take it or leave it attitude by a member of our team for which I can only apologise profusely. The windscreen does have a stone chip which is monitored but currently still legal. Despite this tainted hire experience I hope we will be able to welcome you back should you need to hire again.

Had to cancel at last minute
Had to cancel at last minute, due to circumstances out of my control van was hire from Friday to Monday, did expected not to have a full refund but when explained I did expect not to have to pay for the other 3 day. no compassion was shone, their reply was we have lost trade so you have to lose all your money even though that they could not rent out the van for the next 3 day so they could get double the money so they never lost out only the customer. I will remember this got the next time don’t pay in full up front on the internet.

Mr Lawley, we are sorry to hear that you feel you have been dealt with unfairly.
We were only made aware that the hire may not go ahead when we telephoned you several hours after the start of the hire. We kindly kept the booking open for you hoping that you would still require the vehicle. When you walked into the depot around 11am and made us aware that you did need to cancel the van you accepted that you would lose your monies as the hire had started at 8am. This is standard practice for both online and telephone bookings as we do require a minimum of 24 hours cancellation notice. We had also turned down other hires for the weekend for the size of vehicle you had booked.
We really would like to keep your business and hope you will use us again for when your house move finally goes ahead.
