Very friendly and professional lady…

Very friendly and professional lady took me through the different policies, didn’t feel under pressure. I’ve used Vetsure previously and everyone I spoke to was very helpful.
For some reason the emails you send me are impossible to read as for example, PDF’s cover the main text and the Direct Debit Details are completely obliterating the main guarantee. For some reason this only happens with emails from Vetsure.

A lovely team of people

A lovely team of people. When my young cat passed away I was sent a lovely card all signed by the Insurance Team and some seeds to plant, I was so touched by this, very thoughtful.

Read the small print! Cats over 8 years old not covered for death

Please please please read the small print with your policy! The front wording on mine said I was covered for death of my pet with no indication of any exclusions which is incredibly misleading. They will not pay out on a cat who is over 8 years old and customer service are very unhelpful, especially shocking when I was trying to deal with the sudden loss of my cat.

I have taken this to the Financial Ombudsman who have happily taken my case and were incredibly helpful. Vetsure did respond to my case but totally ignored my query about their misleading wording which was another disappointment.

I just want to make sure other people are not taken in by their misleading cover table on their policy.

Think Twice Before Choosing VetSure!

I don’t usually leave reviews, but this is something I wish I’d known before taking out pet insurance.

Vetsure’s process is confusing and inconsistent. The questions they ask during setup can change depending on who you speak to, and important details are often missed. That matters, because any previous vet visit, even something minor like a puppy being sick once, can later be used against you. They may treat it as a symptom and label it a pre-existing condition, even if your pet was never diagnosed with anything.

Claims are denied based on vague notes and assumptions, not actual veterinary evidence. And when you try to challenge it, the customer service is just as frustrating. You’re passed between departments, given conflicting information, and left feeling like no one’s actually listening. It’s exhausting and unfair.

If you’re new to pet insurance, it’s easy to get caught out by unclear wording and a lack of transparency. I trusted VetSure to be fair and clear. They weren’t.

If you’re considering them, don’t.

We would like to assure you that our declaration questions remain consistent for all policyholders and are a standard part of our policy setup process. These questions help us ensure we are able to provide accurate information and support from the very start of each policy.

When assessing claims, we do not make assumptions. All decisions are based solely on the veterinary clinical notes provided to us. If any information is unclear, we always seek clarification directly from the treating vet. In your case, the vet confirmed that the treatment was linked to a pre-existing condition. As a result, and in line with our policy terms and conditions, the claim was declined.

We appreciate that this was not the outcome you were hoping for, and we truly understand how frustrating this can be. Our aim is always to treat every claim fairly and consistently, based on the information available to us.

Great Customer Service

We had to make a claim some time ago and VetSure exceeded all expectations. Quickly resolved with no issues.
Recently needed to discuss a new policy; the uk based team (we spoke with Allie and Chelsea) both really went above and beyond to help. Ensuring we went forward with the correct level of cover with all aspects explained clearly and concisely.

Appalling customer care. Been with the company for nearly a year. I had been with another pet health company five years previously and I have never encountered such unprofessional ineptitude and excuses. Cut off when on the customer care phone support when they are supposedly supporting. Poorly trained staff. Combative in emails when I am emailing complaining about my service received such as missing orders of subscription vet medication. My delivery orders do not arrive and I do not recommend this company. Avoid.
I had to make sure I was refunded through my bank. As I had woeful excuses from Vetsure for my delivery charges being refunded into my account and this wasn't prompt. I was told 10 to 15 days for refund. I had to ask customer service several times where it was 16 days later it was refunded. I had by then had monies returned via my bank for subscription payments which as I had not received my vet medications on at least two occasions was refunded via the bank the same day. The bank also advised I have a complaint lodged with the Financial Ombudsman financial watchdog. Which is ongoing.

Price increases

Been with Vetsure for over 10 years now on recommendation from my vet. But in the past 3 years they have increased their costs dramatically. Above inflation and when I discussed with my vet they wanted me to forward my policies so they could look into. I have found other companies offering similar services for less. I have not changed yet but am in the process of comparing I would advise anyone looking into pet insurance to shop around. I am currently paying £100 a month for a 3 year old dog with no ongoing health issues.

Fast and efficient

Harry Scott handled my query quickly and efficiently and replied within a couple of hours. No waiting 5 days just for a reply saying they'll get to me within 14 days! Thank you. The refund was only negligible really but its one less thing for me to think about after the sudden loss of our beloved dog.

Helpful staff make a big difference

Jodie was so helpful, explaining the different options available and making sure I was happy with my final choice. I wasn't rushed or pressurised and she pointed out aspects of the insurance that I hadn't understood. Choosing pet insurance can be really confusing so it's definitely worth a call, as Jodie took all the stress out of it.

Thank you!

Our cat was very sadly hit by a car, and following emergency treatment passed away. This was a really awful time for us, however VetSure made the process a lot smoother and took the financial stress away. I paid for our cat’s treatment upfront as I wanted him to be individually cremated. Our vets submitted the claim form and within a week VetSure had made contact to sort everything out for us. It was hassle free and they went above and beyond in sending a condolences email, along with a hand written and signed (by the whole team!) card and small gift. This really was not expected but hugely appreciated. Thank you VetSure team, you made this awful time that little bit easier.
