One Medical used to be a great company…

One Medical used to be a great company but they really have gone downhill. I came here for a sprained ankle and the nurse partitioner who saw me literally told me in the hallway to the office "I don't know why you're seeking primary care, I'm not qualified to examine you..." yet they ended up taking me to the exam room, stating "I can't do anything for you" and then telling me to turn my foot left/right so they can perform an exam "because they had to do something."

Despite stating that they were not qualified to examine me, they submitted a claim for an office visit exam. I expressed concern with One Medical and after stating that I contacted my insurance company, the staff tried gaslighting me, and then just ended up ignoring me.

Eventually they chose to block me from seeing my primary care provider without telling me (the staff simply would not respond to me) and wouldn't correct a prescription that was sent to the wrong pharmacy.

While I'm sure there are some good people at One Medical, I ultimately had to take this to the State and Federal Medical boards in addition to my insurance company because the retaliation to my quality of care concerns came from the Director level (at least as far as I am aware).

Wish I could it give it 0. Claims you will be seen within 25 mins or less. It actually took 7 hours before I got connected to a provider. The visit was 1 minute at the most. I chose video but didn't see her face, she was typing and took and barely looked at me. Choosing video for more money is not worth it. Getting the prescription is another ordeal. Still waiting. Great concept but doesn't work.

Glitz to steal your money

Went in with a cough and provided my insurance. Was told to my face that insurance would cover it. “Shockingly” considering that the medical system is so broken, received a bill over $1000 for a 15 minute session and a strep diagnosis. I guess if the plan is to never get repeat business its a good model.

Paid $29 to be told to drink hot tea…

Paid $29 to be told to drink hot tea until I can get into my pcp in 3 weeks to be tested for strep. All my kids have strep and now I do too (common sense). They wouldn’t prescribe the antibiotic without a swab. So glad I paid money for this great advice.

BEWARE!!!

BEWARE!!!! I signed up for a free trial through Amazon. My trial date wasn't even over, that morning when I had an appointment the Dr. stated it was the end of my trial and hoped I would join. After I get a message on the app stating it was the end of my trial and my previous appointment would be charged to me. I asked how much and she told me a spot on the app that doesn't exist. After sending her screen shots she sends me a link to where I reviewed over $700 worth of billing. I refused to pay while I was on a free trial and she stated it was only a trial for the membership but services were still charged. There was never any information about how much these services would cost which were very expensive as I am being told now, because of the "convenience". I would have NEVER agreed to these prices and they are now coming for me in collections for refusing to pay for service prices I never agreed to. Run from this service!

Absolutely horrific company

Absolutely horrific! The medical care is okay, but their admin department is the worst you will find in the American healthcare system. Lorraine and Armando in the San Francisco admin office are two of the worst customer service representatives I have ever spoken with anywhere. Rudeness off the charts.

I worked many years in customer service and am always kind and patient with representatives on the phone. But their total lack of concern about my minor billing issue ($75) was astonishing. I’ve spent thousands of dollars at One Medical, paid every bill on time, yet they both treated me like I was a thief for not paying this bill which I dispute and was calling to resolve. Armando refused to address the problem, and he refused to provide me with a higher level supervisor’s name.

Doctor visits are okay, but One Medical billing and admin is a nightmare. Stay away from this company. There’s simply no reason to pay an annual fee for gutter-level customer service.

One Medical now sits at the crossroads…

One Medical now sits at the crossroads of incompetence and negligence.

Once a decent "concierge" provider, we spent an overnight in the ER for my 12-year-old child because several One Medical doctors failed to meet the basic standard of care this summer. The result was an almost life-threatening diagnosis by the ER doctors coupled with a hefty bill.

Many lawyers called this a clear case of medical negligence. One Medical's lawyers, however, would not admit that their doctor caused harm by his obvious lack of diagnosis. This is one example of many over the years. Save your money for quality care.

Lack of billing transparency, billed 9 months after service

I became a OneMedical member early this year. I completed a low-complexity virtual appointment for February 1st assuming I would be charged at most, the $49 virtual fee for the visit (pay-as-you-go cost). I am on a high deductible health plan, which apparently meant that OneMedical bills me the same amount they charge insurance, which is over 3X the cost of a pay-as-you-go or an immediate care visit. This could all be easily spelled out, particularly when OneMedical is aware of users on high-deductible plans. Further, OneMedical exacerbated the issue by billing me over 9 months after services were rendered, thereby continuing to accept my membership fees before I was able to determine I was over paying.

Scam

Scam! They have no intention of providing any services, just collecting money and telling you to see a provider in person for a service advertised as covered. Nurses are terse, unfeeling and inconsiderate.

No no no

No no no. 24+ hours wait and told to take Tylenol. No treatment plan, no medical evaluation, no diagnosis but reference to symptoms in a chat that I don't have. Just a scam to collect money. Go to teladoc. At least they SOMETIMES don't suck.

Incompetent doctors sold as convenience

Incompetent doctors sold in a guise of convenience. Trust me. Going to a REAL doctor is better than wasting your time here. It may seem more convenient but I've spent more time with their misdiagnosis and poor treatment than I would have if I had gone to a real doctor. One medical is making a profit on unhireable doctors by giving them a job. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a class action lawsuit in the near future against them if there isnt one already.

Avoid

I signed up because I didn't want to sit in urgent care for a sinus issue. I have been sick for over 9 days (realistically probably 12) and went from a cold to a full on sinus infection radiating through my ear and neck. My husband (in healthcare) told me I should see someone before I get on a plane because I could get much worse and my ear and lymph node are quite painful and are in fact not getting better and getting worse. At first I saw a PA and she asked for ear photos so she could prescribe the right drug. I went back to the service with ear photos from my husband to send to the PA. I then get a different person- a nurse this time whom gave me generic BS advice I already tried and I was already getting worse. So I went elsewhere to have an actual MD say I have a sinus infection and give me drugs for 7 days. What a prolific waste of my time. Avoid and get a real MD. It's worth sitting in urgent care especially if you know you are well past generic care, are getting worse and in fact need drugs.

Complete scam

Complete scam, I had a 2 minute phone call, the didn't issue meds, or even medical advice and I was charged 200$ to be told to go to urgent care

Told they took our insurance. After visit told insurance didn't cover

Both my partner and I went to different One Medical Offices with different doctors, were told they take our insurance and then afterward were hit with bills between $500 and $600 and told our insurance didn't cover the visit. They agreed to reduce my fee to $255, still way more than I had bargained for. It's a shame because I actually loved the nurse practitioner Jeanette Cruze. If you join call you insurance provider directly to double check.

i'd give negative stars if i could

i'd give negative stars if i could - cancelling after being a loyal customer since 2016.
i have had to fight every single bill from them saying my strep + std tests for considered "moderate to complex" visits where they see me for 15 minutes max and code my visits as 30-39 minutes long
they also started billing my insurance for urgent video chats that were previously not billed
unethical, misleading and very expensive for very simple requests

(NON) Care

If we could give this (non)provider no stars we would. I signed up with them two years ago and the care was good (I am a retired medical professional). In the last few months there has been a change. When you call for an appointment and someone finally does answer you are asked what state you are calling from. That doesn't strike me as personal care. We had a severe storm last May that resulted in power outages throughout the city during which time I had an appointment. When I called to find out if the office was open, the person I talked to had no idea what was going on in Houston and couldn't tell me if the office was open or not. Fifteen minutes before my scheduled appointment I got a call saying that my appointment was cancelled due to a power outage.
My husband had an appointment in February of this year and last week, November1st, he got a text from someone saying that his blood pressure they took during his last visit was elevated and he should call them with a recent blood pressure reading. Really?
A few weeks ago I had some alarming symptoms and after ten minutes on hold with a random person answering the phone, told me that there were no urgent appointments and that someone would call me back. One Medical advertises that urgent visits are available.
A "physical" with them consists of a brief listen to your chest and maybe a look into your mouth, not a full exam, which I am sure is not what they charge Medicare for.
I have yet to see the same person, let alone a physician, for more than one time. That is not what I consider continuity of care.
I could go on, but needless to say we have found a different provider and will not be returning to One Medical for any reason.

Pure Evil

About a year ago I had a telehealth with onemedical through my membership to renew a weight loss prescription a few months after that I got a bill for something which was part of the subscription and supposed to be free, they said membership doesn't cover this type of medication renewal, they sent me another bill which I paid again .. today they sent me a $500 bill that you still owe for telehealth visit ... I will take you to court this time
